MY SAY: We shouldn't pay for Church's sins / Source: Lismore Echo News – Australia

THE figures released by the Royal Commission into Institutionalised Responses to Child Sexual Abuse are shocking, there's no other way to describe them.
Truly horrific.

While the likes of Cardinal George Pell hide in the warm embrace of the Church, victims continue to fight for recognition and recompense.

And for mine, the most bitter of all pills is that we, the taxpayer, will be the ones that pay for the compensation for victims.

In November last year the Federal Government announced its compensation scheme for victims, who will be able to access up to $150,000 each, although there is some discussion about that figure possibly rising to $200,000.
The Sydney Morning Herald, in March last year, estimated the Catholic Church's tax exemptions at somewhere in the order of $16 billion annually in Australia.

And now we're told the Federal Government will take the lead on stumping up nearly $800 million over a
a decade as compensation for the atrocities of the Church.

I'm sorry, but this is not okay. The Catholic Church should pay every cent of the compensation.

Why should we bear the costs of its sins?

French statesman Baron DePonnat stated, “Roman Catholicism was born in blood, has wallowed in blood, and has quenched its thirst in blood, and it is in letters of blood that its true history is written.” Indeed, the history of papal Rome has been one of brutal torture, slaughter, and mass murder.

In this day of false ecumenism w/ papal Rome . . a word in season from Matthew Poole re: Rev. 18:4

And heard another voice from heaven, saying: a command from God.
Come out of her, my people: they are the words of God by his prophet, Jeremiah 50:8 51:6, calling to his people, that the years of their captivity being now expired, and they having a liberty to go back to Jerusalem, they would not linger longer in Babylon, nor partake of her sins; for God was about to destroy that place; and if they were found in it, they would be in danger of being destroyed with it, especially if they were found partakers of its sins. But they are also a general warning to all to take heed of any fellowship with idolaters; and so the apostle applieth part of these words, 2 Corinthians 6:17. Here they are applied to mystical Babylon, which is Rome antichristian. God calls to all that either love him, or their own souls, to forsake the commmion of it; for while they continue in it, they must partake of its sins, worshipping the beast, by paying, at his command, a Divine homage to saints and angels, to the virgin Mary, to images and statues, nay, to a piece of baker’s bread; and doing so, they will be involved in her plagues. This text looks terribly upon those who apostatize to that idolatry;

Frank, I'm not a nitpicker. I simply wanted to set the record state. I wanted to make the position I hold abundantly clear.

I stand with the Reformers / the Protestants in holding to the Historicist view of end times prophecy,

while you sadly, hold to the Futurist view, which originates with the RC "church", most notably the Jesuits.

Shaun Willcock, Gospel Minister & faithful Servant of the Lord of Bible-Based Ministries, has written an article I would commend for your reading in this context entitled:

Trappings of Popery (Part Nine): Praeterism and Futurism

Quoting now from his article:
"The Futurist system.  According to the advocates of this system, the prophecies of Revelation, etc., are still to be fulfilled at some unknown point in the future, and all within the space of a very short time, consisting of just a few years.
The most popularised, and probably the most popular, system of prophetic interpretation today is the Futurist system.  But this was not always so.  For centuries, the vast majority of Protestants were committed to the Historicist system.
So what happened to bring about this huge shift?  In a word: Jesuitism!"

John Yurich . . in his own words . .
at this forum: 10-26-2016:

"Whatever church one is on the membership roll of and attends is the religion they are. And thus I will never be a Protestant because I will never be put on the membership roll of that Evangelical Protestant Church. I will only be Catholic since I will remain on the membership roll of a Catholic Church. In fact I will only attend an Evangelical Protestant Church as long as I am residing in my current town. But when I move to Eastern Colorado and get a farm and find a Catholic woman to marry I will cease attending an Evangelical Protestant Church and just attend the Catholic Church and raise the children Catholic. But when they get to the age of reason then they will be shown a 4 VHS video set of Billy Graham Crusades so they learn the Evangelical Protestant doctrine of salvation."

