Nearly Headless Nick, Peeves, and Bathilda Bagshot are all in agreement with me that if a parent is not sure his child can tell the difference between fantasy fiction, occult danger, and true religion, this parent needs someone like Dr. "Six-Day-Creation-is-a-lie" Dobson to take his hand and lead him to really quality stuff like the Left Behind series, or, for the truly intellectual among these children, perhaps The Last Battle, by Lewis in which we learn that it doesn't matter whether you believe in Aslan or Tash, as long as you truly believe (Tashlan, for the unread). That's like saying--and pardon me here--it doesn't matter whether you serve Dumbledore or Voldemort, as long as you fight for someone. Huh? Perhaps they fear the Quidditch games, because someone might get hurt, but my guess is this is something they can get riled up about that won't lose them any points among their vast ecumenical following. Dobson speaking out against the Pope lately, or the general apostasy of America, hmmm? |
