"The Rt Rev Jonathan Gledhill, the Bishop of Lichfield, said worship has become too complicated and time-consuming"The Bishop is absolutely correct here. The Anglican church should cut down on sermons and Bible readings and the doctrines which they teach. It would appeal much more to the Anglican pew fillers if they introduced more contemporary entertainment, music, dance and modern Liberal philosophy. Perhaps it would help more if they got rid of pulpits and the boring old sermons which their bishops and vicars put everyone to sleep with. The Anglican rule today is forget God and entertain the troops so a short service with rousing music and lyrics written for the flesh, might just fill the church and get the congregation rocking and rapturous. What a laugh that would be. |
