Biblicist,

Thanks so much for sharing and caring. You truly sound like one who knows from the heart how to "bare one anothers burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ". Your advice was perfectly true to Scripture! Thanks again. Any advice or help I can get from this forum is much appreciated!

May I join in here? I was brought up in a very strict Dutch Reformed Church here in the northeast (USA). I've had and still have many questions about how I was raised. In this church, where I went every Sunday, 3 times a Sunday, we were taught that very few people were saved. It was rare that people had a true assurance of salvation for themselves. I read the Bible and I looked at the many verses saying we can know that we are saved. Very confusing for a younger person at the time. On Sundays we could not even use a pair of scissors to cut up some paper. Also, taking some pictures outdoors on Sunday was also a sin. We were not even allowed to go for a walk. I now am more confused than ever. I thought that the Lord had saved me some years ago, but now I am struggling with binge alcoholism and also being bisexual most of my life. I know that these 2 sins will send me to hell if I do not repent. I beg God to please help me and save me. As of yet I still don't know where I stand and fear dying and going to hell. I am desperate. Now, back to church issues. In the last 10 yrs. or so, many of our younger people in the same church have assurance of their faith, no doubts at all about their being saved. Is there anyone in here that knows where I came from and can offer any help or hope?

Thanks John Uk for posting a great answer. You quoted some fine points, as well did others who "came to my rescue" this day. I can't thank our Lord enough for sending His people to me re: some particular sins I'm struggling with.

Thanks, Max, Joelly, Jim L., and Faithful R. for praying for me and giving me some good "feedback". I have been struggling with alcoholism as well. I sometimes, as I am right now, get very depressed and feel (for real) that God will not forgive me because I know the Bible and what He says about alcohol and sexuall sins. As I said earlier, I feel that I beg Him, when I pray, to please give me a hatred for these sins. I cannot do it in my own strength. I still know that I am responsible for every action. While there are selfhelp groups such as AA, I still know that Christ is the only one who I need to help me and save me. I wonder why He has not anwered this prayer for help. I know I'm not worthy to be heard or answered by the Lord. Thanks so much for letting me share with you dear Christians!

May I "pop" in here a moment and share? I have been struggling myself with homosexuality for some years now. I am not happy at all about this because I know what God's word says about this sin (Romans 1) and many other verses in Scripture. I have prayed to God with all my heart for many years now for Him to help me and give me a hatred for this sin. I thought I was saved but because of my homosexual desires and, at times, looking at porn, I feel I am not saved and am on my way to hell. Perhaps others are in this same situation, I don't know. I'm at my wits end regarding this sin that I have struggled with since I was very young. Being molested as a boy didn't help me at all. Please pray for someone like me who is really struggling with this sin.

May I ask a question? Do any of you in this forum struggle or have struggled with this sin? I have struggled with this sin of bisexual for a long time. I wish it were different. I know this lifestyle is terribly sinful. I need help because I do not want to go to Hell. I need someone to talk to who knows from experience the pain I am in. I constantly feel I'm not born again and feel at times, that there is no more hope for me. I pray to God to take this sinaway and to give me a hatred for this sin. Anyone out there who can help me??

I personally don't believe the churches will be bothered by this. If a church, as a whole, is unitedly against the gay lifestyle, I don't think the churches will be made to accept people in who are gay to work for them. People still have respect to faithful churches. Some individuals make it worse than what it really is. Sadly, many churches have no problem with this terrible sin. People have to speak up!

I am baffled that " Sermon Audio " allows such "childish, unedifying" chat to go on in these rooms. What does the "nonsense'chat" have to do with " Calvinism"? I've seen this repeditive nonsense going on in other rooms as well. I wish "Sermon Audio" would monitor these rooms so that, once again, conversation could be edifying and praise worthy.

Wouldn't it be nice that, instead of bashing gays and "non-gays", it would be nice to see how myself. a person struggling with liking men and their private parts would be helped by others who struggle with the same desires. I'm sure that there are many, many Christians who struggle with "same sex issues" and don't dare to come out with it. Please, in these rooms, try to come out with your own struggles with homosexuallity and say" I know that this struggle prevails with many, many Christians!! probably 50 percent!!!!

If women can wear pants or slacks, why can't a man wear skirts and dresses? Let's be fair about this! Years ago, women dressed like a woman. What's really the problem with women dressing modestly? Certainly, Christian women should have no problem with this "dress code". Let a man dress like a man and a woman dress like a woman? If not, again I say, let the men wear skirts and dresses. What's fair is fair....end of story!!!!!!!!!!

I believe women should dress like a women, namely, dresses and skirts. Men should wear slacks or pants, not dresses. To be fair, if a woman wears men's clothing [slacks, pants] men should be able to wear skirts and dresses. Fair is fair and modesty is modesty!

It sure is great to see the support for our friend as he opposes gay lifestyle, etc. What I would like to see here in our open forum is the fact that many, I believe, amongst our brothers, struggle with this "sin" "problem". I really believe that many Christian men struggle with this problem but don't dare to come out and admit it. Am I right or wrong?

Weapon of mass instruction,
You hit the nail on the head when you said that a fundamentalist's favorite pasttime is fighting. I am talking about a different group of people who, I believe, I belong to. They are people who love the Lord, love His Word and want to learn from each other prayerfully. I hope you belong to this latter group as well!

Preacherjond,

Limited atonement and irresistable grace are spelled out crystal clear in the Bible. Maybe not in these exact words, but in essence the Bible is very clear. I don't understand this doctrine with my natural mind/intellect, but when I study the many, many verses that support these 2 fundamental truths, I see them as clear as crystal in the Bible. Much, much more could be said yet, many more verses to support these views are in Scripture, but because of the late hour, I won't have the time. When the Bible is so very clear on limited atonement and irresistable grace, i wonder if people are for real when they "say" they don't agree with theses verses. Again, I don't understand God's sovereignty and why some are saved and not others, but a child can see/read the verse clearly for themselves as to thier exact meaning.
