"the Church of England on Tuesday (Nov. 20) rejected an expected move to allow women bishops, preserving the church’s status as one of the last bastions"

What an embarrassing soap opera.

The Church of England is no more Christian and no more Biblical than idolatry and heresy are.

This squabbling of their women for the top job is rediculous ~ BUT it proves how episcopacy is NOT Biblical and all too human a presumption.

In the garden of Eden Eve was in transgression and tempted her husband. The original sin.

1Tim 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Punishment of woman.
Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

"he shall rule over thee" is ordained by God.
No woman will be used by God in the pulpit.

"Benedict said the new "princes of the church" will be formally elevated at a ceremony in Rome"

"princes"?
Obviously the "servant" has no place in this hierarchy.

I have little trust in what Fox News or any of the other major media reports about Islam and muslims. Over the past 10 years I have seen so much propaganda reported it makes me very concerned.
Walt, hello again long time no see on the board.

Yes Walt ALL societies have bad and good people that goes without saying. I have worked abroad as an 'expat' and Saudi Arabia was one of the places where I worked with various nationalities. We had a friend out there who was a Pakistani Christian with whom we shared brotherhood and prayer time. Boy did he have a story to tell about this very problem. Also whilst there he was billeted with the other Pakistanis - who were muslim. I can sadly tell you that they really made his life hell there.
Also there are other sites which you may refer to which are not just pure media. EG....
"Christian churches have been bombed in the last year, leaving no doubt that tensions remain high. Christians are routinely sought out and harassed, tortured, wrongly imprisoned and even put to death at the hands of Muslim extremist peers."

"We are not to be like those who claim to be believers without ever reading or listening to the preached Word. They imagine that the Holy Spirit will reveal all to them in a vision or some such thing! In fact, the truth is, they despise doctrine and regard it as they would an alphabet for the instruction of little children. Be careful not to allow yourselves to be led astray by Satan and his wiles in this way. If we desire to be children of God, and to bear the true marks of a believer; if we desire to be acknowledged as such even by angels, we need to be teachable and, with all reverence and humility, thus to maintain order in the church. Even the greatest amongst us, and those who have been raised to honourable status, must recognise that the highest dignity men could have, be they kings or princes, is to be children of God. If a man wishes to exempt himself from this condition, he is rejecting God completely and cutting himself off from all hope of salvation. This, then, is the first point, that while we are in this world, we must make it our business to profit from the Word of God. Herein lies the key to spiritual life; for if God has granted us regeneration, we are to nourish ourselves with the teaching of Scripture for the rest of our lives." (John Calvin)

"What church discipline do the Calvinists enforce? The are judicially pronounced righteous by Christ's imputed righteousness. They do not need to repent—they do not believe in works—they are eternally saved—cannot lose their salvation no matter what they do. The only discipline they enforce is to believe in their doctrine of TULIP!"

1] *They are judicially pronounced righteous by Christ's imputed righteousness...
} YES! Rather than our own righteousness. "There is none Righteous no not one"Rom 3:10

2] *They do not need to repent...
} "I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." - REMEMBER we are the ones who teach Total Depravity. We then must obey the command to repent.

3] *they do not believe in works...
} Our is not a works based religion like the Papists.

4] *they are eternally saved...
} "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day." This is the promise of Christ and we receive and accept it.

5] *cannot lose their salvation no matter what they do.
} After being filled of God's Grace and His Holy Spirit - What WE do is serve love and worship God as we are better enabled to by the Holy Spirit indwelling in us.

JD wrote:
For anyone to make faith and works equal or to suggest that believing the death burial and resurrection, the gospel of Jesus Christ, the doctrine of Christ, is a work is to twist the entire theme of the Holy Scriptures to their own ends and to deny that God will save a lost sinner by faith. We should never have this conversation in the contect of the christian faith. Faith is not a work and work is not faith and how any sane thinking person can make this connection simply illustrates how depraved the unregenerated mind truly is.
So be it JD.

Then what is faith and from where and how does it originate in the sinners heart?

Eph 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that NOT OF YOURSELVES: it is the gift of God:
2:9 NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast."

Do you agree here then JD, that this verse teaches that faith is the GIFT of God, enabled by the Holy Spirit and grace? And that prior to this divine work the sinner could not repent and seek his Savior?

The Holy Spirit is the agency for this transformation and faith is the cause.
Faith is the condition for salvation and every verse in all of Scripture that deals with the subject says so

Fighting onward for the same old Roman Catholic salvation by human works. JD's god, cannot work salvation without human cooperation. NO sovereign god for JD? And sin? iniquity? depravity? - why thats just a minor inconvenience and certainly does not prove fatal to the arminian ego.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that NOT OF YOURSELVES: it is the gift of God:
2:9 NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast.

If only you could see the Truth in these verses JD. If only.

Psalm 28
8 The LORD is their strength, and he is the SAVING STRENGTH of his anointed.

9 Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.

Ro 8.24 For we are SAVED BY HOPE: but hope that is seen is not hope

Heb 11.1 Now faith is the substance of things HOPED FOR, the evidence of things not seen

Ro 5.1 Therefore BEING justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have ACCESS by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in HOPE OF THE glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, HOPE:
5 And HOPE maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts BY THE Holy Ghost which is GIVEN unto us.

""Some evangelical leaders say they are wary of reports that a panel including former Secretary of State James A. Baker III might recommend negotiating with Iran about the future of Iraq.""

This is one that Tony Blair has thought of too.
Quote
"London - British Prime Minister Tony Blair Monday urged Syria and Iran to play a 'more constructive role' in solving the Middle East conflict, which could also help bring peace to Iraq.

In a major foreign policy speech in London late Monday, Blair said a 'new partnership' with Iran was possible if Tehran assisted in the Middle East process, stopped its support for terrorism and fulfilled its obligations on nuclear non-proliferation.""