No I did not say that. The Futurist view originates with the RC "church" / Jesuits.
The Historicist view was held by the Reformers /Protestants.
Quoting now from Shaun Willcock of Bible-Based Ministries
There are, essentially, three main systems of biblical prophetic interpretation: 1. The Historicist system. This system of prophetical interpretation holds the prophecies of Daniel, Revelation, and elsewhere, to be “history divinely written beforehand”. In other words, history fulfils Bible prophecy. History is but the outworking, in time, of divine prophecy.
At the time of the Protestant Reformation in the sixteenth century, it was the firm conviction of Protestants, steeped as they were in the biblically-sound Historicist system of prophetic interpretation, that the Roman Papacy was the prophesied Antichrist of God’s Word.  And Protestants everywhere were firmly convinced of it.  The works and the doctrines of Rome left them in no doubt.  The evidence fitted the scriptural picture perfectly.  And this firmly-held, scriptural conviction greatly nerved Protestants to resist the evils of Romanism,

I remember being reprimanded by a 'sister' in Christ for exposing homosexuality on my blog. It seemed to annoy her that I spoke out continually on this sin. That baffled me as well....
sister ladybug,

That has been my experience as well.

As is the case in Roman Catholicism, many so-called "Protestant denominations" have "ordained" openly "gay" . . sodomites to the ministry.

That goes a long way in explaining why they would not dare raise a voice of denunciation against papal Rome for so doing, despite the fact that
according to their own experts . .
in the solemn matter of RC clergy abuse,

"80% of the abuse was of a homosexual nature."

Like the RC "church" they are doctrinally unsound and morally bankrupt.
The fact that God calls this sin an "abomination" is of no interest to them because they have no respect unto His Word, and flagrantly oppose it.

They are but few Elijah's in our day who are willing to stand for the TRUTH.

"Rev. 18:4: “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues."

These papal sympathizers pour contempt on the Reformers.

Popery is the height of blasphemy and a stench in the nostrils of God.

As sister MS stated, if you grow tired of hearing about the evils of the RCC and the push for ecumenism, don't read my comments. Trying to silence those who do speak out won't work.
Exposing error with truth may very well 'divide'- so be it. I'd rather stand against dead religions than rant about vaccines and agenda 21's or defend false teachers like the Grahams.
Amen sister ladybug. I've been on the receiving end of his accusations as well!

No doubt John UK thinks John Dowling was not doing the Lord's Work or serving him,
but “inventing a way to serve him”

when he produced this meticulously researched and labor intensive work:

'History of Romanism'

that exposes the evils of POPERY

for which he received the commendations of his ministerial colleagues,
and more importantly, the commendation of God for his laborious work.

God is always glorified when the truth is set over and against that which is a LIE.

My final post at SA . . too much "friendly fire"

An indicator of how dark the times are we are living in . .

Apostates . . "blind leaders of the blind"

Article: From Antichrist to Brother in Christ: How Protestant Pastors View the Pope / Source: Trinity Foundation

Here are some of the results of their survey:

More than half of evangelical pastors say Pope Francis is their brother in Christ.

More than one-third say they value the pope’s view on theology, and 3 in 10 say he has improved their view of the Catholic Church.

Nearly 4 in 10 say the pope, known for his humility and concern for the poor, has had a positive impact on their opinions of the Catholic Church. Almost two-thirds view Pope Francis as a genuine Christian and “brother in Christ.”

When asked: “Can a Catholic be a born-again Christian?” Ninety percent of Protestant pastors surveyed responded “Yes,” five percent “No,” and five percent “Not Sure.”

“Those are among the findings of a new study of 1,000 Protestant senior pastors, released this week from Nashville-based LifeWay Research.”

“Overall, the survey found that many Protestant pastors have taken a liking to Pope Francis.”[1]

Historically, Protestants have viewed the Pope as Antichrist.

I guess we all know whose voices you would have been attempting to silence during the Reformation . . to wit . .
those who bore a bold witness for Christ and an equally bold witness against the pope and his “church”

In the context of holiness . .

I'm sure Jesus is opposed to a man being called “His Holiness”, as is the pope of Rome by her devotees and those who have joined themselves to her in an unscriptural union.
Yet you would have Christians be silent in the face of such blasphemy! “Can two walk together except they be agreed?” Amos 3:3

In his timely article, Antichrist Unveiled, former RC priest Richard Bennett sets forth the testimony the Reformers gave regarding the pope of Rome.

“None, but God, could have delineated beforehand the “mystery of iniquity,” which is clearly the Office of the Papacy of the Roman Catholic Church. Man could never have anticipated all this; only God foretells it.

