Feminism is partially to blame as are our new/old "undocumented workers"...lazy men, liberal "presidents", as well as businesses who decided to avoid the liberal policies by moving their HQs overseas all factor into the situation also. There looks to be a correlation between feminism and the subject of the article. If you can't read between the lines for yourself--it goes like this. Before the big women's movement a man with one job could support a family of four. I'm age 40 now. My dad was just barely able to do it, but I believe my brother and I are among the last to benefit from this. We were not well off. In fact my dad, who did not graduate from high school, did side jobs and maybe only had one day off a week--we were barely making it. Nowadays though it's almost impossible. The woman of the house almost has to work to make ends meet. You are working in a country wherein you can't make a living without at least a high school diploma. It's mostly service industry--low paying--even for those who do. Associate degree? Ha! Bachelor's? Getting to be just as bad. Now we have the influx of undocumented workers. Not to mention Obama Clause picking the pockets of those who will work to support lazy men mentioned by other posters! Makes me want to say an xpat forever. |

I've gotten to where I watch less and less of these shows. I like humor, and making fun of 'churches' or 'religion' in general is fair game, but when they start to make fun or Jesus or even Mary (I'm not Catholic, but she's still blessed and the mother of our Lord) and I have to turn it. Admittedly I don't always turn it fast enough...hence my desire to avoid the shows totally...but most the time once the line is crossed I'm quick to get out of there. We all have our short comings and we shouldn't have our eyes on anything against the Lord, but I'm almost convinced that watching girls gone wild or the like is better than some of these cartoons and sit coms. It makes me sad that something can't be "funny" without emasculating men--especially fathers--on a side note I wish I'd given my own late father a lot more respect than 'joking' so much in my own life influenced by these shows--, throwing in a homosexual character or two, and generally belittling good, traditional values be they Christian specific or not. I still struggle when it comes to watching some of my favorite shows, but when it comes down to it if the show promotes the sin and you support the show...then you are supporting the sin whether the show is 'real' or not has no bearing. |
