I have a similar situation with my late-teen children,
you remind me of one of the ways ive consoled myself is the little ive seen of youth ministries is not good so maybe its for the best

we have a small bible group which meets once a week its basically my family and one or two thers but we have our own minister who is retired baptist miinister who undertakes the teaching so God has well blessed us and been very generous - i think not many families have their own minister !

I was discussing the reformed path with a lady today and she noted it was a lonely path and i think she is right
our arminist brethren have a more social time of it but those of us who have been made to understand the doctrines of grace and sovreignty cannot sit comfortably with teaching that will not give God the whole glory for our awakening and this discomfort is experienced in some of the ways you describe and causes a certain loneliness but theres no other way for us.

i enjoyed the links to gil rugh i shall listen to more

Many call themselves Christian but cannot receive the truth. God's law IS truth. Psalm 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
hello pendalle, can you enlarge a little on this ? i meet more than a few christians who are absolutely unwilling to receive basic doctrine and substitute their own in contradiction to clear biblical precept. frequently they are 'mature' christians confident in their knowlege but my own observation is that what they hold is at serious variance with scripture and im not talking about the relatively minor differences and debate we have on this forum

what is going on ?

is this idolotary the making of God to suit themselves ?

sometimes i worry because why is it some people gladly receive correction and biblical truth whilst others resist almost as a knee jerk reaction
again im not talking about the relatively minor points that we differ about on this forum

"Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" - Luke 18:8
If Jesus comes in the lifetime of my sons and of course He may it is to them that the question concerns.

They have always been very good about going to church from a young age they went for years to a very poor sunday school but i didnt know any better as I didnt know the true Gospel but they never complained and now they only have a few years left with me and they have never had fellowship with christians their own age except for rare occasions - i feel sad about this at times as its going to be difficult for them in the years ahead. I have given them what foundation i could, creation and calvinist doctrine but believers need the friendship of other believers as well, its been all work and no play.
it undermines my work with them when i introduce them to professing christians who set the kind of example with regard to fellowship and hospitality which would make an infidel blush

Please tell me, where are the faithful churches?
i travel to quite a good church but recently we moved and i visited a local non conformist church and took my family as well. its only a small congregation i gave my address out and invited folk to call in and we have been to a few services. most of the congregation are elderly or retired but no one has come to visit us in the two months we have been here nor invited us to visit or phone numbers etc. even tho we would be the only family with teenage chidren in the church

Im not suprised, most churches and christians could not be less interested in new comers i was a bit embarrassed for my boys as i had taken them to the church and i explained i hoped one day they would find a church with people in it who would consider the duty of hospitality toward other believers .

I said i was sorry to my boys for taking them to that place as i feel it was my fault. I explained that although this is normal in the church today they werent to think that it was right and not to trust people just cos they go to churc

hospitality is a christian duty but truth is that the infidel, moslem, mormon and atheist fulfil this much better than christians.

im not short of friends mostly not saved tho

i'm struggling in my faith. it seems like i'm growing apart from my God and Father and that is not what i wish to do.
dear august You might be suprised, even amazed to learn that many if not all of us on here have had problems with our walk in the past even tho we all appear to be upbeat and knowlegable about the Word

This is normal.

Discipline dear boy, set aside half an hour for the word and a little prayer wether you feel like it or not and listen to SA sermons especially in my view the doughty humble thrice blessed don fortner

Im guessing here this might be a dry patch in which case having emerged the other end you will be rewarded three times over God is extremely generous under these circumstances try to discern Gods providence in all this, is there something that God is showing me or teaching me ? OR.....you might be in the clutches of works religeonists who are telling you things like what YOU must do to be saved and YOU have to have enough faith and giving you incorrect answers to your questions and thus poisoning your doctrine which is very discouraging (i met one yesterday)

in this case you must seperate from these well meaning but misguided people- my money is on the latter im just guessing tho

that baptist type 'ask (good ol) jesus into your heart ' evangelism is hardly any better than RC doctrines

some modern evangelicals get exited about RC heresy while practicing many of their own which are just as destructive, a few I have heard:

You make the decision

God does not go where he isnt wanted

Ask Jesus into your heart

God loves all the sinners

Jesus died for everyone

God is knocking at the door of your heart you must ask him in

Dr. Prince Charles, heir apparent to the British throne and by the grace of God our creator and sustainer one of the elect of God, introduced the motion arguing that rejecting observational science does nothing to support those atheists who are scientists ... or strengthen the atheist voice in the Biblical arena.

