A Very Happy 2015 to SermonAudio and all our readers and commentators. May the Lord bless you and keep you and your families.
May the struggle be lined with His Grace for you.

BTW To help you all with Biblical theology interpretation and understanding, in 2015, get yourself:-
The Westminster Confession of Faith and its Catechism.
The Canons of Dordt.
And John Calvin's Institutes.
These will bring much pious fruit to your studies of Bible doctrines.

Psalm 1:
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Westminster Confession of Faith;
21/7. As it is of the law of nature that, in general, a due proportion of time be set apart for the worship of God; so, in his Word, by a positive, moral, and perpetual commandment, binding all men in all ages, he hath particularly appointed one day in seven for a Sabbath, to be kept holy unto him:a which, from the beginning of the world to the resurrection of Christ, was the last day of the week; and, from the resurrection of Christ, was changed into the first day of the week,b which in Scripture is called the Lord’s day,c and is to be continued to the end of the world, as the Christian Sabbath.d
a. Exod 20:8, 10-11; Isa 56:2, 4, 6-7. • b. Gen 2:2-3; Acts 20:7; 1 Cor 16:1-2. • c. Rev 1:10. • d. Exod 20:8, 10 with Mat 5:17-18.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The TULIP of the non-Calvinist

T. Man is less of a sinner than the Bible teaches.

U. Election is by God - BUT only when man gives his permission.

L. The Atonement did not work for most people.

I. Man can choose to reject grace, thereby defeating God's purpose.

P. Election, regeneration and salvation can be lost by the sinner.

What the non-Calvinist 'tulip' displays is an idolatrous view of self and an incomplete understanding of Bible doctrine. When the Calvinist observes this disclosure - he does not immediately think "not Calvinist" No he immediately sees a lack of Bible knowledge. Therefore conclusion made is, This is not a Christian witness.

As the Lord says
"Matt 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad."

Pretty bad when it's advocates can't even great their own history correct. John Calvin was not a participant in the synod that wrote the canons of Dort. So, TULIP is not original with him. Also, it is an interpretation of the Bible,so it borders on adding to God's Word to use BC's last sentence. If you call someone disagreeing with your opinion suffering for The Lord.....
Canons of Dordt - The spirit of Calvin was in the Synod. However I do realise the non-Calvinist cannot understand that. Both Calvinism and Dordt are doctrinal interpretations of Scripture, thanks be to the grace of God.

It is ludicrous to suggest that "interpretations" of Scripture are quote "adding" in the sense of error. Interpretation of Scripture by Calvinist/Reformed theology is guided by the Holy Spirit. TULIP proves that for those who know both Scripture and the Doctrines of Grace.

The elect do "suffer" for the Lord IN His name as He taught would happen.
As Christ stated ~ Matt 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake"

The scorn, deceit and attacks which decimate Christian doctrines are felt as an experience of suffering.

Hate has always been a feature of Satan's attack on Bible doctrine. By inciting hate within the sinner he spreads rejection and encourages heresy in man.
The Roman Catholics tried it after the Reformation and much of the anti-Calvin deception comes from Vatican sources in history.
Sadly we must expect the religious reprobates to stir up hatred, hostility and lies to seek to defeat God's holy purpose in mankind. Even Christ has been attacked throughout history in this way and the Pharisees tried to stone Him for teaching sound doctrines. John 10:22-39.
So we must expect to suffer at the hands of Satan and his followers today to.
However the elect know the truth and receive the Bible TULIP in knowledge and understanding.

It was God's will and purpose to save a Remnant of sinners who cannot even discern spiritually. With will and purpose, in an omniscient Lord, comes intention and with foreknowledge comes the end result in sight.
To achieve His intended salvation God provides the means and ability (faith) Himself and draws His elect to Christ and thus to salvation.

