Second
I am probably the guilty for questioning Pink encouaging people to learn from Whitefield and Spurgeon..... not Pink

Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Dear cv
Excuse me but you might want to reread my post again. It was intended to be a contrast of the actual love and compassion for sinners demonstrated in Whitefield and Spurgeon. Spurgeon in particular preaching on John 3:16 quite different than Pink

Could it be God in His sovereignty wanted you to hear and consider that, so you could get it right?

Let me ask a question, if Pink's version of Calvinism in which God hates all the non- elect, and only loves the elect, how would you begin to preach the Gospel with the love of God to lost broken hell-deserving sinners
(Look up Pink's opinion/belief on John 3:16)

And if your Gospel has no compassionate love for sinners in it, what makes you imagine you are really preaching the Gospel?

Some who proudly proclaim their Calvinism may not like facing this, but aren't preachers like Whitefield and Spurgeon far better examples to us of men who preached the Gospel with genuine love and care for sinners that they would be saved and come to know Jesus Christ?
(SA has a sermon by Spurgeon on John 3:16, well worth the listen)

1. Trouble is Michael that many nominal Christians in the visible church don't allow God to be sovereign and omnipotent.
They try to take over and write their own book of religion. EG:: the Arminians, JW's and the RCC et al.
Dear Adriel
But isn't that what your beloved John Calvin did with his Institues? Remember the Bible is Scripture sovereignly written by holy men of God moved by the Holy Spirit of God and no matter how religious and sophisticated Calvin's writting are the ain't Scripture are they

Again may I suggest you give serious heed to what the Spirit moved men to write, like James 2:18 in context of course

And also
Matthew 23

A bit of correction

In the Bible we find God Sovereign and Almighty, not what some professing themselves to be Calvinists do with His Sovereignty and Omnipotence.

It is more than safe to say, Parents ought to educate themselves in what the Bible actually says [not what some professing to know what it teaches] and teach their own children that, the Word of God, and any other young people they might as well

Interesting
Does that mean you have a problem with Hebrews 5:19, "author of eternal salvation unto all that obey Him," as well? ( again awsome in its context of course, try 5:8-12 as a start)

Scripture written long before your friend John Calvin and his institutes, that ain't Scripture, and long before certain "Calvinists" began maligning people who disagreed with them as racists.... oops my error, arminians and whatever other fault real or imagined they could throw against them

Adriel, Wow!
Tell you what, you expressed an interest that I become friends with John Calvin.

You may want to consider my counter proposal that you become friends with this man named James. Being the half-brother of Jesus Christ and moved by the Holy Spirit to write Scripture, I believe it is more than safe to say he knew the Son of God far better than Calvin.... It is at very least safe to say his letter is Scripture and all of Calvin's Institutes ain't.

I suggest you take his words, in this case, James 2:18 to heart, in context of course!
Remember his are Scripture and Calvin's aint

Michael, I know you have a heart for souls, and I greatly appreciate that. You know that, I know that, we both know that.

So, if you will excuse me, brother, it is not for you to determine what another Christian thousands of miles away from your home, whom you have never met, ought to be doing in his walk with the Lord.

Hi! John
It's real simple, let me say it this way, do you mean a brother or sister who has never met me, never walked in my shoes has any right to demand what I think of John Calvin

Adriel, just so you know, as to the specifics of of walk with Christ or not, that is intimately personal between the individual and Jesus Christ

And John, while the specifics are individual the Great Commission is for all the Redeemed
And may Gid grant us to be about Our Father's business

You commented to me along the lines of telling me I needed to be friends with John Calvin

With some proffessing themselves Calvinist it seems talk is cheap. I find few outside a clinic, witnessing of Christ, pleading with the mothers do not do this horrible thing, that there is a God, who is good, ready to forgive, abounding in mercy to all who call upon Hi
So, you have quoted Calvin, I hope in this matter you would take,, a stand for the weak, defenseless and say something out there were it us so needed to be heard

