I don't watch TV much but I read this article and believe Mr. Robertson was very well spoken on the subject and didn't go to extreme's. He even went so far to say he wouldn't disrespect anyone. I think the 'vile and extreme' remarks came for GLAAD. It's just gone over the top, you can't say anything against the gay lifestyle without it getting twisted. Disgusting.

I am not catholic, however, I do approve of the way he is focusing the catholic churches view on the poor! I feel like we could all do a little more.

Barry,
Certainly agree with your thoughts on faith and what it DOES not hinge on, but I was asking how he reconciles two very antithetical worldviews ( Christianity and worldly Democrat/Liberal worldview). Just having a discussion, not discrediting someone's faith.
Wasn't implying that 1517, I try to never take people to task SA or anywhere. I've actually followed SA News comments for a few years and I always enjoy a good discussion. Jim and Mike from NY, Mr. B John from the UK all are my favorites. I love you guys. Just letting everyone know how I feel. It seems as though Jim gets a raw deal, and he certainly doesn't need me to take up for him. I vote democrat and republican alike. I cringe when i hear anyone taking up for one party or another and compare it to faith. I have NO faith in NO politician or party. Sorry this is so long, I really wasn't taking you to task.

I respect Jim's opinion on things and on many things we agree. I don't think that his or anyone's salvation hinges on to whom he decides to vote!!! Redistributing wealth may not be a biblical precept but neither is what party one votes for.

I would contend that we haven't just given the government "far too much influence and power with our children", but that we have actually given them our children. The school system is with the children more waking hours in a day than the parents - what does one expect? And when the kids see the school boss their parents around, the kids quickly recognize who the authority is.
Barry, I know your situation may be different, with fosters and all. Does KY not allow foster kids to be homeschooled?
No, they have to be enrolled in public school.

I have a question. Why didn't your wife stand her ground and refuse to leave that public school? That is what I would have done. There is no way that I would take any crap from any stupid public school official.
Well, that is a bit complicated, she was intimidated by the principle. She was also a little bit embarrassed when he told her in the front office with everyone there, he should have taken her to his office and explained himself better. It didn't work and in the end we prevailed.

Again, we have given them far too much influence and power with our children.

I don't get it. What was the big deal about that man walking over to that stupid school to walk home with his kids?
John, I'm telling you, we have given way, way too much power to these school officials. They claim that what they do is for the privacy and safety of the children. I think it's a control issue!
My son was having issues in P.E. My wife went to watch and see if she could see what was upsetting him and the principle told her she was not allowed to observe our son in class. I called the school and told them that they have to let my wife in, it's a public school that accepts public funds. They have no choice. They finally let her in, it's just simply gotten ridiculous at the stupidity of public education in America!

I'm not saying all shots are bad, I am saying, I'm not sure all shots are good. I just know what I saw in my son and the changes that happened. We need to take a look at them. More isn't necessarily better! Just because some works I don't think they all do. Why the epidemics???

Thanks Chris, that's a touching story you have there! If I could just plant seeds like the Koopmans did in a few of the kids we come into contact with I would consider that a praise!!!

“We believe that this constitutional free speech right, thus limited, will perform the intended role of assuring that the free speech of New Jersey’s citizens can be heard, can be effective, and can reach at least as many people as it used to before the downtown business districts were transported to the malls,” the court wrote.

It's been decided in court, the mall is , as they put it, 'quasi-public venue', why do these battles have to keep being faught?

Thank you Mike, yes I am blessed with an amazing family. I'm not quite sure why God blessed me as much as he has, however, I'm very thankful

Thanks for the words Chris, and Penelope and SF thanks as well, you guys are awesome. I respect Jim's opinion I just disagree. I love Jim and his post on SA.

Chris, I love my son very much,he is so interesting to be around. I've had 5 children of my own and we are foster parents. We've had many kids in our house and we treat them all as if they are our children while they are with us. But my 11 year old son, the one with autism, is so special. The milestones some people see in there children are met with great fan fare and excitement with Trevor. I'm not saying if I was blessed to go back in time I wouldn't change anything. I want my son to have a happy and fullfilled life. But God put this before me and my wife for a reason. And we feel blessed!!! Very blessed with our boy, indeed. God Bless you all.

Jim, have to disagree with you on this point. Too many injections, too young. Not any proof they work. My son will never take another injection!!! Ever!!!
By the way if you and yours are vaccinated why worry about an epidemic, aren't you supposedly protected? In fact, if all are injected, why the epidemic? Maybe that is an indication it doesn't work in the first place.
Trevor Hammack is a good example of one that suggests there is no connection between the vacinations and autism, but he himself is suffering from a vacine injury.

Too many shots too soon! It needs to be looked at, 30 years ago autism was 1:10,000, today it's 1:88.

I'm not sure if I've told this on SA but I have an 11 year old son. He was developing wonderfully, eating normally, at 18 months he was saying some words and starting to learn his colors. We had the doctor give him a flu vaccine, we thought we were helping to protect our child. With in a month he quit talking and looking at us. He would'nt sleep or eat normally either. That's how qucik it happened. I'm not sure if I can ever forgive myself for allowing that to happen to my son. I am adamant that he will receive no more shots!!!

Good morning Jim, your and early bird this morning! Interesting article indeed, there is a very serious movement in Ky to 'ditch mitch'. I'm not very enthusiastic about either of Ky's senators. I think Rand Paul is making an unseccessful bid in 2016. He will never make it. However, I don't put my faith in any politician! That would be demo or repub. Neither party represents my views or beliefs, regardless what John Y says about the republican party!!!
Regardless, this should be a very interesting election cycle!

you are correct Marty MCD, 53 democrats, 45 repubs, and 2 indep. that caucus with the dems. that would mean that there are some of those repubs in there voting with the dems. The story didn't give a break down of the voting, i'm sure it's available somewhere online.

Unemployment no better, economy still faltering, and they waste their time, our time, on this mess. To hell in a handbasket indeed Mr. Carl!

I'm not quite so surprised about this move Chris, the SBC seems to be softening their views a little bit towards this sort of thing.
My wife and I are foster parents and Kentucky is one of the last states that don't allow gays to be foster parents. There is only one private agency that will allow gay people to be foster parents.
Gay's still can not adopt in Kentucky.
