There are 100s of denominations, thousands of independent churches and 10s of millions of individuals all claiming to speak by the Spirit (many with contradictory beliefs). The Spirit must be very confused these days. These seeds of confusion enable Jesus's name to be ruled "unconstitutional" even in the most conservative towns and burgs.

The unified unbelieving world is reading our discord (published online) and knows they can easily root out Christianity from every corner of the civil sphere. ]]A nation divided against itself shall not stand.

The Reformers went downstream instead of up and most Christians are still speaking and reading a non-biblical language. If they had established Greek (at a minimum) as a requirement in elementary, middle and high school, wouldn't we be speaking, reading, thinking and even dreaming in the NT language by now?

The Greeks, naturally, have this figured out. Why do Westerners wait until seminary to teach a few measly semesters of Greek?

Perhaps the next Reformation will not be so anti-intellectual nor so anti-biblical.

Why are all of the Reformers continually dumbing us down by trying to "translate" and preach the Bible into and our tongues? And now we war over which translation is dumb or dumber?

Sola Scriptura is just that: The Bible in Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic. Anything else is a lousy substitute. We've been sold a mess of pottage.

At least the Greek Orthodox have the good sense to read from Greek in the worship service. Was this too much to ask of Luther and Calvin?

Preacher, try this at ye olde Reformed baptist church and they'll think you've plumb lost your mind.

Sola Scriptura is reading the Bible from the pulpit.
Scripture Alone is singing songs from the Bible.
To the extent that a church deviates from this formal principle of the Reformation is neither safe nor right.

The remnant of RP Churches in the US have always been political 'dissenters' for the very reasons stated here so far. Though others of their supposed 'denomination' are practicing pluralism in the name of Church government, it is contrary to true Presbyterianism. None of these multiplicities of 'denominations' even in Presbyterianism are united in the truth of Scripture but divided in error (divisions and schisms). It was ever been the true RP's understanding of the Scripture, made clear enough to their 'Berean' members; that would have prevented many of these mad deviations from truth, so clearly demonstrated to be madness by this article. Matt.6:24 Yes, Rufus.

It can be found in the original Hebrew of the Old Testament in a number of texts
Deut. 32:20 for example:

Deuteronomy 32:20
And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.

Jim this is a little more forcefully 'impressed' then promise keepers. The article states. "In the program's first five months, the network has grown to have representatives in 20 states and involves professors, pastors, rabbis, imams and lay people who focus on creating an alternative to traditional interreligious dialogue. Siljander said he believes his program will succeed where others have failed.

His website explains that the first four tracks are *diplomats negotiating 'peace?' plans, politicians implementing agreements through legal processes, 'military pressure to comply' and economic strategists motivating with incentives.*
Then the "Trac 5" is an effort to "coach key influence makers through a process so powerful it can turn enmity into reconciliation." In Trac5 we have found a spiritual model by which if enough people get engaged in this process, it can help undermine radicalism in anything, Islam, Christianity, whatever radicalism's face may look like," Siljander stated.

"And empowering hopefully the majority of people who support peace and the way of life we enjoy here in America,"* Siljander said.

This sounds more like Iraq, and 'Arab Spring' than Promise Keepers?

If anyone was really pressing the Crown rights of Jesus Christ then they'd be a political dissenter. I've concluded we all(self included) need to spend more time sighing and crying for the abominations that have brought the present judgments upon east and west. Especially since greater judgments hasten. It was helpful to consider the violations of the first table of the moral law in great detail WCF LC Q. 103-121. These sins give evidence to the fact that we do not love the Lord our God with all our heart, and with all our soul, and with all our might; demonstrated by the lack of love for our neighbor. It is second table violations that predominate most of these discussions. The reason for cold or lukewarm love to Christ is we do not understand how high the standard is. If so, we would be filled with awe for what Christ has both saved and continues to save us from. The spirit is willing, the flesh is weak.

8/14/11, I read a pastoral call to prayer and fasting Jan,1634. It was to take place from one Lord's day to the following and the 6 days in between as able, with a list of what was to be mourned for and prayed about in each household. Very different from what I read here. It rebuked my own idea of sober humbling of oneself before a displeased Almighty Sovereign.

How are you doing? I hope God is working things out for the better with you. I and I am sure others have been lifting you up in prayer before the throne of grace.
The patience of my God with me amazes me. It reveals His veracity and my pitiable estate; yet, He bids me not faint and to be patient and Christ has great reserves of His strength and patience for to me to draw from. But it has become most apparent today, that my wandering from my place, calling and station, into the camp of the Independents and Sectaries has been very costly. May God have mercy on my careless disobedience for Christ's sake.

Hebrew 6:16-19 "For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, (His promise and his oath) in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;"

I believe the real problem that needs to be addressed is the Doctrine of the Church, that is what is making this very confusing.

WCF Section 25
1. The catholic or universal church which is invisible, consists of the whole number of the elect. That have been, are, or shall be gathered into one, under Christ the Head thereof; and is the spouse the body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all.

