I believe I am a Chrsitian and have to admit that I get myself wrapped up in everyday life, work, etc. I know I should be in the Word much more often than I am in it. As a result, I live a life of doubts and fears, anxiety, wondering if I truly am saved, etc. I need the prayers of God's true people to "get me going" in the Word, etc. Any suggestions out there re: self discipline, personal time with the Lord, prayer, etc. ????? I'll be waiting!!!!

“ Great Sermon! ”
This sermon gave me so much hope. If there are any out there who have regrets about past sins, etc., this sermon must be listened to. I have been very depressed lately because of regrets, etc. I can't go back and undo those things I wish I never had done. What hope I got from this message and servant of God!

I'm so surprised that the question or topic asked about at the beginning is nothing at all what the topic is about. The question is, "hOw often do you visit this site? then I read something completely nonrelated to the subject like...what version of the Bible do you read etc??? You must admit that, for a first time "customer", this is sooooo confusing. I am sooooo baffled that there is no one to monitor this room !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please let us remember that people of the Roman Catholic faith have souls for a never ending eternity. Many of us know that the R.C. church is full of errors. Do we, as Protestants beg the people of the RC church to search the Scriptures for themselves? Many RC's have come to see the errors of their own church. Many are steeped in false doctrine. The pope himself needs salvation or he will be lost forever. Many Rc's know that Protestants are correct in their Biblical doctrine , but won't break away because of tradition. May God open their spiritual eyes before it's too late.

This sermon was just what I had to hear! Imagine if this type of preaching was heard in all our churches. It was so Biblical and right on according to Scripture. Thank You!

I found SA just a few weeks ago for the first time and then last week found out/discovered this forum. I gave my opinion re: Psalm singing, etc. I must say that after viewing this site each day and reading comments and remarks, I'm at times baffled that this is supposed to be a Christian forum! I can't believe the sarcasim, the angry words, the names certain people are called. I'm really surprised that there is no one overseeing what is taking place in this forum. It could be such a helpful, edifying and encouraging place to visit from time to time. I just told 4 of my close brothers and sisters in the Lord about how great this forum is and now???? Let's pray that God will change hearts here and use this forum for what it should be used for, to His honor and glory and to the benifit of His Church!!

JD,

It's amazing to me that people have a "problem" with the "Sabbath" commandment and not the 9 others. God said in this commandment " wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." I don't think for one minute that the LORD "unblessed" or "unhallowed" the sabbath day. I believe God gave us this commandment for a reason. First of all, He hallowed and blessed it above the other days of the week. I also believe He gave it for our good. It's a day set aside to go to God's house, twice in some Prot.churches, we can rest our bodies from the busyness of 6 days of work. Imagine, God gave this Sabbath day to us as a gift and many "church people" kick against it. It's mind boggling. How sad that stores are open 7 days a week so that some can't even find time to go to church or are too tired because of the work overload. Just look at the malls on Sunday. People exhausted, etc. A machine that runs constantly will eventually break down. I think this is happening in society today with no break whatsoever in the daily routine of work, etc. Let's pray that people will once again see the Sabbath day as a privelege and blessing and not a commandment to dispute!

Many of us are "angered" at what the pope has said these past days. And, rightly so. However, I feel compelled to write what has happened and is happening in many protestant churches who know better and have known better in the past. We may be very thankful that God used Martin Luther to break with this false church. Many RC's don't know any better. I'm baffled at the ignorance of many RC's re: the Bible, God's own word for the human race which He meant for us to read personally. They have not been as priveleged as many protestants who had the Bible to read themselves, not in Latin, a language many don't understand, but in their own language. Let's pray that God will also have mercy on many Protestant churches who are falling away. Many Prot. churches have become nothing but entertainment centers, especially some of the mega churches. False teaching, more emphasis on signs and wonders, the scriptual, beautiful Psalms and hymns that have neen sung for hundreds of years, now, only in the last 10-15 yrs., being replaced by Christian rock, contemporary, etc. etc. music. Imagine, in some Prot.churches you can go to a traditional service, contemporay service, emergent type service, etc. We Protestants are no better if we are not following the Bible in its original intent.

Michael,

Thanks for the encouraging comment. You hit the nail right on the head. When I speak to "church people", you'd be surprised to hear " we're not under the law, but under grace". I say to them, AMEN! However many do not understand that Christ came to fulfill the law, but did not abolish the 10 commandments. Each one of those commandments are meant to be observed until Christ returns. When wehear that the 10 commandments should not be displayed in a public building, for ex, you shudder because these commandments are a gift from God to guide us and not to hurt us. How blind are people, Michael, without God! They have eyes, but don't see!!!!!!!!!!

To anyone who thinks that we don't have to follow the 10 commandments, which one of the commandments do we not have to obey? We can't thank God enough for the 10 commandments if we see it rightly!!!! They are all meant for our personal good and for the good of mankind or am I wrong on this?

Those of us who know the Bible, etc. know that the pope is in error in many things. Sadly to say, the Roman Catholic Church is in sad shape. When the blind lead the blind, both will fall. The pope has a soul also and we must pray for his salvation just as we should anyone else who is lost and in error. Let's pray that the Lord will open the spiritual eyes of the many who hear false teaching in the RCC. It's only God's grace that many of us Christians know better, otherwise, we too could be believing in purgatory, praying to saints who don't even hear us, limbo, also not scriptual and on and on the list of errors go!

Rocker,

I don't know if you are for real, in other words, trying to reach the lost in a way they can relate to, namely, rock music, rather than the "traditional church music". First of all, God has to reach them and not the rock music style music of the world. Having studied music and being a music teacher, musician, etc., I know where music came from and where it is going. The Bible says, " be separate and come out from among them". The true church of Christ has to be an example of Godly worship, but the sad example of the world's music should not be. I've been on both sides. If you want my private e-mail address, let me know, and we can e-mail further. I'm only in New Jersey, next state over!

Could someone guide me to the verse in Scripture that explains the council of Dort? I also didn't find John Calvins name in Scripture. I couldn't find the word "Dort" anywhere. When I entered this forum, I thought God's word was central. I'm quite disappointed, especially when we deal with a weighty matter such as "God's Law"! I still think God's word is sufficient to explain these things, especially in a forum where "Dordt and Calvin" are not know in most circles!

Wayne,

Thanks for the welcome and the encouragement. You made a good point re: the good and the bad. 2 of our congregations, of our denomination, are in B.C. !!! What a small world. All the way on the Pacific side!! We only have 16 churches in the US and Canada.

Neil,
We are talking about God's Law and how it is commonly taught. The point I'm making is that some/many of us are Christians and we are dealing with God's word, etc, not about how Dunkin Donuts are made, etc. for an example!!

I am new to this forum. I think it's great to have this kind of an opportunity to share. However, I'm shocked to read the word [liar] etc. in this type of a forum. One could expect it in a secular chat room and worse, but not here. My own opinion on how God's law is commonly taught is that the churches today for the most part don't preach it, understand it, etc. I hope to add more as I see you guys write. My own church believes in the Canons of Dort, Heidelberg Catechism, etc., however in an open forum, we should stay with God's word!

Thanks for sharing your opinion re: Psalm singing, etc. in the worship service. If people would/could only get hold of the Psalter, I think many would see where we're coming from. Tonight as i sat in church, I thought how many people are not as priveleged as we are to have the Psalter. I wish I could give everyone a Psalter so they could see and sing for themselves what we're talking about. Many of the hymns are absolutely beautiful, however, God's word, sung right from the Psalms is still tops in my book!!!
