Micheal, I probably am more in line with your thinking than most here, I believe and trust in God's word, and what it teaches. The bible states that hell is for Satan and his angels, that is why it exists. So that would contradict any teaching of God sending a lost sinner there. God will cast all into hell that reject the gospel, but the blame for eternal damnation lies on the Christ-rejecting sinner. I prefer not to get labeled as a calvinist or an arminian, instead, I will stick with the teachings of scripture giving all credit to the orginal Author. I don't wish to open a can of worms, for there are people who are lost, dying, and going to hell; so time is better spent on proclaiming the gospel than arguing. God bless you Micheal.
BTW, have you had an opportunity to listen to Paul Washer's 'ten indictments'? I hope you get a chance to, it is truly inspired by God.

The 'whosoever will' in the original language is 'as many as'. Obviously, most will, instead of coming to Christ, stay in their sins because they loved darkness more than light.
The continual argument seems to be that this is a teaching from Calvin, when in fact, the bible clearly states that whom He foreknew, He predestined. Does God cast anyone into hell? No! He leaves sinners who reject the gospel in their sin, which results in their casting themselves into hell.

John Y. -there is a sermon on this site from Paul Washer entitled 'the ten indictments', I strongly encourage you to listen to it. It is roughly 2 hours long, but it is one of the best I have ever heard. This is a true man of God preaching under the power of the Holy Spirit, which is a rarity in America. This is what a sermon should sound like, not performing a ritual and going through the outward motions of man centered worship, but preaching God's truth through the power of the Spirit.

John Y- if you were saved, you would come out of the great whore. Christ said 'we could tell them by their fruit'. You bear no fruit in keeping with repentance, you cling to heretical doctrine out of one side of your mouth, and out of the other you claim Christ. You simply cannot follow false doctrine and belong to Christ at the same time, unless the Christ you profess is not the Christ of the Bible. BTW, I NEVER said no RC's are saved, if they are, they leave the RCC immediately. You can't just 'make a decision' for Christ, that is easy believism and it isn't scriptural. "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him" John 6:44. God must do a work in the sinful heart and humble the arrogant sinner before Christ can be received. It is all about a changed heart John Y., if your heart, mind and soul hunger for Christ and God's word continually, then you are close to the kingdom.

BTW- Happy Reformation Day! Why the Reformation?
"What is the popish religion, but a bundle of ridiculous ceremonies. Their candles, beads, crucifixes, what are these but Satan's policy, to dress up a carnal worship, fitted to carnal minds! Oh what cause have we to bless God for delivering us from popery!" Thomas Watson
"Rome never changes and refuses to admit she has made mistakes. She burned our English Reformers 300 years ago. She tried hard to stamp out by violence the Protestantism which she could not prevent spreading by arguments. If Rome had only the power, I am not sure that she would not attempt to play the whole game over again". J.C. Ryle

Nathan, you have made some valid truth filled points. The candidates from both parties are lost sinners. But one claims 'conservative values', which means nothing. The one in office now claimed the same thing. It proves that just because someone talks a good talk doesn't mean their heart agrees. The religious right have tried to control a cursed and fallen world through a political party instead of doing what we are called to do...preach the gospel! Only the power of God's word will change a homosexual, a prostitute, a sexually immoral man or woman, a liar, a cheat, a murderer, etc. You can't put laws on the books and expect a wicked sinner to abide by them; by screaming and boycotting, all you are doing is driving away the lost sinner. They want no part of your 'religion'. Stick to the word of God, preach the gospel, proclaim the truth, and put your trust solely in Christ, not in a political party. No matter what happens, Gods' will WILL be done; isn't that what we are to pray for? "Even so, come Lord Jesus"

John Y. -could you be any more disrespectful? Calling Mrs. McCain, or any woman for that matter, an 'old lady' is utterly unacceptable. You have little regard for women, and apparently no clue how God loves ALL of mankind. You need to apologize for your crude remark.

John Y. -if all that a church does, all that it teaches, how it governs, disciplines, and works is not based SOLELY on scripture, nothing else added, then yes, Satan is its father. The RCC clearly puts its church doctrine above God's holy word, teaching heresies and filling its buildings with statues and candles, which have origins in mysticism as well as idolatry {read Deut. 14}. You are straddling the fence John Y., you claim Christ but you still defend and cling to one of the biggest enemies of our Lord, the RCC. Your heart has not been changed by God, you are not regenerated. May God work and move by His grace through His Spirit to truly save you and change you from the inside out, there is no other way to be saved except by the grace of God.
Lance, may God save you according to His way, by GRACE; not based on your man-made teachings, which save no one.

