Like the move to online schooling, or homeschooling, some people might see an improvement and then, when the crisis is over, they will wonder...now why were we doing the other way?
It is interesting that USA Today is running this story, since few of its readers will be found in a church pew on Sunday morning.
Newspapers used to publish an entire 'religion' page with listings of churches and their services in the area (maybe they did have to pay $$ for the space), but that was a long time ago (well, check your newspaper this weekend to see what it has).

This is the big question, whether you interpret the verse from Hebrews about not giving up the custom of meeting together as meaning less often than weekly, and then compare it to the verse of setting aside an offering at the beginning of the week...does that mean someone was standing there in a business suit passing an offering plate?

I guess homeschooling is not going to work for them!
And I wonder if they can get a refund of their tuition and room/board fees.

I have learned a lot about this from the ACT group run by a Lebanese woman whose family was murdered by Islam, Pastor Michael Youssef from the Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, Georgia (USA, that is), and a book, 'Sword of the Prophet" Serge Trifkovic.
I think most Americans have a long way to go in understanding Islam. Most basic difference from Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, is that it is a complete system, involving daily life (pray 5 times a day), politics (no Democracies or elections in Muslim states like Saudi Arabia, which is their goal), no music (all considered profane by Islam), among other things.

I wonder if they could do this in a place like Nashville, Atlanta, Savannah, or Orlando.

Another China-related news item that has 'flown under the radar' has been the anniversary of 1959's Tibet uprising. Only Tibetans around the world marked the event yesterday, according to the news report from Japan's NHK network.

I wonder how all this cleanliness will affect the 'regular' flu and all the deaths that it causes, as well as other communicable diseases.

Adding this story to the one from Barna's group showing church attendance has been going down, makes you wonder...how many people are we talking about here? Presbyterians in general are not the US's largest denomination--the Baptists have them beat hands down. Then, to reduce that P group down to just the most liberal ones, the ones in this news item, is to be talking about a very small number, maybe less than a couple thousand people total.
It could be that Seattle, one of the most liberal areas in the US, does have more liberal Presbyterians than places like Nashville, or Birmingham, and maybe even more of them than Baptists.

latest numbers are over 116,000 cases (that's if you believe what Communist China tells us), and 64,391 recovered, and 4,090 deaths, which makes it a 3.5 percent risk of death.
The common flu has a much higher death rate, but it doesn't make people wash their hands and avoid public contact.

What is also interesting about this news item is when you compare it to the health news item that says people who go to church regularly live longer! In that news item, correct doctrine did not matter, nor the color of the carpet or the pads on the pews, which frequently are 2 hot items for church splits.
A friend tells me that there is a Baptist church within walking distance of his humble abode, but he cannot attend it because their sound system is set at such a high volume that it gives him a headache, and he is afraid of hearing loss from attending there.
I think there is a statistic (maybe also from Barna's group) that says most churches in the US have less than 100 attending their services. Those megachurches you see on TV are not the norm at all, and make up less than 10 percent of people attending.
Now they might cause a "Wal-Mart" effect, where smaller churches close because so many of their members find services and programs more to their liking, like singles groups, widows groups, etc. I guess people today look at church as a place to get something first.

Barna might be spot on with this research; it would be hard to even poll the people who post here to ask if they have noticed a drop in attendance at their weekly church services.
And with the many churches posting sermons here, you have a very large database to work with, to ask them if they have noticed a drop in attendance at their weekly services.
Possible reasons:

1. education system is secular, constantly driving issues like abortion and sodomy. they have done their best to present their 'options' as pleasant and nice, like the recent Democrat Party presidential candidate from South Bend, Indiana, who many people did not realize was a sodomite. The mere mention of that put an end to his campaign when it got to big, less liberal states than Iowa or New Hampshire.

2. one secular issue that has penetrated the church has been feminism. no preacher is willing to face rejection by saying that the Bible teaches clearly that the role of the woman is in the home, (see 1 Timothy 5 for the later stage of this life direction).
instead, preachers will jump up with that verse about 'in Christ there is no East or West, no male or female' (well, if that were the case, women could be preachers, elders, and run the whole church, right?)

Next step is for someone to set up a mutual fund that will duplicate the LDS holdings, and call it something appropriate.

I have heard of many Christians wanting to follow a 'Christian' plan for investing, and Catholics even have the "Thomas Fund" as one of their choices, Muslims have another one.
Even pagans who care more about ecology, human rights, have "ESG" funds.

Another step to apply to this LDS holding is to ask how much they have lost due to this coronavirus scare.
It is interesting to note that more people have died in the US from flu and flu-related complications, but it is not reported as much.

Snow shoveling also has been linked to an increase in deaths, but city ordinances require residents keep their sidewalks cleared within a few hours after a storm. No sleeping in, nor taking a little vacation trip to San Juan while the snow flies (unless you pay someone to clear it while you're gone).
If the snow is not cleared, it can melt in the warm sun of mid-day and then freeze overnight to make hard ice that will lead to many people falling, and falls are a leading cause of death among the elderly.
All this and the corona virus talk make me think of that Bible verse, 'man is born to trouble like sparks fly up from the forge'
Job 5:7

1. Barna is not a pro-church group, having published a book, "Revolution" about how the old-fashioned way of church is outmoded.
2. I guess insurance agents will have to stick to country clubs to drum up their prospects.
3. A similar decrease in sales of men's business suits, ties, white shirts, might be related to this decline in church attendance. For many men, 'church' means dressing up. A friend tells me of a couple guys in his church who work weekdsys getting their hands and clothes very dirty as mechanics or printers, but on Sundays, they look like the lawyer or insurance agent standing next to them handing out church bulletins, or serving the "Lord's Supper"
I guess some people live for that Dress Up Role.

Speaking of the map of the earth, it is interesting to read about Columbus and his thoughts he had reached India. The closest he got was to the east coast of Central America; if he had just crossed over the land, he could have seen the Pacific Ocean!
Yet he remained convinced until his death that he had found a route to the East.
He did explore a lot of the southern coast of Cuba.

How about the large population of Muslims in Britain? I think their 'traditional marriage' would be 3 or 4 wives for one man.

Productivity--depends on how you measure it. If you are painting or sculpting something, it's not easy to reach for the smartphone to find a quicker easier way to get it done.
Meditation--yes, there might be some apps that bring up Bible verses and play music in the background for you to 'get in the mood' or calm you down, but a plain hard-copy of the good old Message Bible would be preferred by most posters here at SA, I am sure.

Well, that murder rate makes it much safer than Baltimore!
I wonder if this story is running after Mike "Stop and Frisk" Bloomberg, done with spending millions of his own money on incessant ads, is looking for a VP position (maybe you could call it a Junior President and he would fit the bill!).
Of course, in all these crime stories, what is usually hidden or omitted is the race of the people committing the crimes. When it is shown, young blacks (the ones Bloomie targeted and thus reduced the NYC crime rate when he was mayor)lead the pack. Anyone can visit Paul Kersey's blog at vdare.com and find story about story about cities where blacks are a small percentage of the overall population, but make up the large majority of murder suspects.
