Frank, I think you need more study about oaths. An oath is sworn to God. So when one takes the oath of office he is making a promise to God to uphold the constitution and the law insofar as those laws are in accord with God's law. Those who violate their oath are also affirming that they deserve the curse of the law breaker. Now if the oath breaker escapes the punishment of man he will not escape the punishment of God,primarily because this is a violation of the 4th commandment, taking the Lord's name in vain.

In the Old Testament the fat was reserved for God. For example Eli's sons were killed because they took the choice cuts, the ones that belonged to the Lord, for themselves.

The title CNN used is definitely provocative. It is also interesting that this was written by a Liberty University professor. And it would also be interesting to see what CNN edited.

That said, Sean Harris makes some valid observations about the article and its shortcomings. It is important that we learn to think biblically so that as we confront the world we know "the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ" (2 Co 10:4–5).

I think SA is helping us do that.

News Item:
Thanksgiving
9
comments
Jim,

Even Wikipedia doesn't list it as a "secular" holiday. You might say it is a "civil" holiday, but in reality it is religious. Even President Obama states so as his reason for making a proclamation: "mindful of the grace bestowed upon us by God."

William Bradford wrote about the reason for the day of Thanksgiving in 1623,

And afterwards the Lord sent them such seasonable showers, with interchange of fair warm weather as, through His blessing, caused a fruitful and liberal harvest, to their no small comfort and rejoicing. For which mercy, in time convenient, they also set apart a day of thanksgiving… By this time harvest was come, and instead of famine now God gave them plenty … for which they blessed God. And the effect of their particular planting was well seen, for all had … pretty well … so as any general want or famine had not been amongst them since to this day. (Of Plymouth Plantation)

So, you may fly a flag, but you should set aside this day for thanking God for his goodness to the children of men.

This is Mother Jones, not Alex. Mother Jones is much more pro-Obama than Alex is and I find it interesting that they are talking about this. They are trying to make decent folks sound kooky but at the same time they are revealing what is going on.

This Delphi technique has been around for a while and the Federal and State governments are using it under various names. I have attended meetings where "stakeholders" are told their input is wanted only to be told that we all have to jetison our values to adopt their pre-conceived idea of "consensus."

There is much more truth here than kook.

"Gun control laws" ??? No!
What Americans need to do now is THINK!!!
Why make murder and mayhem so easily accessible in what passes for civilised society?
Remove all the gun shops since over 99% of the population do not need to carry a gun to kill people with.
Mike if as you suggest Satan is increasing in his activities in society then access to guns should be severely restricted to all sinners. Sooner rather than later!
If a gun free zone is all that is needed to stop violence, then this event would not have happened. The Theater was a gun free zone and it didn't stop the criminal it only denied law abiding citizens the right to defend themselves.

Jim,

Are you up to date on your shots? If so you probably are at a greater risk for the disease and side effects of the vaccine. While KRVN reports that pertussis cases were confirmed what they didn't tell you is that most of these cases are in the vaccinated population. In 2010 Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in San Rafael reported that 92 percent of the cases that tested positive for pertussis had been vaccinated. Only 8 percent of the cases were in the vaccinated population. If you really want to read about it you can read it here:

http://cid.oxfordjournals.org/content/early/2012/03/13/cid.cis287

While vaccines have a role in public health, the public needs to be fully informed about the risks and side effects of the vaccine as well as the disease. Many doctors don't read vaccine labels and do harm.

Joe has a pagan/charismatic view of Christianity, I can tell I'm a Christian because God is blessing me. Yes, God does bless. But God is not a genie who gives us what we wish for. Sanctification follows justification which means that the refiners fire is better evidence of salvation that material prosperity.

Neil,

It doesn't appear that they are trying to hide that info, so how does it affect the article?

The report can be read here: http://i.cfr.org/content/publications/attachments/TFR68_Education_National_Security.pdf

The report recommends schools should continue outcome based education (now called common core state standards) and do auditing (testing) of students. It says states need to spend more money on schools. In other words, more of the same. to correct the problems.

Jim,

If in fact the vaccines worked as promised, then the vaccinated kids have nothing to worry about with the presence of non-vaccinated kids. However, vaccines are oftentimes ineffective. In 1997 the Australian government reported that the Pertussis vaccine was 37% effective. However the effective rate of deaths from the Pertussis vaccine was closer to 10 times that of the the deaths from the disease.

The math suggests to the parents that it is safer to get the disease than the vaccine. But the math to the drug company which does not have liability for defective or ineffective product is to sell more drugs and kill more kids.

I was never under the impression that SA claimed to be all knowing and infallible. However, I think your criticism is a little unfair, for it appears that SA posted the article at midnight and all the sources you cite were posted at a later time.

Norwegian sources are saying that suspect is a member of the freemasons.

Well, of course he's "now written a book alleging" whatever sensationalist thing that sells books. Why is this news? Anyone will say anything to sell a book. Why doesn't SermonAudio set up a separate section to plug books? I could understand linking critical reviews, but not these articles that just promote a new book.
Scott, you perhaps should have read the article, it labels itself as a (critical) book review. The thing that makes this book review compelling is that it highlights a recent book outlining the monetary malfeasance of the Catholic church as seen by a practicing Catholic.

And perhaps SA should have a book review section.

Jim, it is really simple. Kosher killing requires that the throat be slit so that the animal's blood is removed. Stunning inhibits the flowing of blood so more blood remains in the meat.

For the Jewish kosher kill stunning violates the command to not eat the blood. For the Muslims halal kosher the blood is used for other rituals and offerings.

There is no real evidence that stunning is more humane that slitting the throat, but it looks more humane to some.

Ah, too bad he doesn't crawl back into the woodwork again. Remember he also is the one who think your kids should have inalienable right to smoke pot.
A recent article about Herr Paul, ]]Ron Paul: Anti-Semite: Case Closed and something of a golden-oldie 2007, which is true today as when it was written in 2007, ]]The Odd Alliance Supporting Ron Paul.
Your implication that Ron Paul wants all kids to smoke pot sounds like political scaremongering.

Also, are you suggesting that those who oppose foreign aid to Israel and Arab countries are anti-semites? Or are you suggesting that those who do not hold dispensational views are anti-semites? The link seems to be a broad generalization without much documentation.

And by odd alliances do you really mean guilt by association? The American Thinker has some odd alliances too, are they disreputable on the same grounds?
