Justin this is a different group than the one you are thinking of. This is a home bible study group not a 40 to 50 person church like the other guy built in a garage on his property.
I would like to find out what kind of people they are and whether or not they hold to orthodoxy. If they are indeed preaching the gospel and hold fast to the word, then we should offer to pay the fine just so they can continue to meet while they are fighting this in court.
Another gnostic self help book, that's great. I can put it on the shelf next to my collection of Joyce Meyers, Norman Vincent Peale, and the plethora of chicken soup for the ... books.
The line doesn't seem hard to understand to me. We obey as long as govt. is in accord the commands of God. When they don't line up? Obey God rather than man.
This is exactly what happens when we abandon God and His word as a nation. Without the foundation, the whole thing begins to crumble. As you can see from some other articles, incest, polygamy, and this nonsense are coming on the heels of our government endorsement of sodomy.
You are right, of course. To say that the repubs are the "Godly" party is wrong at best. Neither party is the answer. I'm afraid that it really may be too late to affect change here anyway. Hebrews 11:13-16 is the answer.
KJVOnly I commend you for being the exception in your generation. I teach teens in my congregation and to have a teen really desire the Word and seek knowledge is a rare thing.
Step 1. Throw the left behind series in the trash. Step 2. Forget everything you read in said books. Step 3. Read the scriptures without presupposing dispensational ideas.
I'll leave you to do some digging. For full disclosure I was once a pre trib rapture guy but later felt that the weight of the scriptures leaned towards post trib or amillenial
Is this guy actually living in the real world? They must keep him locked in one of those sound proof booths with no ability to connect with the outside world.
Taking a public stand- I didn't read a word you posted because it hurts my head to even look at it. You know, as purportedly intelligent and educated Christians, you would think that we could communicate in normal language and a format that everyone could read and understand. When I see posts like the last one, I immediately shut off and disregard it as coming from a kook. Do us all a favor and just say something in a less conspiracy theorist/kooky manner that we can read and discuss.
This is a sad issue. We are failing the next generation. The article stated," “The church today, including both the adult and teenage generations, is in an era of rampant biblical illiteracy.â€
This is surely true. If we can't abide in the Word then the Word is not going to abide us.
I understand what you guys are saying and I do get it. I'm not saying that we hold the book itself as some sort of superstitious good luck charm. What I mean is that we should never tie the word of God to some other movement, especially as a money maker like they have done. To me it seems to cheapen the message by saying that we need to use the word of God to sell breast cancer awareness. It just feels wrong, kind of like setting up money exchange and such in the temple.
