Judas was a preacher; nay, he was a foremost preacher, “he obtained part of this ministry,” said the Apostle Peter..... Understand, my brethren, that no gifts can ensure grace, and that no position of honor or usefulness in the Church will necessarily prove our being true to our Lord and Master. Doubtless there are bishops in Hell, and crowds of those who once occupied the pulpit are now condemned for ever to bewail their hypocrisy. You that are Church-officers, do not conclude that because you enjoy the confidence of the Church, that therefore of an absolute certainty the grace of God is in you. Perhaps it is the most dangerous of all positions for a man to become well known and much respected by the religious world, and yet to be rotten at the core. To be where others can observe our faults is a healthy thing though painful; but to live with beloved friends who would not believe it possible for us to do wrong, and who if they saw us err would make excuses for us — this is to be where it is next to impossible for us ever to be aroused if our hearts be not right with God. To have a fair reputation and a false heart is to stand upon the brink of Hell. From Spurgeon Gold.2Pe1:10a "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure.." |

Already been done. Job 9:15 Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.:16 If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice. .... 9:24 The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he? 9:25 Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good. 9:26 They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey. 9:27 If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself: 9:28 I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent. 9:29 If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain? 9:30 If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean; 9:31 Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me. 9:32 For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment 10:1 My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul. 10:2 I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me. 10:3 Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress... JOB lost. Job 42:6 "I repent" |

Candidates Mum On Gay Marriage Debate I couldn't get the NPR link to go thru for this, and neither McCAIN's nor Obama's mum is interviewed for their opinion on anything in the SA part!!! Though, for those who think that McCAIN is old, his mum is out campaigning for him, so he can't be THAT old... Who cares what their mums think on this? Then IT struck me what the headline meant: For the presidential candidates there is one issue that they haven't talked about much: gay marriage. So NOW these two need a running mate, so they're gonna dump their wives and engage in a sodomite hook up! win-win! a McCAIN-Obama or Obama-McCAIN ticket can't lose! Now, divorce is nothing new for McCAIN, but this might be a shock for Michelle...then I realized, with Obama's Moslem background, maybe he'll keep her and count McCAIN as part of the legal 4 spouse rule (liberal Moslem). And THEN it also struck me, that as much as people have been speculating about McCAIN hooking up with Mitt Romney, maybe the Mormon stuff's rubbed off on McCAIN ,and he'll keep his current spouse, too. TRULY For both Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain, it is risky territory, where they have as much to lose as they have to gain. |

Call it civil affairs, or politics, or affairs of state. For one thing, a sizeable number of believers allowed President George W. Bush to redefine their Christian principles almost out of existence. They willingly looked the other way while Bush betrayed his word (not to mention the Constitution) and catapulted conservative principles into outer darkness. To the point, that they can now even support someone as liberal as John McCain and still call him a "conservative." I will say it straight out: any Christian or conservative who supports John McCain has no principles left worth defending!" |

The battlefield where the devil has amassed his greatest forces and is thrusting his deadliest armies is the surrender of U.S. national sovereignty & independence, & creation of global government. And it is our own political & corporate leaders that are facilitating this chicanery. Furthermore, by refusing to oppose this surrender, Christian leaders are complicit. Obviously, the surrender of our independence has been ongoing for some time. However, under Bill Clinton and especially under G.W. Bush, the pace has quickened exponentially. Tony's right about Party politics and this issue:]]Save The Planet? How About Saving The Republic? The American people have far more to fear from Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, and John McCain than they do from any foreign adversary, because our leaders have proven that they have absolutely no fidelity to the principles of constitutional government. It is our duty to "throw off" any system of government that does not secure our liberties and protect our constitution. And this we have not done. Christian pastors and ministers have failed us. The "Religious Right" has failed us. College professors have failed us. High School teachers have failed us. Newspaper editors and publishers have failed us. TV news anchors and reporters have failed us. Parents have failed. Friends have failed. The two major political parties have failed. As a whole, no one is talking about, or even thinking about, the loss of constitutional government, national independence, and sovereignty. Few seem even conscious that this is taking place. Nancy Pelosi can talk about saving the planet all she wants to: her duty, however, is to preserve, protect, and defend the U.S. Constitution. And that is also the job of every single American citizen. |

Enns claims Genesis presupposes an ancient understanding of the structure of the cosmos, & Genesis contains mythic elements that are in ancient Near Eastern documents such as Enuma Elish & argues Moses could not have written the Pentateuch because "linguistic evidence" does not support such a claim. ]]Who Wrote Genesis (Torah) ??? "82% probability the book has just one author:computer" Omni mag He maintains that the O.T. contains a good deal of "theological diversity" in which different and even conflicting things are taught in different places. That is to say, they "read into" O.T.texts distinctively Christian meanings that could not have been intended by the original authors. ]]reflections-by-a-christian-college-professor Enns' call for a revised attitude toward the Bible is simply rhetorical justification for post-modern rejection of system & coherence. |

To Jim's claims "I haven’t found any major Bible version that contradicts well-established Christian theology." I noted NASB says Jesus is a "begotten God" in Jn 1:18.he retorts:7/27/08 4:42 PM
Jim Lincoln wrote: You're a Gnostic! ]]see Jn 1v18Jim's own ASV says the NASB is wrong! Is it be heios (Son) or theos (God)? The oldest known Greek manuscripts, P66 and P75, read only begotten God. However, these manuscripts all come from the Alexandrian line and smack of ancient Gnosticism. The Gnostics taught that Christ was a begotten god, created by God the Father, whom they called the Unbegotten God. When those who had been tainted with Gnosticism cite John 1:18, they cite it as only begotten God. Such is true of Tatian (second century), Valentinus (second century), Clement of Alexandria (215 AD), and Arius (336 AD). On the other hand, we find many of the orthodox fathers who opposed Gnosticism quoting John 1:18 as only begotten Son (Irenaeus, Tertullian, Basil, Gregory Nazianzus, and Chrysostom). The New World Translation of the Jehovah's Witnesses also uses the phrase `only begotten god.' This is, of course, in line with their teaching that Christ is a created god. |

Wesley used the King James version of the Bible for his sermons: For example: ]]Using 'charity' ( 1611) not his version: 'love" ]]Index of Wesley's Sermons God blessed Wesley based on his preaching and his sermons are what people remember. Others on this site note Billy Graham's early use of the 1611 and blessing, and then the decline when he slipped into new versions. |

]]ignorant knuckle-draggers "I never said we were unreasoning animals, I said we were animals. If you deny that we are then you need to go take a basic science course." F. Dust This reveals why believers in the theory of evolution have the convictions of religious zealots. It also reveals why those who don’t believe as they do are seen as ignorant knuckle-draggers. If evolution is true, then man is simply an animal. That means he is free to embark on his sexual prowls, because it is nothing but a basic instinct to do so. It’s his procreative nature to fornicate, and therefore not a sin. For the atheist, this is a hill to die on. As one evolutionist says, "We are humans, yes, we are apes too. What you seem to ignore is that classifications need levels of categories. For instance, Chimps are chimps, just like humans are humans, and we both are apes (higher order of classification). The ape equation, we being animals too, is a natural conclusion, nothing to do with being 'sinners.'" (Italics added). Evolution swings open a door to do whatever the evolutionist pleases, as long as what he does is within the bounds of a civil law he is ever expanding to accommodate his sinful desires. R.Comfort |
