theWayPA wrote: Perhaps he mentioned it because he didn't want to feel like it would be wrong for him as a black man to vote for someone other than President Obama? Man, these message boards are so touchy and angry LOL! I love it! |

Firstblk wrote: This is amazin I've never heard a president reach out to their ethnicity. This is totally inappropriate. Alienating other people groups. I'm a black man that happen to be inopossition to everything tha Obama stands for. I hate when we categorize churches the black church the Korean Hispanic the half Hispanic the I don't what our ethnicity Church. It's the Church of God different ethnicitys not races . It's only one race the human race. If ethnicity is not an issue for you as a Christian than why did you identify yourself as a black man? Race and ethnicity are still a problem in American churches. |

Along the same lines, Gerard: Something else that could easily falsify the theory of evolution is if we found one single human fossil buried in the same layer as a dinosaur. Yet, young-earth creationists have convinced themselves that the two co-existed. In fact, if Noah's "world-wide flood" were indeed world-wide, we could PREDICT that humans and dinosaurs would be buried in the same layers. Unfortunately, the young earth theory and the flood theory contradict every bit of evidence that we have. Not one prediction has been fulfilled by either theory- to the contrary, in fact. However, given that an ancient book written by goat herders is taken to be "the word of god", these folks blindly believe otherwise. And I agree with your list of easy proofs for the theory of evolution. My favorite by far is the endogenous retrovirus. When I learned what that was and its implications on the human "family tree", I finally accepted that evolution was in fact, a fact. That was just before I stopped believing in the christian god altogether. At any rate, good posts, Gerard. I'm positive they'll be well-received by this bunch. |

Yamil/Stan, IF I WASN'T A CHRISTIAN, THEN NOBODY IS. It's so much easier for you to BELIEVE that I wasn't because, once again, it fits into your belief system. Funny how your world view keeps getting in the way, isn't it?"IF you really had been given saving faith by God you wouldn't be so ignorant of the truth." Yeah, yeah, yeah. I thought I KNEW the truth - and probably STILL know your version of the truth BETTER than you do. Yamil, Your strawman arguments against evolution are getting more tiresome than ever. Look what I wrote above. I was a Christian- a Christ-follower- a follower of "The Way"- Born again, I died, Christ lived within me, etc, etc. The fact that you refuse to believe that doesn't surprise me. It just makes you look pathetic because you cannot accept facts/reality. Do some research on evolution. I'm not a biologist, I'm a finance manager. But I've at least done my due diligence ON BOTH SIDES and made the most logical choice and accept FACT over BELIEFS. There are plenty of theistic evolutionists out there, all of whom have more common sense than you, and none of which can deny the OVERWHELMING evidence that the earth is older than you claim it is. |

Yamil, I used to have faith. I was a biblical literalist, young earth creationist like yourself and went around preaching to anyone who would listen. What changed that? FACTS.I did not acknowledge in any way that once must have even an ounce of faith to accept the fact of evolution. I simply showed you how failed and untenable your own position is. You think scientists have a scarce fossil record? Compared to WHAT, exactly? How abundant would you expect 50 million year old fossils to be? Besides, even if the evidence for evolution were lacking, SOME evidence is infinitely better than ZERO evidence, which is exactly what you have with regards to: 1) The existence of a god 2) The existence of YOUR god 3) The claim that a god wrote or inspired ANY book, much less your bible 4) The existence of miracles 5) The existence of the supernatural 6) The existence of an afterlife In fact, there is an over-abundance of COUNTER-Evidence to claims that you make with regards to religion. For example: 1) The age of the earth (Seriously...) 2) The age of the universe (I mean really...) 3) Prayer (Studies show zero effect) 4) Morality comes from god (Genocide in the bible, slavery in the bible) 5) Inerrant bible (Don't get me started) 6) etc, etc, etc |