2. The visible Church, which is also catholic or universal under the gospel (not confined to one nation as before under the law), consists of all those throughout the world that profess the true religion; and of their children, and is the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ, the house and family of God, out of which there is no 'ordinary possibility of salvation.'

This is where the difference lies

It is my understanding that Rev. 14:13-20 and Rev. 20:7-10 are not the same time periods. They both speak of judgments that advance Christ's kingdom by the defeat of his enemies. Looked at together but taken as separate events, they address your question Mike, about Rev. 20

Man the creature has never been capable of being immutable, that is an attribute of God only. There has always, only, been one Covenant of Redemption, in the mind of God. The Covenant of Works only proved man mutable, susceptible to deception and change even in his best estate; before the fall. Man at creation was pronounced very good, because created in knowledge, righteousness and holiness with dominion over the creatures. All men, in fallen Adam were then born with the imputation of the guilt of Adam's original sin; the want of his original righteous and the corruption of their whole nature -original sin. The promise of the gospel is first given in Gen.3:15.

The apostles in the NT state the fulfillment of the promise of in Genesis & Deuteronomy 30:6 in 1 Peter 1:1-5; and Paul in Romans 8:29,30 this is not contrary to ordo salutis and in both cases reflective of the true gospel.

Ah. the narrow Way. Jesus said: 'Salvation is of the Jews.' He was a Jew. As Zachariah prophesied the coming of John was fulfillment of OT prophesy, this his hearers recognized. The Lord said John was Elijah that was to come Luke 1:17 "And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers (Jewish apostles?)to the children, (Jewish converts?) and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; (Gentile's called) to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." Similar to what Malachi said in Chap.4:1-6

I expect the salvation of a greater number of Semitic peoples then heretofore; 'en masse' No, but a much greater number as the Lord will have opened up the gospel in the east to a larger extent to all peoples at the end of the sixth trumpet or second woe trumpet having toppled Islamic regimes then "drying up the Euphrates" by the sixth vial, giving these 'priests and kings' now Jews and Muslims converted to Christ, utterance to the heathen nations.

Any true doctrine should be able to be established by both the Old and New Testament Scriptures, as I believe this is, as I have been taught.

As to regeneration WITHOUT repentance and faith it kind of reminds of the RCC which teaches it members they don't need to be born again that happened when they were sprinkled as babies. And RCs often hate Believer's baptism as well.
Thanks for Romans 10 reference, I'm sorry but I'm not sure I get the point you were making by your story. You know, what you are trying to get across to me, but I don't.

But in response to the end quoted; I simply said without regeneration there is no repentance and faith. Ephes. 2:8-10 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

I do not believe that you are wanting to discuss baptism nor is it appropriate to Scripturally argue it here. But what you call believer's baptism, I call John's baptism unto repentance, in many cases.

Same tune, different day?
Not if you compare history with the whole of Scripture, I think your statement is a bit of a twist.

If a man states truth it is truth however when I read this article Rev.12:14-17 came to mind. "And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."

Well stated a good Scriptural argument for truth, for which I bless God.
I heard a friend preach sometime ago why sins against God carry the steepest culpability.

Thinking about that I see this in the article, '“It's interesting that the bill came forward right after Mother's Day, and is near a vote as Father's Day approaches. Society sets aside those days because society recognizes that mothers, fathers and marriage are important." Society worships and services the creature rather than the Creator on the Lord's Day. Parents in the Lord should be honored every day, and I'm sure none would mind giving their honor to God on the Lord's Day.

It has not bode well, for sometime now. Godly men have historically lost their jobs rather than deny Christ by exchanging their integrity for temporal comfort. It isn't an easy choice; especially for men with dependent families but as David said; I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his children begging bread.

I'm going to suppose he meant all imperfect saints like himself who were being perfected like their Head, by the things they suffered. Whether the the OT saints who were righteous by grace through faith in Christ who was to come, as in David's case, or from David's prophetic vantage all those whose faith in Christ who would come and is coming again, Have their courage sustained in this short life.

Romans 8:For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

It seems to me the young man conducted himself humbly, and courageously and God blessed it by giving him a much larger hearing then a High School graduation audience. His valedictorian speech is now on the www and can be read around the world. God is not limited by man's censures, whether done ignorantly or wickedly.

If I rightly understand what you are all saying, then tell me why you have a problem with WCF SC?

Q.30 What is effectual calling?

A. Effectual calling is the work of God's Spirit, whereby, convincing us of our sin and misery, enlightening our minds in the knowledge of Christ, and renewing our wills, he doth persuade and enable us to embrace Jesus Christ, freely offered to us in the Gospel.

This is what most of you are saying I believe, but I asked the 'order question' because I was confused by Michael H's statement,"For example here a totally arbitary predestination and election OR a predestination and election where God brings an individual to repentance, faith and the new birth?"
