Exercise, Jessica, it helps with a multitude of problems including a diet that consists mainly of fast foods -- though of course talk to your doctor about it.
Jim, you are truly a 'Job's friend' to me... Your thoughtless comment giving me advice brought me much hurt and anguish. I was too devastated to even respond until now.

I am so crippled that I am a shut-in most of the time, not able to dress myself, wash my own hair, and am not able to exercise as I have severely twisted and disfigured arms, legs, hands, feet, fingers, and toes... I can hardly feed myself, and am in so much pain that it feels like I am being tortured, and you have the audacity to tell me to exercise, and not only that you recommend a diet of fast-food to an already unhealthy person who is so poor they cannot even afford to eat at restaurants!

"He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him."

Proverbs 18:13King James Version (KJV)

No it is not about me. It is about stating the truth that false doctrines don't make one susceptible to the false doctrine of Cayce and New Age philosophy not if it is ingrained in them not to get involved in the occult and New Age philosophy.
God bless you John! The thing is, John, is that using just yourself as an example is a logical fallacy known as a 'hasty generalization.' This means that your sample size (yourself) is too small to make a logical and accurate conclusion since your attributes may be atypical (not of the norm). My mother is from a family of more than ten children who were brought up strict Roman Catholic, yet many of my aunts and uncles on that side of the family are New Age/ Liberalism in their beliefs and not one attends the Catholic Church as they did in their youth.

Unprofitable Servant, thank you, I had hoped for more testimony from Frank as he is the only second person I have interacted with in my life who has embraced the Lord Jesus after following Edgar Cayce and other New Age gurus. Please say a prayer for my parents, that God would help them embrace and find Comfort and Salvation in the Truth...

Thanks sister Jessica for your kind and thoughtful words and gracious admonition.
Hope you are doing better, still praying for you. Thanks for taking time to post.
Don't worry about Jim, he gets mixed up sometimes, he means that the NYT, AARP, LA Times, PBS, Bill Moyer,MSNBC, etc. are unreliable sources, he can't even show you that what was reported by the JBS is not true and accurate.
Thank you,

I wasn't thinking too much about Jim in my post but about the angle of the article. I looked at other sites concerning the eating disorder to see whether or not I viewed it as valid. I think in some cases it is valid, as when a person starts becoming neurotic, isolating themselves, or becomes underweight. In other situations, eating healthy may not be strong culturally in their geographic areas and people who just want to eat healthy may seem extreme to people who live off of Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonald's.

My husband and I have agreed that we would primarily eat organic foods if we were in a higher tax bracket. Since my husband is my primary caregiver and we have a limited income we have to eat within our budget to make sure we have enough food all month.

God bless!

It is quite common in our society to throw mental illness slurs such as: nuts, crazy, mental, and insane towards people who hold different ideologies. However, this (in my view) just adds to the stigma of having a mental illness and does not add to Paul's letter to Titus when he says: "to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men."

The Church has a long way to go in accepting persons with mental illness, in showing loving-kindness towards sinners, and in praying for and extending forgiveness to their enemies and even to other believers.

Those who would desire the office of a bishop "must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil" (1 Timothy 3:7).

"God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world..."

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved" (John 3 16, 17).

"But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” (Matthew 9:13).

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

If a person is: '[a]voiding eating food bought or prepared by others,' '[d]istancing from friends or family members who do not share similar views about food,' and has had a '[d]rastic reduction in opinions of acceptable food choices, such that the sufferer may eventually consume fewer than 10 foods," then there is a problem (Tiberline Knolls). "In her quest for food purity, the 5'4" Bailey consumed so few calories she dropped to 92 pounds" (CNN).

If people are so worried about food purity that they become dangerously unhealthy then I do believe that intervention and treatment may be needed. On-the-other-hand, if persons suffering from stress over food purity lived in my area, they would probably find that they could acquire all the organic food they needed and like-minded persons and groups to support them.

Eating organic is so popular where I live that all the major grocery chains sell organic produce, and have organic food aisles that include cereals, pastas, dairy, eggs and canned goods. We have many local organic farms and vineyards, coffee shops that have organic fair trade coffee and organic and gluten free breads and goodies. There are monthly raw vegan community potlucks, and we have retailers and farms that sell organic meats.

Whatever you eat, give thanks!

In the valley I live in, flower shops and other stores/organisations who welcome Gay patrons put a small rainbow flag sticker on the door of their business. I think this is better than this-person-or-that-person feeling rejected and then possibly leading to expensive lawsuits for both parties.

Luther believed the Catholic Church has always worshiped the biblical and historical Jesus. I was taught from an early age to worship the biblical and historical Jesus and not the Virgin Mary. I was not taught about any false jesus. I have never stated that reciting the confession of faith of the Apostles and Nicene Creeds makes one saved. The only way to become saved is to trust in Jesus alone for salvation.
John, if you are not a typical Catholic and believe only in the Scriptural parts of the Mass, you must understand that you are not like mainstream Catholics? Therefore, if believers on SermonAudio are referring to their former upbringing in the Catholic Church and sharing testimony how the false doctrine of the RCC made them susceptible to the false doctrine of Edgar Cayce - why do you need to jump in and make the testimony shared about yourself?

