Really writes,

I'm prepared to demonstrate to anyone with half a brain that Calvin meant one man to one church, not many men to one church.

RK responds,

Those with half a brain are a good audience for you,

Really writes,

Since you struggle to understand English, I am not going to bother addressing you any more. But I will continue to post for the sake of those who are interested.

RK responds,

Since you struggle to understand, yet continue to write, I will continue to respond whenever I read your errors for the sake of those who are interested in truth.

Presbyterians of course have their Pope in Calvin!,

RK responds,

Interesting comment coming from someone who quotes him or misquotes him I should say when it pleases you.

Really writes:

but they went to and fro to found new churches; but pastors were set and appointed, EVERY MAN TO HIS OWN CHURCH, and were, as it were, placed to watch (“ad praesidium,” as a guard) over their congregations.”

RK responds,

Still twisting huh Really; this does not establish a single elder congregation. Note the words PASTORS were set and appointed. Else, how could Paul's exhortation make sense.

1 Corinthians 14:29 KJV
[29] Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.

But, go ahead and keep your mini-pope, as they develop the spirit of Diotrephes. I've seen what it can do to a congregation. It reminds me of some of the Baptists on this forum.

3 John 1:9-10 KJV
[9] I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. [10] Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

The Supreme Court's ruling from silence speaks volumes and will set a precedent for future decisions for years to come (IF
we have that long).

Lurker writes,

Calvinism, specifically TULIP, is a system of theology. It can't be preached to the lost for they wouldn't understand it nor would it convince them of sin and their need of a Savior.

RK responds,

The old Puritan Joseph Irons would not agree. He said there is nothing more frightening in the heart of the sinner than the law of God's right to election. It is Arminianism that sets a God under the control of the sinner, and leads him to hell on a bed of false notions about God. But when he hears that God has the right, that God is in control , then he knows that NOW is the accepted time, TODAY is the day of salvation!

Baptist,

The issue is not tithing; the issue of the discussion is whether or not Baptists make deductions from scripture to establish their doctrine. Tithing is generally accepted and taught among them, and I was using it as an example that to do so, one must make the deduction.

". . . The Baptist confession comes along and slams the door shut by saying that we cannot frame a doctrine from a consequence of what we deduce from scripture, instead we must base our doctrine only on what is contained in scripture. "

Michael,
Have you taken a good look at most "baptist" congregations? There is scarcely any discrepancy between them and the Pentecostals. Old timey Baptists as you call them would not recognize most congregations. If they didn't have the sign out front, they'd be waiting for Kenneth "Popeland" to come on stage to bring down "fire from heaven". If Baptists pride themselves of getting ALL their doctrines only from scripture without deduction, where is all this coming from?

That must be why each autonomous congregation elects only one "pastor" per congregation like a mini-pope. When the Apostle Paul commanded otherwise:

Titus 1:5 KJV
[5] For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

Of course to come to the conclusion that only than one "elder" is needed to set things in order, they would have to make a FALLACIOUS DEDUCTION.

Baptist,

Have you looked at those verses you select; none are commands for Christians to pay tithes, UNLESS you make a DEDUCTION. Are you aware of what the discussion is here?

Oh really writes,

The Presbyterians arrive at their understanding of covenant families based upon their deductions of what they believe to be good and necessary consequences of the Bible teaching regarding covenant. However, the Baptist confession comes along and slams the door shut by saying that we cannot frame a doctrine from a consequence of what we deduce from scripture, instead we must base our doctrine only on what is contained in scripture.

This is a good example of where the Presbyterians elevate reason and logic above the Scriptures and treat their necessary consequences and deductions on the same level as Scripture!

RK responds,

So Baptists make no logical deductions from scripture. I guess that's why Las Vegas makes a killing off of Baptists, because no where in the NT do we see the words " thou shalt not gamble. ." . (forget about the OT they don't believe that's for them now) . Also, why do they preach about tithing when there is nothing in the NT about tithing. See how far you get with that one among Baptist cleric. Shall I go on?

I suppose you must remember Michael Baptists weren't invented till 1521.
You know, John, when the someone willing places in their post an outright lie, it is hard to believe anything else they put forth. You would think Presbies would be sensitive to the 9th commandment

RK responds,

I suppose that to assume a pretentious alias does not fall within the category of a lie. Also, would multiplying monikers to deceive and trap fall within the definition of a lie?

John UK writes,

But I can't figure why the Presbies on this forum (with some good exceptions) are so very militant, dogmatic, and regard only the WCF adherents as Christian. Phew! No wonder Presbyterianism is going down the tubes. The expression is, "Shot themselves in the foot".

RK responds,

I'm glad you kind, humble, and un-dogmatic Anabaptists have it all figured out. Must be a comfortable feeling huh?

Lurker,

I would thank you for giving me the liberty to express and define my authority and epistemology for myself. The Bible alone is the Word of God.

" but I don’t see how a ceremony like this merits endorsement by the university.” ...

That's the point, it will never makes sense, so don't expect it to. There is a hidden Satanic agenda here that supersedes logic and as it progresses the irrationalism will continue to expand to newer levels of insanity.

UPS,

I hear what you are saying, but I think our disagreement may rest on how each of us understands the meaning of "doeth righteousness", surely you can not mean good works to merit the favor of God?

Lurker,

Atheists from the Skeptics Annotated Bible Forum are masters of formal logic so according to your thesis they should be the best Christians of all.

RK responds,

Apparently you had a preconceived answer you expected, and obviously I have failed your test. I also suspect we could not come to agreement on anything because we have different axioms of authority and epistemology.
