I will pray for you and have others pray, that
God will provide health and material
sustenance, and above all that any sin in your
life will be confessed and that you will know
you are truly one of His by rebirth. Thanks for
sharing. God is able.

“ Great Sermon! ”
And that fourth one has always troubled me. These are the folks that don't want to take the time to see what God really said, and then criticize those who have done so.

Strange comments continue to appear here. I
am attacked with the accusation of attacking
the Bible, attacking the readers of the KJV,
etc.

It is suggested that I have no right to
publish my own opinion on my own blog and
the demand is made that I share everyone
else's opinion. All nonsense. Sounds much
like the leftist position of equality for
all.

How many times do I need to affirm the KJV?

How many times do I need to affirm
individual believers who read that version?

What I refuse to affirm is the notion that
non-KJV versions, all of them, are of the
Devil.

What I refuse to affirm is that KJV readers
are somehow a cut above the rest of us.

God speaks His Word in every honest
translation attempt. I do not include JW or
certain charismatic Bibles in this category
and I have given reasons.

Those who continue to attack rather than
edify or ask honest questions will continue
to be deleted, and encouraged to start a
blog of their own...

I take it as a personal responsibility to
protect the veracity of Scripture by
protecting the veracity of translations such
as the NKJV and several others.

I take it as a personal responsibility to
vilify Bible-burners and cultists.

If the apostles saw the word of God in the
Septuagint, why cannot we believe God speaks
in the NASB?

Once more I ask that this comment section be
reserved for those with honest questions,
not for those who wish to post an entirely
different point of view. SermonAudio is open
to both sides of this argument and you can
create your own blog for that purpose.

I will continue to delete adversarial
comments.

One point I am making in this post is that
those who have villified Westcott have
probably not listened to the man himself.

Another point is that all translators and
Biblical scholars are flawed, whether
Catholic priest Erasmus who indirectly was
responsible for the KJV or Westcott or
Spurgeon or all the KJV translators or all
the ESV translators. Given enough time, we
could pick apart any one of them.

But that would be time wasted. For the
"picker" is flawed too. And so am I.

Enjoy your Bible, whatever version God has
led you to, and keep learning...

Those who have honest well-thought-out
questions and a humble attitude are welcome
to post on this site, and I will gladly try
to answer.

Those who have an agenda of promoting their
own views on a subject must find another
venue, of which there are many on the
internet.

I will continue to delete comments that are
in attack mode rather than in the spirit of
honest inquiry.

We all have much to learn and must acquire a
humble approach to that learning. Yes?

I will have to delete comments that do not
edify, but only wish to argue and be right.
Those who have a differing opinion about the
KJV can easily find avenues to publish such.
I am using this one now to say:

1. The KJV is the Word of God. But

2. The KJV is not the only translation by
which I will be saved and sanctified and
brought to Heaven.

3. Those who trash the Scriptures because
they are in translations they are not used
to, endanger themselves and many others.

4. I have never banned the KJV. But the KJV
people ban other Bibles, even burn them.

5. God leads His people through various
stages. Some are being led for a season to
the KJV. Others are ready to move on. Do not
judge God's leading in other lives.

Much to think about. Where the Bible is [essentially] silent, so must we be. I will reserve comment on your analysis and leave it for others to consider. Thanks.

I'd be interested in documented proof that the two days are different. We must never say things just because we have always said them. Is not Christ our Lord? Nevertheless I do understand that we Christians shall stand before Christ at His coming, and the lost will stand before the Great White Throne after the Millennium. Please be careful about calling the KJV infallible, also. Only the original autographs from the apostles are so labeled by Christian scholars. KJV is a translation. A pretty good one, but with many technical errors. If you were raised on the KJV and had its old English explained to you, of course you would think it the easiest to understand. Put a person of this generation, a saved person, in front of a KJV and then a NKJV, and see which one brings a smile first. English has changed. We must change also. It's not a sin.

Wow. Someone needs to apologize to that Pentecost crowd that received his word and mistakenly all got baptized. And Cornelius and all the rest. No one is claiming baptism precedes saving grace but why start our Christian life in disobedience? Btw. The thief on the cross lived and died under that old dispensation...

Water baptism is all over the book of Acts. Can't see how it is not an ordinance of the Christian church.

Mike,
Generally speaking, God abhors mixing that which is good with that which is not. Jesus' story of the tares points this out also. I think your point and mine can both be made from the idea of the mixed multitude. And there is no question that they did cause some problems along the way.

I think also of the mixed multitude that first came to America's shores. Some to worship God, some to find gold. Like the mixed bag that has been called Christianity through the years.

Think of all of Rome's unholy additions to the purity of the Church.

You correctly point out that God saves a mixture of people. I was making the point that evil has been sewn in the midst of God's people.

As for your comment about Jews, since "Jew" is nothing more than a short form of Judah, and Judah has already come and gone in the story, I think it is fair to anticipate the name Jew. But I understand your point.

I do take seriously, if not painfully, your suggestion of bias in my writing and speaking. I have strived to be biased only by Truth as found in Scripture and the Son of God. May God have mercy on me if what you say is true.

Thanks for your observations, and attempting to keep the old guy sharp.

“ For Johanna ”
Johanna, I just discovered this comment, sorry for the delay. I feel a little uncomfortable also when I see a woman or child standing before me reading the very revelation of God. To me, this is as authoritative a Word as one can deliver, and would seem to be under the ban which the apostle suggested. Some might group it with prophecy. But prophecy seems to be with the miraculous utterances, which know no gender boundaries. One thing I am learning: it is the pastor(s), and not me, who is/are responsible for what is done in the church. I can speak with him/them privately, but then it is in God's hands.

“ No suffering now? ”
Then who is that crowd that comes to heaven out of great tribulation in Revelation 7:14? And why cannot Christ's coming be imminent and known by signs at the same time? If Jesus told Peter exactly when he was going to die, and Paul that he had a lot of work to do in Corinth, could that "imminence" you describe be possible?

I'm surprised no one is commenting on the bigger story. I mean, we know that people in high places have strange worship habits. But what about the fact that Viet Nam is now being given a clean bill of health in terms of its persecution of believers? Doesn't the government know about "show" churches that have been present in every Communist nation from the beginning. Christ is being sold out again. Pray for the suffering church of Vietnam!
