My wife & I homeschooled all three of our kids all of the way thru school. I can assure you from first hand experience that these homeschool 'conferences' are nothing more than organized opportunities for charlatans and fly-by-night companies to exploit (mainly) Christians with gimmickery and silliness for profit. There are usually a few reputable publishers or colleges in attendance but for the most part it's people running questionable cottage industries trying to make a fast buck off of gullible Christians by peddling nonsense. Most of them will be selling Amway next year. These conferences are also a perfect opportunity for cults and heretics to plant the seeds of their propaganda amongst young Christian families via 'seminars' and presentations. I've watched them do it. Sadly, homeschool conferences continue to be very well attended in spite of the fact that the organizers now charge outrageous prices for admittance, having realized homeschool (mostly single-income) families will pay it. Plenty of sound, trustworthy educational materials can be shopped and purchased online. Ken Ham should be glad they kicked him out. |

jpw wrote: problems with music today are an outpouring of a compromised church. Fixing the music won't change it. Lyrics about forsaking all for Christ would contradict with the Sunday message to compromise, that peace is war and health is illness. The church of America faces a duality that she doesn't know, with 2 masters. Of course it shows through in her music. I agree. |

Jim Lincoln,Why don't you publish a booklet about the alledged superiority of the NASB or the NKJV over the AV? Make sure to quote extensively from the AV, NASB & NKJV throughout. Distribute it widely. Then notice that no one anywhere is saying one word to you about the verses quoted from the AV. You can quote, quote, quote to your heart's content. Soon, however, notice how quickly you are contacted by The Lockman Foundation, Zondervan or Thomas Nelson regarding your use of the NASB or NKJV! I suspect a cease & desist order and/or a lawsuit will follow if you don't pay them an exhorbitant royalty. Try it! |

"The makeup of any Bible translation team that is entirely British, as far as I have seen, has always led to an inferior version of the Bible. The KJV is a prime example."That may be the most stupid, mindless, asinine statemant I've ever read. I said I wasn't going to say anything more to or about Jim Lincoln's shallow posts but this one just takes the cake. Where do you think we Americans were at the time the AV was produced, Jim? Also, do you suppose it could be that one of the reasons God blessed and caused Britain to thrive and prosper for so many years might have been so that He could provide us with the production and widespread distribution of His perfect Word in the English language? Next year is the 400th anniversary of the AV. Try reading one or two of the books that will doubtless be produced regarding the AV's history and see if you don't think that might be the case. Do you ever think, Jim? Or (as it appears) do you just mindlessly cut & paste the senseless musings of other men who don't know what they are talking about? And please share with us exactly which other version has been translated by a 100% British committee since the KJV. |
