I did not claim mass killings Neil. Your question regarding how many people were killed by the Union League and its affiliates would be impossible to find out just as much as it would be impossible to find out how many people were killed by the KKK.

Please request what kind of statistics you're looking for and I'll be happy to fill you in. Question marks is all I need. BTW didn't mean to restart the War Between the States on this little forum.😉 Just trying to dialog here, let's keep our cool.

And why is the American revolution a rabbit trail? It's simply making a legitimate comparison between two historical events. The colonies the colonies separated because their rights and liberty were threatened and the American south did the same almost a century later. Simply following in the founder's footsteps.

BTW I'm very grateful for those monuments (and street names and town and county names) that were set up by previous generations to respect and remember our confederate heros. Please note that Mississippi remembers both confederate battle flags on our state flag. Other southern states do the same to a lesser degree. Heritage, not hate.

You probably read about it from a source that views it positively. Members of the KKK say it's pretty harmless as well - but they're the wrong people to ask. Get a copy of "The War Between the States" by John Dwyer and read it cover to cover. "The Secret Six" is a good one as well. Both written by godly, very educated men.

And yes I do agree that the Southern Democrats had a raging racism and that they worked with the clan. No disagreement there.

Read all about the Union league. They were like the KKK to southern Democrats (and they made no distinctions when it came to race either).

Neil, check the facts. Radical Republicans did murder many, many southerners, both black and white. They were the ancestors of today's progressives and whether they did it intentionally or not, they introduced the American version of socialism that is so prevalent today. My homeland is still reeling from the effects of their tyrannical regime - Mississippi in particular.
And if secession is the essence of Anarchy, then what about our founding fathers? I suppose they were all anarchists for separating from England?

I don't find it all surprising that one of the most aggressively secular Western countries is all about marijuana. Other than assisted suicide (which Canada already fully embraces), how else do you escape the hell on Earth that institutionalized sin creates for mankind? Why not just live in the non-reality that drugs create? If you've rejected Christ as most of Canada has done, where else is there to turn? Pray that the light of the gospel would pierce through the inky darkness that covers Canada. And let's not forget that America is just a step behind the religious trends of our northern neighbors.

Folks have been doing this kind of thing to Jesus for the past two millennium. You just have to be able to tell what's the real thing and what isn't - that's why He left us His word.

Amen QC! All the efforts of the mind are useless unless sanctified and used by the spirit of God! I can think of countless examples from my own life observations and from history of folks who had an education/discipleship that was far better than mine and yet turned out to be wicked failures (Judas being the epitomy of this). I've also seen the complete opposite. "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it."

I think the kind of cardinals that hang out at bird feeders would do a much better job than these freaks.

Jimmy, I'd like to attempt to show you the utter foolishness of your statement, but as in the past, it's a waste of time. Take Plain Old Tim's advice.

The Quiet Christian writes:
"BDF, I dare say your parents didn't have any nonsense in your homeschool curriculum for you and Just A Guy and the rest of your brothers and sisters."

No sir we didn't (and don't). I would say the greatest educational gift my parents have given us is not so much a Christian curriculum but the ability to think in terms of God's terms - a biblical worldview. Even most christian curriculums are simply sprinkled with a few grains of christian salt rather tham teaching christian, critical thinking. Because of this, even when some nonsense did sneak in to the material we used, we spotted it and interpreted it properly. Sometimes my parents (and brothers 😉) tell me that I turned out a bit more radical than intended. If I can do for my children someday what my parents did for me, I'll call it success! And yes Plain Old Tim, we have a lot of great books on small-scale farming. These books do discuss the breeding of waterfowl, but since it happens that
all ducks are straight, it's not an issue.

Didn't Jesus say something about a millstone and the bottom of the sea one time? For some reason this article brought that to mind.

Speaking of Catholics again, it's interesting to note that six of the Supreme Court justices are Roman Catholic, two are secular Jews, and one is Episcopalian. Bearing Proverbs 1:7 in mind,I'd say they all have a poor starting point for their jurisprudence.

Duh! Witchcraft has been made out to be cute and fun in movies and television for decades. And as a theme in American entertainment, it's only growing in popularity. Just look around and Walmart and see what I mean. Especially at this time of year.
What the article said about humans being spiritual creatures couldn't be truer. Atheism never lasts through generations - eventually men and women try to fill the void and get back in contact with the spiritual world - and Satan and His minions are always ready and waiting to whisper their lies in itchy ears. My generation is falling asleep into a nightmare that they won't be able to rouse themselves out of. Pray that God will send an awakening!

Amen John UK. We should not be surprised in the least by satanic people invoking satan. Perhaps we should be surprised when they don't. There is a Holocaust going on in this world with an aspect of wickedness that far outweighs Hitler's evil- it's victims are helpless, silent, and will never live to recount the horrors they experienced. But God hears their cries and will avenge the blood of innocent. He promises it.
