Today downloads are taking an extremely long time (about and hour versus 1-2 minutes).
Are you having technical problems?
We are currently not experiencing any technical problems but the download activity is certainly higher than normal. But even with the increased activity, the download speed should still be very fast for the most part. Some sermons will experience slower speeds than others. If you're running into an excessive problem, please send us an email and let me know which sermon (exactly) is going too slow and I'll try moving it to a different server. Thank you.

David.. No, there is no long-term commitment. You may cancel at any time. And you must keep your account on SermonAudio in order for your sermons to remain on the site. Let me know if you have any other questions at [email protected]

I am an elder in and maintain the website for the First Baptist Church of Richland Hills, Texas. We have used SermonAudio for a few years, and link our church website to SermonAudio so that the user can hear our pastors sermons. This required the user to click "Play," and the sermon would start.
Actually, you can click on the "Later" button on that page to skip having to supply any information. The only information we ask for is an email address and a ZIP code (if applicable) to help us track the sermon downloads more accurately. But again, clicking the "Later" button can skip this step altogether.

Also, we are currently in the process of providing ]]even more tools and web services for webmasters to put sermons found on SermonAudio on their own site that ]]link directly to the audio without the need of any intermediate "play" page. This will all be happening very shortly.

Thank you for your suggestions and patience.

Thanks Sermonaudio. I've downloaded them again and all is working fine with the exception of SID=819071545542.
I may have missed that one in my list.
It's been done as well. Thank you.

The following sermons by E.D. Manard do are not recognized by Media Player 10 or 11. Both the stream and download versions
We have confirmed this and have re-encoded these MP3s so that they should now be OK. We have also sent a notification email to the broadcaster letting them know of this issue with the encoding. Thank you.

I have had problems with the audio quality of some sermons.
The quality varies from broadcaster to broadcaster. Much of it depends on their recording equipment and their encoding settings. Look for the "Quality Recording" symbol on the sermon play page for good-quality recordings.

Eoghan wrote:
I would also like more info on mp3 players - particularly those with an auto-resume function - which allows you to pick up 45 mins into an hour long sermon.
Another feature that I look for is sequencing - nothing worse than listening to a series of 12 sermons in the wrong order.
Many if not most decent MP3 players should be able to auto-resume from the point you were last playing. I know this is true of players from Creative, Apple (iPod), Microsoft (Zune), and many others. As for the auto-sequencing, this is simply a matter of ensuring that the downloaded MP3s are named in numerical order. If you download the sermons with the Transfer Agent, the filenames should be automatically named for you. Otherwise you will need to name them yourself.

We would appreciate all participants to simply stay within the guidelines of the posting policies of this site. It's simple. Why is it so hard to follow?

Grace Church, Downingtown, PA wrote:
Dear SermonAudio.com,
What is the recommended sampling rate for 32Kbps MP3 files?
Thanks,
GraceChurch.SermonAudio.com
Much of it depends on your recording equipment. But a general rule of thumb for 32kbps bitrate is to use 22khz sampling rate. (For 16kbps bitrate, the general rule is to use 11khz sampling rate).

Hope that helps!

How do I make Itunes or Windows Media Player my default player ? I had the same problem as you , and it was the worst sound in the world coming out of my perfectly good speakers.
For Windows XP and Windows Media Player, go to "Tools/Options" and under the "File Types" tab, select ALL. That should do it.

Well, it seems that what started out as a simple need to explain the reason for the site being down for a period of time has degenerated and digressed in a direction that was not intended. All I can say is that we're doing our best and we hope we'll be able to continue to be of service to both churches and listeners alike for years to come. Thank you.

Scott, we have tested this extensively ourselves because we too had similar questions. But we have found that the quality after the conversion is very good and is really not an issue. Convenience is where this type of feature really shines.

But if the broadcaster is concerned about quality, they will always have the option to encode directly to the required bitrate themselves before uploading and we will not re-encode it in that case. Thank you.

What computer/operating system are you using? And what browser are you using? That will be a good place to start..

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? We have actually been working this week to make the site compatible with the Safari browser which is the native browser for the Mac.

Thank you Patrick for your encouraging post. I appreciate it. We are thankful for the increase in traffic as well. Our prayer from the start has been to provide a platform whereby churches can reach the masses inexpensively. We are making progress by God's grace.

In regards to your comment about the sermon for "searchers" -- we've actually tried to address that somewhat with our "Start Here" list of sermon links on the top-front page of the site. Many of those sermons are suitable for visitors who are searching for truth and answers. However, we will continue to explore ways to address this issue.

Randy, we are not aware of any issues with our media servers at this time. I double-checked everything and it seems to be OK. A possible explanation might be if you have any kind of internet security or filtering type of program running on your PC that might be interfering with the streaming?
