Kevin Swanson once "joked": "If you want to see the real American idol, drive down Any Street USA at night and it looks like everyone is welding in their front rooms!" Now we laugh every time we're out at night because he was so spot on! Sad!

Dorcas, the TV went and an embarrassing fortune in movies... We haven't regretted it a day since! Now, we still use Moody science videos for the kids school subjects and there are select movies we do watch but it's nearly impossible to find anything that's not needing sensoring!

*chuckling* My dear brother John UK... We have not owned a TV for nearly 10 years! My kids have NO idea who Katy Perry is AND YET we live in a world where you cannot venture into a city without being bombarded with visuals, conversations at the checkout line repeating the trends and popular artists, the immodest styles of popular dress and even the car next to you blaring out Perry-like (or worse) songs! We are not called to be monks. We shelter our children but we are still in the world - the struggle is to not become a part of it, while still praying for those in it. Perhaps as our children age and we also continue to mature in the faith this will not be the exact same struggle it is now, but, dear brother, in this race we are running toward something as much as we are fleeing from another! Aren't we?

"But you, dear friends, as you build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, expecting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life. Have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; have mercy on others but with fear, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh."
Jude 1:20-24

It seems everyone might be touching on the three parts of mercy? If we mind our Christian duty (to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God), we can recognize the insidious evil performed by Perry, warning our children and others from getting near even "the garment defiled"; we can pray for God to do a mighty work in her and others like her; and be humbled knowing it was God who keeps us from the same miserable state.

Thank you Frank for you comments regarding the different roles of men and women. Indeed my husband and I are in full agreement! I did not in any way find ladybugs comments to be feminist - we have to have conversations frequently with our boys about fleeing from people like this and with our daughter to see the evil in a fallen world and shun it, clinging to the righteousness of Christ. As a family with young children we have to pray for God to help us balance out the need to fle

The Bible CLEARLY teaches that my HUSBAND AND I, that is, the PARENTS are responsible for the children's care, NOT the village, the government, my neighbor or any one else. I stand and fall before God for the duty's performed or neglected toward His children in my care. The Bible teaches us that we are not to harm or wrong our neighbor: "Love does no wrong to a neighbor. Love, therefore, is the fulfillment of the law." (Rom 13:10) and "Speak and act as those who will be judged by the law of freedom." (James 2:12). Our decision to decline vaccines does not wrong or threaten our neighbor. If vaccines were truly effective, my neighbor would not be in danger from someone who is not vaccinated. A government-mandatory vaccination program will only promote violence against your neighbor. My children do not suffer in ANY way from not being vaccinated - ABSOLUTELY NO WAY. Nor do they pose a risk to anyone else's children. The idea that I am abusing my children by not vaccinating them is an absolute threat to the welfare and safety of my family as it removes my God-given duty to protect my children from danger and places their bodies under the control of those who fear man more than God.

ladybug, thank you. He is a member of the SDA church and holds beliefs that are apart from the Bible.

Again, if he wants to make vaccinations mandatory, that means he wants to make them a law. A law is only a law because it can be enforced. How does he plan on enforcing this?

Also, the SDA hospitals are some of the best in the US (especially Loma Linda, CA). HOWEVER, they do practice "medically necessary" abortions and so Dr. Carson probably has no ill favor toward the way most of the vaccinations nowadays are created.

Hi Dorcas!! Doing great here! Can't say the same for my neighbor. God's mercies are new every morning and we pray, too, that God will do a work in her husband. It's good to hear from you and Frank! I pray you're both doing great and the family as well!

Jim, since I'm on a mobile you'll have to paste the link into your browser. This is a link to a medical journal (so there will be no qualms about unfair journalistic reporting) regarding the CDC's handling of vaccinations and mercury, just from last year. This study was pursued through the courts by the CDC before peer evaluation was allowed to be done. The only reason the study went ahead was because a group of international doctors had already begun the study and there were several universities who would have had serious financial issues if those doctors had left. Otherwise, the CDC wanted their "findings" unchallenged. Anyway, here it is...

