While I am not a Calvinist and we might use somewhat different terms still you have given a very good discription of conversion.
IMHO things that are excellent in fervently praying and interceding His will be done.
Sir,

I don't have much time just now, but specifically which of the 5 points of the doctrines of grace, do you oppose?

What is IMHO?

When the Triune God condescends to pity frail children of dust, or effectually call his elect; He begins by pressing the offense of their sin and their present misery, due to it. We are by fallen nature so dull to truth, that God many times makes the misery, so miserable that He has our undivided attention. In so afflicting the the mind and upsetting the affections, the poor sinner will seek God in his Word of Truth whether read or preached and the Holy Spirit will enlighten his mind in the knowledge of Christ. The poor begging petitioner for mercy, 'Behold'ing his desperate need, and the Lamb of God, his substitute, as taking his rightful place under God's due wrath for sin, then understands Christ to be the only true lover of his never dying soul, while the Holy Spirit, is at the same time renewing his will, and enabling him to embrace Jesus Christ freely offered to him in the gospel.

Every man's 'experience' will differ related to his previous knowledge base. The work of God will be impressed in time on any poor saved sinner that God has predestinated, called, justified, and glorified. Romans 8:30

Can you elect representatives to vow to uphold a Deist Constitution and thereby acknowledge that they have no fear of the One True and Living GOD and His Only Begotten Son, evidenced by swearing a God denying oath and still believe that any political party varies in essence? A pragmatic will.

Agreed Jim, now effectual and fervent prayer was demonstrated by a number of God's servants. Why, I was just reading David's example in Psalm 69, together with David Dickson's words on the matter. Sometimes in the heat of the frey a poor can complain to God easier then plead. I forgot the Save me, and started with O God...

It is comforting to hear from Mr.Dickson the canonical historic testimony of David and his Lord.

I don't believe that was what Frank said and if you think 9th commandment violations are comical, you might want to rethink why God doesn't think so.

Democratic Governments represent the will of the people. Really? How can that be when `the pragmatics`themselves only agree to disagree for the biggest piece of the pie?

Who is he trying to kid? There is none but
GOD that can govern this mess. That will become inceasingly clear to all His skeptical creatures as His decrees unfold in creation and providence, it is past time to learn what the Scriptures principally teach and what duty he requires of us; or there is no time to waste. Redeem the time!

I am relatively sure that most here will commend the girl's courage in the face of her opposition for taking a stand against the atheist's threats. I read the article, I listened to the video clip and sorrow filled my mind affecting my emotions and will.
Big brains, little brains what difference does it make.
Isaiah 2:22

But for what it's worth; it would have been better for her to stay home, not graduate and not be asked to give into the pressure of going in either direction, contrary the the Truth. It is never wise to choose between two evils, it is better to wait patiently for God.

Contrast: This morning I spoke with an elderly woman who with tears in her eyes said, the Lord showed me my sin and my Savior when he took my son. Then He comforted me in his Word, that he was with Him. As I questioned her a little more; The little book of Robert Murray M'Cheyne came to mind 'Comfort in Sickness and in Death' M'Cheyne gave 4 reasons for sickness in death as he preached through portions of John 11.
The basic reasons not for the miraculous as the article would feign, but real sickness and death were 1. to save the person 2. to save a family member or someone close to the sick or dying person 3. to correct for sin and 4. for the glory of God. It is a quick read and a very helpful little book to confront real life with the Truth

John 11:25-27 Jesus saith unto her (Martha), I am the Resurrection and the Life: he that believeth in me, though he be dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me, shall never die. Believest thou this?
She saith unto him, Yea, Lord, I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world."

Is this a sanctioned teaching of the FPC? If so, is there a link you could provide where I could study the matter in detail?
Btw, Rev 14:1-5 speaks of the 144,000 sealed from all the tribes of Israel and verses 6&7 speaks of "the hour of his judgment is come". Are you prepared to argue that these events were fulfilled in 17th century Scotland, Ireland and England as well?
Sir, I cannot speak for the FPC as to whether it is a sanctioned teaching, having never been in communion with them. From their present position I would tend to doubt it. Though it was Mr. John McMillian that asceded to the United Societies and continued the testimony as faithfully recorded for posterity in the Act Declaration and Testimony of the Reformed Presbytery of Scotland and has given the most notable Covenant Renovation at Auchensaugh that still gives witness unto the present day of what a Covenant renewal should look like. I commend both these documents to any serious inquirer, taste and see. If you know and love God's Word you will know if the teaching is of God or whether he in Christ's name speaks of himself.

