Mark, I have thought for a while that hell might be like a black hole – a star that’s totally dark but way beyond hot. Each soul could end up in the center of its own star (or lake of fire) according to Jude 12 & 13:“These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.” As for your comment about being separated from God if you’re in hell, here’s a thought. When I go to the zoo and go near the lions I’m always glad to be separated from them while so close. Psa 139:8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. |