Scofield, to be sure, I am in no way trying to instruct you or argue with you. If my statement came off as offensive I am sorry, it was not intended that way. We teach our children that God has given you a brain - use it to the best of that given ability. But we aren't to lean on our own understanding and so that requires us to do some due diligence, with prayer- otherwise we tend toward laziness and Proverbs is replete with warnings on the fate of the lazy. My point was, simply, we should not let others do the thinking for us but be about pleasing God and not man. (That was probably a gentler way of saying that... Sorry, no offense intended.)

S Scofield:
"Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him." (James? 1:5)

I am so thankful that we serve the God who blessed us with a level of intellect that glorifies Him and not us, yet He leads us. Our decisions in any regard in life should be as Jesus told us, "Yet not my will, but Yours be done". That takes no intellect, just the fear of God, and that is the beginning of understanding (by His definition and not man's).

Hep B: I wouldn't recommend saying that to the OB nurse with the Hep syringe. That's what started the whole thing with us... I got the distinct feeling she didn't care about facts...

Here's another thought: if vaccinations are mandatory, they are law. A law is only a law because it can be enforced; otherwise it is only a recommendation. And then one might ponder exactly how would this law be enforced... I see no pleasantness in that.

Yes, penny, we most surely had God's protection at that moment! I was too angry to be afraid while it was happening but the gravity of the situation hit my husband and I when we were left alone for a minute. We were sick. Still makes me sick when I think of it.

From the article:
“If you believe absolutely in the benefit and protective value of vaccination, why does it matter what others do?” she asks rhetorically. “Or don’t do? If you believe you need vaccination to be healthy and protected, then by all means vaccinate your child and yourself. Why should you even be concerned what your neighbor chooses to do for his child – if vaccination works? The idea of herd immunity is still based on the idea that in individual cases vaccines actually are protective."

An interesting side note, pediatrician's now have MMRI's: measles, mumps, rubella and influenza. if you're getting a flu shot for your kido's, please double check what else might be tagging along. Better yet, do some serious research on your own and weigh the risks against the possible benefits of the flu shot or any vaccination for that matter.

Mike, great points! My Dad said "Life is tough. It's tougher when you're stupid." (John Wayne maybe?). If you're willing to let everyone think for you there is no fear of God in you and you're no smarter than a doorknob. I would pray that Christians humbly seek God through this mess of information and at least be informed as much as possible. You're not shooting up "your kid" but a child of God. A parent should do their knowledgable, prayerful best, not at the behest of their fellow mans understanding but from a desire to glorify God as those children are His image bearers, too.

Frank, thank you, as always for your prayers!! The days seem to be turning evil - but that isn't a surprise and keeps us in prayer! With our third baby, we had a nurse literally screaming at us about how evil we were for not allowing our child to have the Hepatitus shot. We were embroiled with a social worker within minutes and the only reason we got out of it was because we were friends with the police officers who showed up. Our best friends who had their baby a week later were simply informed that their baby had been given the shot. They were furious but what could they do? Soon this just might be the way it is done. Parents needs to be wise and make decisions with PRAYER first and gather information from reliable sources. Our job is to protect our little sheep and when a family reaches that decision regarding vaccinations they should be allowed that choice without hindrance.

Honestly, if it isn't Carson, it will be someone else. This has been the trend for at least the past 10 years. The government schools are legally allowed to give your child birth control without parental consent - what's stopping them from vaccinating your child "in a state of emergency" without your foreknowledge? When babies are born in hospitals the list of vaccination rounds and their due dates are given to the mother and appointments scheduled. Try getting out of one... We did with our third and that's one of the main reasons we've had the rest at home. If a parent wants to vaccinate their child, that's their choice and not my business. And if I choose to not vaccinate mine, that's my business, too. Government should not dictate my child's welfare as they do not belong to them.

Their idols are silver and gold,
The work of men’s hands.
They have mouths, but they do not speak;
Eyes they have, but they do not see;
They have ears, but they do not hear;
Noses they have, but they do not smell;
They have hands, but they do not handle;
Feet they have, but they do not walk;
Nor do they mutter through their throat.
Those who make them are like them;
So is everyone who trusts in them.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Thank you, this series was very informative. Not only are the new translations inaccurate, but they lack the majestic language of the KJV. I find the old English is also easier to memorize.

"And I pray this: that your love will keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment, so that you can approve the things that are superior and can be pure and blameless in the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God."
