John, I don't know a lot about this either but most everything that I've read by reputable (older) scholars agree with you that the Book of Psalms is exactly what Paul was referring to here.

Even if that's not a certainty, look where the use of man made hymns, ditties, choruses, etc. has gotten us.

Most of the music in most of the churches in my area sounds like what you used to hear in the bars in the 1970s. Little of it is really worshipful and none of it brings glory to God. Just man-centered entertainment.

I believe (I'm not kidding) that Jim Lincoln has jumped the fence.

I'm not going to ask him anything else (he never answers anyway) or get involved in any more of his mindless postings. I would advise anyone with a love and respect for God's Word to do the same.

Jim, if you read this, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. You need to be careful about what you say - especially when you don't know what you are talking about.

And Jim,

After you've answered John's question, please explain where YOU (Jim) believe God's Word was before your NASB came along. In your mind, did it even exist? You don't appear to believe that it does now.

At the risk of being compared to Links Lincoln, here's an interesting link to an article on the use of 'Easter' rather than 'Passover in Acts 12.4:

http://brandplucked.webs.com/easterreplenish.htm

The men who translated the AV were not sloppy or uninformed. They were brilliant men who were very careful about each verse and word that they translated. Why do you suppose that in this one particular verse (Acts 12.4) they chose to use 'Easter' rather than another word? You'll never convince me that it was an error.

Glenn Beck is a Morman and that makes him an undeniable believer (and in his case, promoter) of the doctrines of devils. No Christian should participate in a political cause with someone like that.

‎'Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel'? - II Corinthians 6.14-15

I'm a traffic engineer. Red light cameras actually increase the number of rear end accidents.

I'm a big fan of roundabouts (a relatively new concept in the U.S.). I believe they should be installed everywhere possible.

Glenn Beck doesn't preach Christ. He preaches Mormonism.

Jim 'Links' Lincoln: Ambiguous, glib and trite. You accomplished all three in the first paragraph of your reply (plus 2 links!).

I don't think you know where God's Word was for all those centuries, Jim.

Also, dragging out your ridiculous 'white sumpremist' argument is both childish and underhanded. You appear to be grasping at straws due to lack of substantive thought.

Come on, Jim, answer my question. Don't post a link & please don't quote Gil Rugh or James White.

You believe your NASB (and other modern 'versions') to be God's Word in the English language. The manuscript base that these versions rest on didn't exist until a little over 100 years ago. Much of what's contained in them was discarded by others for very obvious reasons.

So where was God's Holy Word up until then? Did God hide it from His Bride for centuries for some reason?

If He cared enough to be concerned with the very jots and tittles, surely He cared enough to preserve it for His children since our eternal destiny depends on it!

So where was God's Word before the NASB, Jim? Be specific. Don't be ambiguous, glib or trite. Try to answer with your own thoughts and beliefs, not someone else's.

I can answer the question with absolute, 100% certainty. Let's see you take a swing at it.

I'm still waiting for Jim to explain to me where God's Word was before his NASB was invented. I've asked him many times but he's offered no answer that I've seen.

Jim, You keep saying the same thing over and over and over again and I'm pretty sure you haven't changed anyone's mind.

The AV translator's did indeed want God's Word in a form that every English speaking person can understand. The problem with your 'new translations' is that much of what's in them IS NOT GOD'S WORD. Why does this seem to go right over your head? The AV translators were not translating from a corrupted text base.

Where was God's Word before your NASB came to be, Jim? Please answer this time.

I'm beginning to think that Jim 'Links' Linkoln must be on the payroll for the Lockman Foundation or Zondervan (or both).

"Now think about it folks. Every sermon preached in the evangelical world is based on the word of God, yes? But why should I listen to sermons preached by Bible doubters? Effectively they are saying that they can only HOPE that the words they preach from are God's words."

John,

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your posts here and the excellent job that you do presenting the argument for those of us who understand the importance of adhering to a sound, trustworthy Bible!

Your post that I've quoted above really gets to the very heart of the matter, doesn't it?

Keep up the good work. God bless you, friend!

Like John, I also read the Authorized Version myself, and study it exclusively, because, unlike Jim Lincoln, I am aware that it is THE WORD OF GOD, and therefore I have no need of any other.

I also know of several auspices of an organization here in the U.S. called Bearing Precious Seed which publishes REALLY nice editions of the AV exclusively and sells them for half (or less) than what the religious prostitutes like Nelson and Zondervan sell their corruptions for. This is in addition to the good old Trinitarian Bible Society which publishes the AV exclusively and gives away loads of them.

I believe most people who actually still read their Bibles, read the trusty, time tested AV.

I apologize, Joe. I realized I should have addressed it to jpw later when I re-read it but it was too late to edit.

It was actually intended to be helpful. Many people believe that those of us who use the AV exclusively don't think the Bible should be offered in any other language besides English. Not true, though. A well translated Bible based on the proper manuscripts in any language is a wonderful thing!

No, Jim Lincoln's problem is deception.

He has been deceived.
