I don't see what one guy and his wife's conversion has to do with this story. You might as well throw in that Francis Schaeffer's son 'Franky' crossed over to the Orthodox church years ago. So what! It just shows you that Schaeffer, 'great evangelical theologian' that he was, had 0 control over his own family. He didn't even follow the Scripture that says a church leader should raise his children in the faith. If he fails that, then what can he be entrusted with? Other people? No way! Somehow, in the US, we think, well, at home everyone has problems, so let's not judge a man by his children. That's not what the New Testament clearly teaches. As to the Russian Orthodox Church being the main subject here, I would proceed with much caution, since they have been linked to the govt for many years, and who knows what is going on there? Throw in the Ukrainians and you open a whole new can of worms! Also, the source of the story, the BBC, is not some immaculate preacher of truth, but just another collection of leftists, no better than CNN or MSNBC. No doubt many are also communists from way back. |

I guess this story will not be appearing on the Christian Post website, right? It reminds me of a case of a famous philanthropist in South Florida, last name Frost, who has given millions for a science museum, Univ of Miami music school, and FIU art gallery, all of which are named after him and his wife. A recent news story was that he was indicted for insider trading in stocks. His name still appears on the 3 places mentioned above. I guess that might change if he goes to jail--not likely, more likely-signs a plea deal, turns over a million in fines, case dismissed, tiny news story. "How the mighty have fallen" and "The love of money is the root of all evil" said Paul in his letter to Timothy, right? And, since early elections are due to start in a week or so in many states, and absentee ballots have been sent out, let me remind the few that read these comments that 'Elections Have Consequences' and that, if you like what President Trump is doing and has done for the USA, it is time to support him by sending more Republicans to Congress. |

Hmmm...Minnesota, eh? may i guess that most of these patients are from overseas, say..Somalia? or had close contact with people from there? Minnesota has a large population of Somali, thanks to the taxpayer-financed (yes, that's you and me, if you are part of the 49 percent of the US population that pays any income tax) program that paid the Lutheran World Services to resettle these refugees. Yes, I know there are verses in the Old Testament about being good to refugees, but all that was written before Islam came along. I doubt the ancient Hebrews ever had to deal with a foreign people who would fake their obedience and later turn on them, attacking their women in the streets (because, remember, for many Muslims, any woman going out alone is a street-walker. They think women should be confined at home, under the control of their father or husband, and only go out in their presence. Remember that Saudi Arabia, the most perfect Islamic state in the world, only allowed women to drive cars this year.) |

This is a sad piece of news, though it is logical, in a way. Rich people see no need to buy lottery tickets, but they will buy investment advice from unqualified people and lose even more than poor people. So each kind of person is drawn in and trapped by a bait that is fitted to their situation, kind of like fishing. And here's a good quote from the most excellent devotional, DAily Strength for DAily Needs: "There is hardly ever a complete silence in our soul. God is whispering to us wellnigh incessantly. Whenever the sounds of the world die out in the soul, or sink low, then we hear these whisperings of God. He is always whispering to us, only we do not always hear, because of the noise, hurry, and distraction which life causes as it rushes on. F. W. FABER. |