Frank was sharing some helpful testimony with me about his experience, then you have to jump in and make the whole matter about you, just because RCC was mentioned. My parents are trapped in bondage with the likes of Edgar Cayce and other New Age gurus even though my mother was brought up strict in the RCC and my dad Irish Protestant.

This is a most wonderful and delightful truth of scripture, for which every Christian can give thanks to God, humbly acknowledging that Jesus Christ is the author and finisher (completer) of their faith, that salvation is of the Lord not themselves, that come hell or high water, the blessed Lord God Jehovah is their rock, comforter, and sustainer, that though the enemy sometimes comes in like a flood, the Lord raises a banner against them, that though they sometimes go astray, the Lord says, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee."
He is worthy therefore of our utmost love, worship and service, living never for ourselves but for him who died for us and rose again, and is coming again in the clouds with the sound of a great shout and trumpet blast, gathering together his elect from the four corners of the world. Praise God!
Amen, glory to God in the Highest!

"...make your calling and election sure..."

Peter gives instruction in 2 Peter 1:5-7 how to grow in faith in Christ Jesus:

"Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge; and in your knowledge self-control; and in your self-control patience; and in your patience godliness; and in your godliness brotherly kindness; and in your brotherly kindness love."

Peter goes on to say in verse 8:

"For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Moreover, in verse 10 Peter alludes to the elect having cause to stumble if they do not abide by the aforementioned of adding all manner of virtue to our faith in Christ Jesus:

"Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble:"

I was brought up New Age and still am experiencing the damage of being exposed to so many contrary ideologies. My parents believed in a dash of Jesus along with many other things: crystals, stones, dreams, seeking to see ghosts, past lives, Buddhism, karma, numerology, auras, 'your destiny is in your name,' spiritual attribution to colour, and on and on... My parents follow Edgar Casey, Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle, and others.

I have witnessed first hand how my parent's beliefs toward Jesus changed after they had read Edgar Casey's book on "Jesus." All of a sudden my parents took the word of Edgar Casey over The Word Of God about Jesus! It has also torn my parents and I apart...

I do believe that "Christian" book-stores carrying books with lying heresies have the potential to harm people who are not yet established in Word and in Truth.

I have no problems thus far cashing checks or writing checks and having them accepted for perhaps a charitable purpose. My bank made it no longer mandatory to sign checks that are deposited into the bank machine also. My husband and I pay our rent with post-dated checks and it makes things much easier. I do not know what tomorrow will bring. All I know is: “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”

In my youth I made my self sick over worrying about a cashless society, when I could have been happy and trusting in Jesus. I was young and didn't have faith that He would never leave me, nor forsake me.

I agree ladybug, amen! I think of those in the entertainment industry who were brought up in the Christian faith such as Miley Cyrus, Jessica Simpson, and Brad Pitt. And, I believe aspects of their rebellion/rejection against faith in Christ Jesus may be a part of the draw to their fame/popularity.

Nevertheless, I ponder the Prodigal Son and how his father waited everyday for him to come home: ]]Luke 15:11-32 ASV

In the last 25 years I have been to two that I would consider actual Christian book-stores, as their owners used the stores to minister Christ in their communities. One store even had a room with a second-hand book exchange, and ministered to every socio-economic level.

As things stand, here are three Scriptures which cause me to tremble about the concept of Christian book-stores:

"Buy the truth, and sell it not; Yea, wisdom, and instruction, and understanding."

~ Proverbs 23:23 ASV

"And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of he money-changers, and the seats of them that sold the doves; and he saith unto them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer: but ye make it a den of robbers."

~ Matthew 21:12-13 ASV

"Now when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay my hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit. But Peter said unto him, Thy silver perish with thee, because thou hast thought to obtain the gift of God with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right before God."

~ Acts 8:18-21 ASV

This beautiful young mother has a child with cerebral palsy, who I hope and pray will benefit with the equipment and care they need. May Marie Holmes be given wisdom how to also help other families with children with disabilities but cannot afford the care and equipment they need. God bless and peace to you all!

"Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"

~ Matthew 7:1-3

"Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."

~ John 7:24

"And if any man hear my sayings, and keep them not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world."

~ John 12:47

"Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God."

~ 1 Corinthians 4:5

"Who art thou that judgest the servant of another? to his own lord he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be made to stand; for the Lord hath power to make him stand."

~ Romans 14:4

The Christ, Jesus, did not permit His disciples to act in violence. Many Scriptures confirm this. All the violence done is Jesus' Name does not reflect His teachings and do not represent Him. The ones who did violence in His Name are wolves in sheep's clothing not worthy to be considered followers of His teachings.

]]John 18:10-12

"Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."

~ Matthew 10:16 ASV

"...that ye may become blameless and harmless..."

"Do all things without murmurings and questionings: that ye may become blameless and harmless, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom ye are seen as lights in the world, holding forth the word of life; that I may have whereof to glory in the day of Christ, that I did not run in vain neither labor in vain."

~ Philippians 2:14-16 ASV
