Like I said the quote does not state that Baptists originated in 1521.If you care to know the way the Baptist view their history you can read the excellently documented ]]Trail of Blood. If you do not like that then you can at least pay closer attention to a ]]Reformed Baptist . Below is a quote by Spurgeon: We believe that the Baptists are the original Christians. We did not commence our existence at the reformation, we were reformers before Luther and Calvin were born; we never came from the Church of Rome, for we were never in it, but we have an unbroken line up to the apostles themselves. We have always existed from the days of Christ, and our principles, sometimes veiled and forgotten, like a river which may travel under ground for a little season, have always had honest and holy adherents. Persecuted alike by Romanists and Protestants of almost every sect, yet there has never existed a Government holding Baptist principles which persecuted others; nor, I believe, any body of Baptists ever held it to be right to put the consciences of others under the control of man. We have ever been ready to suffer, as our martyrologies will prove..." |

That's your history not our history. Not only do you Calvs not only try to tell us what we believe, but also you want to tell us about our own history. How pathetic can you go. Hey, I tell you what. Don't try to rewrite our history and we will not rewrite yours. In addition you quote does not state that the Baptists originated in 1521. So you just wasted the 2 seconds you used to cut and paste. Also, anabaptists means rebaptizers. That's the heresy that you speak of. It's not rocket science. Really, trust me. Nevertheless, it does nothing to prove your point or disprove mine. Any encyclopedia in the world will tell you that the Reformers came from the Roman Catholic church, that they persecuted the Baptists, and that Calvin joined hands with the pope to kill Servetus. |