I wrote more, but I don't think I get as much space as members.

Rev. 22:16-21 "I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: (Rev.11:4-11) And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen." Compare Scripture with Scripture from the whole of Scripture.

Compare 1 Cor. 15 the whole chapter prayerfully to 2 Peter 3 Note verses these verses recorded by Peter "But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment(separation) and perdition (utter destruction or destroying in hell)of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up." Read on.

It would appear that this downward spiral was been spiraling, but not without some control historically in the USA. If you look at the faces of these who had it so much 'better' it is hard for me to believe, it was exactly as we want to see it. The working women seemed happier then the agrarian family, and that should not be the case if they had to abandon their first sphere of duty closer to home. The happiest children were eating and the others seemed as happy as their parents.
It seems the question to ask is since the down hill spiral continues in the said nation
1. Why is it so?
And
2. What should the visible Church do about it since they are the ones holding back judgment to some degree (or not)?

Revelation 11:1-2 was "fulfilled" in the 17th century? At Westminster Abby? By order of Parliament?
Possibly only as regards the first and second angles' voice mentioned in Rev.14 the third being yet future?

This seems to be verified by the historical testimony of James Renwick and Alexander Peden who prophesied, in part in "A Cloud of Witnesses". see James Durham definition of that gift post Canon prophesy.

By an order of Parliment? Yes, but even more importantly by oaths to God sworn by Church, State and citizens who professed the true Reformed religion. Most proved perfidious, Nevertheless if these oaths were according to the whole testimony of Scripture, they stand for all time, and the consequences of broken vows will be observable to all unless God has shut their seeing eye that's left, (the Scripture calls it being blind in part true of the Jew and according to Romans 11 covenanted Gentiles who are unbelieving). Hopefully, none will stop their ears entirely because of their unbelief.

At first glance: I ask myself, Why does Fox News concern itself with the UK when the same thing under 'a perceivable wile' happens in the USA? Perceivable to those poor ignorant souls that are pitied by their Father for the Son's sake, by His Holy Spirit with sound instruction; by His pastor teachers like the faithful James Durham see his sermon on Rev. 3:7-13) and the kind & courageous Donald Cargill's historical testimony.

Fox News; Why not expose HMA and their buying up Bible belt fallen papist hospitals and holistic Mennonite hospitals while asking their Scottish/Irish residents to break their vows to God? Vows that are based on the word of the LORD. Why do so many worry about their reflection across the sea when their own house is in disarray? This case was due to Republican wiles, at that time, but I see little difference in parties, both have driven some poor ones to lose all social communion and to loose their homes for refusing to comply? Rev.13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. This would be a mark has been around during the whole of the 1260 years of apostasy, not something yet to come.

In private worship, I was caused to think upon Numbers 32:11-13 as it described for the Kirk/Church, that their faithful and true shepherds were like their Master. These were not probationers but witnesses; for Heb.12:4 is true of us, but not of them. The Great Shepherd of the sheep for all ages caused Pastors and Teachers (prophets - see J. Durham's
definition of such) to come together in three nations, Scotland going before in the example of their Elder Brother, in order to fulfill Rev.11:1 "And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein." This only is the place of safety. see verse 2. This was in order to bring the Church into a uniformity of doctrine, worship, government and discipline for the fulfillment of Psalm 133 and to heed Paul's apostolic admonition of 1 Cor.3.

San Jose John wrote:
God uses means, but sometimes those means can REALLY screw things up for themselves and others. King David's census-sin also comes to mind (2 Sam 24).
2 Sam. 24:11And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah. This text brought these to mind: relating to ministry and magistracy;

1 Kings 8:35-40 "When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee;... see the rest of the text on-line

Amos 8:11 "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:"

James 5:17-18 "Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit."

Rev. 6:6 "These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

It would seem there is a link between first table violations and second table violations in a covenanted nation, as Israel was; according to 1 Cor.10:1-7
"Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same
spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."

For Pastors and Teachers of God's calling; and their brethren's (fellow elders) ordination 1 Tim. 4:14 and for praying saints Ephes.6:18-19:

Acts 20:28-30 "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them."
