Mike wrote: Knox: "And finally, that the foolish, mad, and frenetic shall govern the discreet, and give counsel to such as be sober of mind? And such be all women, compared unto man in bearing of authority." Knox said the examples establish no common law. But they do wreck his foolish assertion- "And such be all women,.." He must have been an early denier of word meanings. If one is a denier of punctuation in sentence meaning one might stop at the comma and ignore a generic reference to man as the conclusion to logic flow by Knox. "Man " obviously not being the same word as "men"... What Knox has in view is design intent generically. As in "man is designed to bear authority as see in 1 Cor 11. " But not all men are trustworthy. All women are designed in the providence of God to fit into God's plan for man & woman. Sinful weak individual men led to exceptions that prove the rule. Knox pointed this out. As I said: the Knox treatise is long. And others have noted a modern Gunn brothers film that is filled with only women espousing Knox's treatise, based on this titled piece. |