Quote;
"No less a part of this divine plan is the salvation of fallen sinners. However else one wishes to conceive it, God’s election of individuals to eternal life antedates creation. It is a pre-temporal act which the biblical authors describe as having transpired “before the foundation of the world” (Eph. 1:4; Rev. 13:8; 17:8) or “from the beginning” (2 Thess. 2:13). Election is a result of God’s gracious purpose to save sinners, according to which we have been “predestined” to obtain an inheritance (Eph. 1:11). All of which, Paul tells us, “was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity” (2 Tim. 1:9). One may wish to argue about the basis upon which God made his choice, but that it was a choice made in eternity past seems beyond dispute." (Sam Storms)

TULIP is Biblical.

P = Perseverance of the saints. The elect are kept by faith by the almighty power of God Himself. " Eph 2:10 we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them" And "Phil 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure" Chosen by God, redeemed by Christ and faith by the Holy Spirit; - Again honouring God. Thus the Biblical TULIP honours God and teaches God's sovereignty and His love and mercy through His Son Christ Jesus.

Calvinism teaches the Bible, teaches the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation and portrays God in His sovereignty and Christ in His Love and sacrifice for His followers the elect.

Those such as the Roman Catholics and the Arminians idolatrously teach the "other" gospel which promotes man and diminishes the Lord.
Some will say they come form 'another' theological position but then proceed to attack Calvinism and demonstrate their Arminian leanings.
So Two ways only = One. God saves by His own will, purpose and choice. - Two. God plus man saves.
Calvinism serves to give ALL the glory to God. Thus it is Biblical for those who can see it manifest in Scripture.

TULIP is Biblical.

L = Limited Atonement - A most controversial term! But why it is God and Christ honouring. God' sovereignty is built into it illustrating how God Limits the Atonement of His Son to the Elect only - Thus part of election and predestination. God knows the elect and who they are. Jesus knows His own sheep and they know Him as the Lord Himself taught us. Jesus did not die for those who go to hell, He didn't need to they are paying their own price for sin by eternal punishment. Thus even circumstance dictates that Atonement is Limited to those who are elect, saved and regenerated. A Christ honouring term for His great sacrifice for His disciples. Yet there are some who would argue that the atonement effect should be extended to those who are sent to hell???

I = Irresistible Grace - The Holy Spirit provides an inner calling only to the elect of God. This grace from God is irresistible 'of course' since this is the work of God the grace of God in His elect. The sinner cannot respond to the call of God. The Holy Spirit therefore works in the heart of the regenerated causing them to respond to God's calling to believe and come to Christ. Thus the called are the predestinated and the justified, Rom 8:30. Honouring God again.

TULIP is Biblical.

T = Total Depravity - the state of man before regeneration. The sinner is dead blind and deaf to the things of God. His heart is corrupt and evil. Thus Total Depravity accurately explains the state of the sinner. But it also gives all the glory to God it is a God honouring term in that ONLY God can save the depraved sinner. Only "grace of God" can change this evil hearted mortal from such a circumstance as terrible as this. Those who try to weaken this term are trying to place the sinner closer to God thus bring down God in His power and sovereignty.

U = Unconditional Election - Election must be unconditional considering mans depravity. God chose the elect before the foundation of the world, Eph 1:4,5. God's choice being unconditional is the will of God alone. "the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will" (v11) Thus we observe that faith and repentance are the gifts of God - Gifts necessary because man cannot discern spiritually. Man does not discern that he needs to be saved. Election by God is not determined by any quality in man nor therefore any foreseen 'good' act or quality in him.
Again we see the God honouring theology in this part of TULIP which of course is entirely Biblical.

If you read the statement Jesus taught at Matt 7:21-23 you find Jesus talking to some church goers who say they believe in Him, acknowledge His Lordship even emphasising it, they have prophesised in His name, cast out devils in the name of Jesus and done many wonderful works in the name of Jesus.

They sound like good Christians and in todays churches 'ARE' respected and considered to be good Christians.

But Jesus rejects them and declares He does not know them. That seems harsh.