To 'psychologically test' a man is a joke. The RCC does not get it, it isn't the mind they need to concern themselves with, it is the HEART! What lies within EVERY human heart? Christ tells us in Matthew 15:19, "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man unclean". We can't go through routines, meaningless motions, rituals, man-made sacred traditions, they are all worthless DUNG. God makes it so simply clear in Proverbs 23:26, "My son, GIVE ME YOUR HEART". To love Christ alone is what is needed, not Christ + an idolatrous Mary created from church doctrine, Christ humiliated in some form of a wafer, Christ + chants, etc. This denomination has Satan as it's father, it is a cult with teachings that do not agree at all with God's Holy Word; it is their interpretation, they make it say what they want to fit their apostasy. ONLY GOD CAN CHANGE A HEART...period

Andy, you say, 'I steal, I lie, I lust, I cheat...' I sincerely hope you are talking about your former life; if indeed you have been saved by God and set free by Christ, you have power over sin through the indwelling Holy Spirit. Sexual immorality does have a deeper impact on society, because it affects and most often destroys the family. All sin is wrong, however, some forms are far more dangerous and deadly to self and to society.

Jeremiah 17:9 says,'the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately sick, who can understand it?' In the original language, 'desperately sick' means 'incurable'. We all have an incurable disease, SIN. Our hearts are sinful and wicked, and we are not able to fix them. Our very nature is sinful; it is humanly impossible for vile, wicked sinners to have a 'change of heart' apart from divine intervention.

GG, How could you possibly take this clear dishonesty of the RCC and twist it into some ridiculous prot jealousy? That is insane, and shows your own ignorance. The article says taxpayer's money will be used to pay for this birthday party, how is this glorifying God? Is this fair to the taxpayers? That is the real issue here, why would taxpayers be expected to foot the bill for the pope's brother? The entire world is in a tailspin, with more people out of work, and soaring food prices...and yet, taxpayers should pay for some extravagant birthday?!

bysne- you could not be more wrong. There is only one true saving faith, found in the scriptures alone, based upon Christ alone. Salvation is a gift of God, given by His grace {Eph. 2:8,9}. Until all understand His grace, His mercy, His righteousness, His holiness, it is impossible to see just how vile and wicked all of mankind are. Would you consider listening to a sermon found here by Paul Washer called 'the ten indictments'?
Salvation is not found in a denomination, and being religious will save no one. Clinging to any kind of church tradition is deceptive, works generated by man save no one.

We, as Christians, need to put our hope and trust in Christ alone. Political parties are corrupt, because man is corrupt. No mortal has the solution to the mess the world is in; we need to focus on Christ and quit trying to control worldly affairs through deceitful men who promise this and that, and never follow through. Here's a wonderful quote from John MacArthur, "It makes no difference if an unsaved person is for or against abortion, a political liberal or a conservative, a prostitute or a police officer, he will spend eternity apart from God unless he repents and believes the gospel. God has above all else called the church to bring sinful people to salvation through Jesus Christ."

CJW, I praise God for your awesome testimony, your entire post is filled with truth, and empowered by His Holy Spirit. May the Lord bless you, and all who truly belong to the Lamb. We must pray for each other, as perilous times lie ahead. May the One True God strengthen His children. Thank you again for speaking the truth.

from Suzy's post, 'which was set up two years ago with the support of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams, and the head of the Roman Catholic church in England and Wales, Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor'.
Does this really surprise anyone? It is the anti-Christ {"dear children, this is the last hour, and as you have heard that the anti-Christ is coming, even now many anti-Christs have come"- 1st John 2:18} promoting 'there's probably no god, so stop worrying and enjoy your life'. Like that slogan will cause anyone to fall prostrate and cry out for mercy and forgiveness.
"So then, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the WORD OF GOD"- Romans 10:17

Sorry Lance, Christ never suffered and died, and was resurrected so He could hand it all over to a mortal man. However, for you to admit otherwise would shatter the myth, and the fairy tale of the RCC would [and will] come tumbling down.
Christ is my Rock, He is the head of the church, He rules and reigns as head from heaven and in the hearts of all true born again believers. Peter was no different than any of the other apostles. If you read the bible, you might know this. Your popes have conned you and millions of others into exalting them and following their apostasy; you'll find out differently soon enough.

Lance, 'Thou art Peter [petros-a rock]and upon THIS ROCK {a reference to the greek meaning of Peter-petros- rock] I will build my church' If Christ had intended on building the church on Peter, He would have specifically said, 'upon YOU PETER'; why would Jesus tell Peter, 'thou art Peter', didn't Peter already know what his name was? Christ is the rock Lance, to deny this is to deny Christ and His finished work on the cross. Christ is building, one born again believer at a time, His church, His called out ones. The church is not a building, nor a denomination. "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth NOT in temples made with hands" Acts 17:24. You stumble over the stumbling block Lance, your refusal to believe in the God of the bible and His sacred word as the only and final authority will cost you through all of eternity. You will spend eternity in the lake of fire along with all your beloved popes, priests, bishops, and all who love the deceptive man made teachings of the RCC. You deny Christ and the glory due Him and give credit to popes and the unsacred tradition dreamt up by followers of Satan. Your heart is unregenerated, you are void of the Holy Spirit, you have no Godly wisdom, you are lost in sin.