Leviticus 20:1-8

I pray that a lot more “extremist Republicans” get elected, Jim. Yes sir, I’m hoping for a whole flock of senators, representatives, justices, federal judges, and state and local officials who are:
—Extreme in carrying out their oath to defend and support the Constitution.
—Extreme in their loyalty to America and its form of government as a constitutional republic.
—Extreme in resisting attacks on and attempts to destroy freedom of speech and religion.
—Extreme in upholding free and fair elections.
—Extreme in protecting our borders from foreign invaders, and in permanently ridding ourselves of the invaders who are already here.
—Extreme in resisting socialist encroachment.
—Extreme in not only draining the swamp in Washington, but also in eliminating the administrative and professorial reptiles who are envenomating the minds of young people and turning them against their homeland.
God give us thousands upon thousands of such extremists!

Michael, there are a number of very learned scholars on this forum who have become so educated that rather than believing the scriptures, they attempt to explain that they really don’t mean what they say.

Dr. Tim
May the Lord greatly bless you in your faith and ministry. I heard what you have said.

Applying and expanding on a quote from Ronald Reagan:

The problem with Liberals, Leftists, Marxists, Legalists and Apostates is not that they are ignorant BUT that they know so much that simply is not true.

Thank God! He has given us the Bible, His Holy Word, so we can know the Truth forever settled in Heaven for ourselves no matter what "popes, protestant or catholic demand we believe"

Whew! I got rambling there

Calvinism, on the other hand, declares the wonderful truth that God is intimately concerned about the salvation of those whom he has chosen, and it is his grace which ensures the success of his mercy mission.
John, Let's debate Calvinism some other time shall we.

But for now, a higher authority than Calvin or Dort or the WCF declares.

For God so loved the WORLD that He gave His Only Begotten Son that WHOSOEVER believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Since He emphasized WHOSOEVER I will too

John Lee wrote:
"the authorities arrived on the scene following reports of loud music. ..."
Quite right. There's far too much noise in the world today. And heavy metal/rock, despite being frowned upon by the majority in years gone by, is now heard every day in all sorts of circumstances, even replacing musak in supermarkets and lifts.
And with a name like "Kingdom Faith Ministries International Church" it is obviously not a Christian church, but some sort of dominionist, militant outfit, determined to blast the people into the kingdom of God with Black Sabbath, Uriah Heap, Motorhead, ZZ Top, and maybe a touch of Johnny Cash, a hint of reggae, and any other worldly music like, oh yes, Hillsong and their heavy metallers.
The music in heaven might be loud, but it will have a purity, unlike the distortion found in rock guitar. Heavenly music will be pleasant and without sin, by which I mean it will not be bent or corrupted. Just as humans will be resurrected and changed, I believe the harsh noise of things like trumpets will be purified and changed. Heaven will not be worldly.
John, Having trouble understanding you of late. Satire? Something else?

Question: Is the issue of abortion a major/key consideration in the coming election and administration?

Just read Leviticus 20:1-5

Question: So, Why are you pro-life?
Initial Response: Do you mean why have you woven into as part of your faith in Jesus Christ being a pro-life activist?

Answer: For the same Reasons you should Fear God, pray, preach the Gospel and be pro-life too

There's a time and place for everything, and this was not the place for her to spout off. Fine stand up and speak out against evil but do it in a peaceful and quiet manner. Getting others to sign petitions, criticizing the hand that feeds you...she was just plain asking for it. Golden apples spoken at the right time, are worth more than all the harsh words available to the human tongue. Another quaint ditty: Honey attacks more flies than vinegar. If you want to get your point across be nice. That's one bit of advice I'm still learning.
Okay, let me politely disagree with your premise of being heard if you are nice.

I would refer you to our Lord Jesus Christ?
Was He "nice" loving truthful compassionate understanding in short all the qualitites people ought to have felt safe with this friend of sinners.

What did that get Him
Yes! From some broken hearted repentance and love for being forgiven so much

From others, oh they heard by the way, didn't they and hated Him for the truth, with them ... Crucified

Just had a Jewish man speak to me about Germany in WW2, who holds the opinion what the Nazis did was evil and a greater evil those who stood by and in depraved indifference said and did nothing.

Think about it
Blessing