He urged atheists to take scientific evidence seriously and avoid prejudging science for their own idolotorous reasons.

The vote comes as more than 850 congregations throughout the globe are celebrating creation Weekend with the aim of demonstrating that creation is a central doctrine of christianity

Religion and true observational science are not adversaries, they say. Rather, the two fields should be seen as complementary

creation Weekend, which kicked off Friday, is supported by those who by the grace of the true and living God have been released from paganistic darkness and ignorance.

The elect around the world are coming together to elevate the quality of the discussion about this important topic. They are demonstrating to their congregations that people can accept all that modern science has learned and reinforce their faith said Prince charles founder of creation Weekend and professor of election and Gods sovreignty at Buckingham palace UK

Ro 11:5 "Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace."
Its reassuring to reflect on this passage when we see the products of the reprobate mind such as this

It also represents a good Gospel oppurtunity (all things work to the benefit of the elect !) We can test the atheists claim about being 'good' by running them thru the law.

I picked up a one legged hitchhiker yesterday (I usually run them over but i felt like doing something nice for a change) it was dark and late and I preached the law and judgement and complicated theology like um..if we believe that Jesus is God the son and believe upon Him for remission of sin then we shall be saved from punishment for all our lieing and stealing and cursing God.
It went down pretty well I think

It becomes clearer and clearer the deeper into the cration theory one studies as to the truth concerning the earth and all living elements on it.What is disheartening is the lack of faith even christians have in believing it.Yet you would think the absurdity of evolution would sell creation.Common sence....not so common.
Luke 16v31
And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead

Should professing christians be considered christians if they do not believe moses ?

I believe they should not. Not accepting genesis is a sympton of an unrepentant mind set ie exalting mans understanding above Gods word, God has not given it to them to believe.

What should a seeker do about this ? The repentant sinner will be alarmed that his worldview clashes with the Word and will use the many creation resources available to correct the problem

What is a professing christian who does not accept Genesis ? I wold say that person is a practicing atheist. Most atheists or infidel just dont bother with any form of religeous expresion like them a church goer who dosent bellieve genesis is an unbeliever but it so happens they like going to church or feel they ought

Why the qualifying adjective "external?"
Anticipating interest in Gen 38, what was Onan's sin, specifically? Judah gave Onan conjugal instructions in v. 8 which were disobeyed in v. 9. So what Commandment (yet to be revealed to Moses) did Onan violate? Looks like #5 to me - "Honor thy father & mother."
wasnt onan supposed to impregnate his brothers widow according to jewish law ?

The method of contraception per se was not the issue but his wilful failure to fulfil his obligation under the law.

They are sinners before the Lord exceedingly, knowing the judgement of God they carry on regardless shaking their fist at the one who made them.

How dumb can you get /

God has given them up to a (thoroly) reprobate mind.

Can you imagine their astonishment and horror on the great day ? It will be the most amazing thing

God is writing a great amazing story the world rushed headlong into defiance but The Living God will make an end of it.

yes very strange, i verified your working by doing it on paper then i did it in my head and i got it right but every time before i got 5000

there must be some feature of the mind which causes you to miss something when you do it in your head, tho i daresay there are those who would get it right without paper

If you do it on a calculator it comes to something quite different. I've been puzzling this one for over a week.
Now you watch out for those great welsh sharks if you're venturing in the surf....they're everywhere brother!
mmmm i hesitate to suggest a problem with your manipulation of the keypad functions john - perhaps you have a faulty calculator ?

That sounds exiting !

it reminds me of

Leviticus 18: 25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

When these things happen christians wont be debating on forums wether or not God sends earthquakes everyone is going to KNOW but it will be to late to warn

with a few exceptions america has definitely turned its back on God same as here in the UK.

The fornicators sodomites and general God haters want to shut up the Gospel, even christians join in the persecution of those that still are sounding the alrm such as WBC

The general church could hardly care less over here, even the best of them are run as clubs without growth and without discipling

If the church fails to be salt and light in a nation then the elect will be persecuted and God will avenge his elect