That a power claiming to act for God, to be “as God,” in the midst of the Christian Church, flouting His truth and mocking His own Holiness,
defies imagination."

"Every Reformer, without exception, spoke of the papacy as Antichrist" -R. Allen Anderson, Unfolding the Revelation

Standing with the Reformers & those of "like precious faith".

1) No Harmony Between Biblical Christians and Catholics!
Is True Dialogue Possible?
- continued

Since Vatican II, the Roman church has been on the ecumenical bandwagon. As the new millennium approaches, Rome's interest in gathering all professing Christians to her bosom seems to be intensifying. Is this a realistic goal? Will Christians have to turn aside from foundational doctrines of the faith in order to embrace Roman theology? Is the Roman church willing to honestly look at her dogma and doctrine and, where necessary, bring them into line with the clear teaching of Scripture?

Any sweetheart ecumenical arrangement between Christians and the Roman church will be hopelessly one-sided. The Roman Catholic church has no intention of modifying her dogma, doctrine or practice one iota, so the Chrstian interested in joining the Roman circus will be expected to abandon all his beliefs which are not in line with what the RCC holds as truth. Ecumenism? No way! We are talking about subjugation to an earthly cult.

1) No Harmony Between Biblical Christians and Catholics!
Is True Dialogue Possible?
The need to engage in a spirited exchange seems to be an imperative with some who would plead Rome's case, but are they searching for truth or defending a lie?

Should believers give ear to the arguments of the Roman apologists and proselyters? Should we give them opportunities to air their heretical teachings in a Christian channel? Again, I do believe the Bible gives clear guidance:
Galatians 1:6-9, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

Lurker . .
Papal Rome's gospel is God-dishonouring and Christ-insulting.
How can those who own and profess Christ as their Saviour and Lord be silent in the face of those who bring another gospel, which is no gospel at all, and one that puts them in bondage?

How can a true Christian hold their peace while Catholic apologists are proclaiming salvation through their sacraments rather than salvation in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ?
The RC “church” affirms that grace is communicated through her sacraments, rather than through Christ, who is “full of grace and truth.” . . “and of his fullness have we all received grace for grace.”

What Christian worth their salt wouldn't be opposed to the man-centered gospel of Rome, and that which glories in the flesh, rather than glorying in Christ.

Galatians 6:14
“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”

As if the RC “church” didn't have a big enough bully pulpit to propagate their false gospel, you want to increase their sphere of influence at this forum, while silencing their detractors.

Lurker, enjoy your dialogue with SteveR, but as for me, I am set for the defence of the gospel.
- Phil. 1:7

--------

Lurker . . I take exception to your insinuating remarks.

AND what's more . . I have serious questions regarding your motivation behind them.

Why would you encourage and promote dialogue with RC apologists/ecumenists, who are the enemies of the gospel of Christ?

We are called to bear witness to the truth, not dialogue, the very means RC apologists are presently employing to draw multitudes of professing Christians into the papal fold.

What possible motivation would you have to silence me for exposing that which is ungodly and unscriptural?

Unless you are a papal ecumenist, I cannot for the life of me understand why you would NOT want that which is unarguably a man-centered gospel, namely Jesuitical “liberation theology” . . exposed?

Ask yourself . . . is that

God-glorifying?

Perhaps you need to search your own heart in this matter.

Think about it.

The political/social gospel of Roman Catholicism, known as Jesuit "liberation theology"
vs the glorious gospel of the free & sovereign grace of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ . . a most solemn matter!

In summation, the RC “church” proclaims “another gospel” which is “no gospel at all”
Gal. 1:6-9

a gospel of their own making and one that leaves man “dead in trespasses and sins.”
Eph. 2:1

For Christ came to set the prisoner free . . to set at liberty the captives
Is. 61:1-2; Luke 4:18-19

Christ came to set sinners free from their servitude to sin !
John 8:34

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
John 8:36

Christ came to save us from our sins .

“. . . and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
Matt. 1: 21

There is not a poorer and more impoverished man than he who is without Christ !

For your edification . .

Faithful Christians down through the years have strongly objected to any interpretation of salvation that claims to be biblical, and yet obscures man's need to be saved from sin through faith in the atoning blood of Jesus Christ