Jesus teaches that regardless of many Christian confessions and professions many who think themselves Christian are not saved - not elect.

The powerful teaching we see in these verses is that addressing Jesus as Lord is not enough, what we perceive as "wonderful works" (Arminian and RCC ideology) is insufficient, even prophesy and battling against demons is not enough to be Christian.

C.H.Spurgeon Declares in sermon that Calvinism is the Gospel. But only some can see this light.
TULIP is Biblical but only some can see this light.

Faith is the gift of God, not human effort or ability. Eph 2:8/9 declares this but some try to keep it human.

God is Sovereign over His creation, He states that out of the same lump He made some unto honour some unto dishonour. Rom 9:21.

"As B.B. Warfield summed up the matter,
God established His church in the days of Abraham and put children into it.
They must remain there until He puts them out. He has nowhere put them
out. They are still then members of His Church and as such entitled to its
ordinances.

So it is that the Reformed branch of the church baptizes not only adult converts,
but also the children of believers.
The unity of the Scriptures expressed in the unity of the Covenant of
Grace supplies a number of contours for the doctrine of baptism. Baptism
initiates into the covenant, calls for internalization of the faith, distinguishes two communities among those who are baptized, and justifies the baptism of the children of believers.

It is in these ways that Reformed theology speaks of baptism as covenantal."
(Richard L. Pratt, Jr.
Professor of Old Testament, Reformed Theological Seminary)

I have found so many people who cannot see the Bible in Calvinism or indeed in the WCF.
I know of your past in the RCC and feel that your problem is that you have not fully left their convictions behind.
Calvinism is based upon Scripture truth. The WCF is based upon Scripture truth. These two documents are inspired and have been used by God to build His Reformed Church since they emerged in history.
The usual enemy of Calvinism are those who are 'free will' - Arminian - or Romish. Their problem is not that they cannot receive Calvinism or the WCF - But that they cannot receive all the elements of Bible Doctrine which are accurately reflected in the Reformed confessions and standards.
This is precisely the same struggle which brought the Canons of Dordt into existence. My hope and prayer is that you will receive the whole counsel of God in Scripture, Calvinism and the confessions.

Calvinists were sent by GOD into the world to teach the truth to the people. Thats why we stick to the Scripture alone to declare Biblical doctrine to the nations.

Other 'religions' such as Arminian, Liberal, dispensationalist, Jehovah's Witness and Roman catholic of course seek their salvation by works. Thus do they reject their sinful state and accord human self effort to a level which they believe to be mutually equal with the divine.

CANONS
Article 2 Man after the fall begat children in his own likeness. A corrupt stock produced a corrupt offspring. Hence all the posterity of Adam, Christ only excepted, have derived corruption from their original parent, not by imitation, as the Pelagians of old asserted, but by the propagation of a vicious nature.

Article 3. Therefore all men are conceived in sin, and by nature children of wrath, incapable of saving good, prone to evil, dead in sin, and in bondage thereto, and without the regenerating grace of the Holy Spirit, they are neither able nor willing to return to God, to reform the depravity of their nature, nor to dispose themselves to reformation."

Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved) AMEN!

Hey CU Back again!!!
Your monogram fits perfectly into eCUmenicalism!!! - Now I see where you're coming from.

But election does not work like that.

Rememeber ecumenism is just another word for compromise.

There has always been some group trying to dilute the "waters"
"1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the WATERS, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price."

Spurgeon sounded rather offended that Christ's sacrifice is for the sins of the whole world. He presents his opinion, but no scripture to back up his pointed opposition and his feeling of a supposed monstrous iniquity of those who held a different confession. His opinion is his and he(and you) are entitled to it. But to equate it with truth or a standard by which to judge others as reprobate is not the Gospel nor of divine approval. Spurgeon's opinions and the Calvinistic confessions are not the Gospel.

Again the Apostles testify of Jesus: "He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not our sins only, but the sins of the whole world." That certainly doesn't sound like Spurgeon's opinion you pasted to the Web.
