I am NOT ignoring 1 John 1:8, I included that in a previous post. That does NOT mean you have a free license to go out and live a life characterized by sin. Again, the doctrines of REGENERATION {A new creation, the new birth, a new heart} and SANCTIFICATION{The Sacred Scriptures act as a surgeon's knife, cutting away sin as the born again believer studies and meditates on God's word} reflect a life where one is NOT sinless, but does sin less and less. The biggest fear of a true servant of Christ is that we would willfully sin against our Holy God. Monks are NOT born again GG, they follow a ritualistic, sacramental 'religion'; the bible is quite clear, salvation is a "gift", given by God, according to His "grace". It is not a group or denominational thing, it is one on one, as God calls a lost sinner to Christ, humbles that sinner, then that broken sinner cries out, "O God, have mercy on me, a sinner". The heart must be CHANGED- that is what being 'born again' truly means. BYSNE- you consistently post only concerning RCC news stories. If you aren't an RCC, then tell everyone here. Why the secrecy? You are playing games purposely, which says much about you. |

To those who cling to Roman Catholicism:{GG, Lance, BYSNE} You gentleman have NEGLECTED the scriptures given and have opted to twist my posts, all because it does not fit your 'sacred tradition'. Christ teaches {note that please!} "you can tell them by their fruit". If you understood the doctrines of sanctification and regeneration, that teaching would make sense. Read 1 John chapter 3, the scriptures are clear that those who truly belong to Christ do NOT continue a life controlled by sin. Again gentlemen, these are the teachings of the Sacred Scriptures! "For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. BUT when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, HE saved us, NOT on the basis of DEEDS which we have done in righteousness, but according to HIS MERCY, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom HE poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by HIS GRACE we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life: Titus 3:3-7 |

BYSNE- you say the brawl isn't sufficient to condemn them as non-Christians, although it may be a 'symptom' of a heart that hasn't been changed by God. {I prefer to use 'sign' instead of 'symptom'} If the heart remains unchanged by God, the individual is still lost in sin, that's what the 'new birth' is all about. Read Matt. 15:19, Christ teaches what comes out of every heart. Again, the Greek Orthodox Monk is still lost in sin, he follows 'tradition', 'ritual', 'salvation by works'...this is NOT what scripture teaches about salvation. All who have been born again have assurance of eternal life. Ephesians 2:8,9 teaches how salvation works. One must grasp the concept of 'GIFT', and 'GRACE', as well as 'NOT OF WORKS'. |

If these monks are following traditions, rituals, etc. taught by men, they are not born again. Only God can save a lost sinner, Ephesians 2:8,9- For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the GIFT of God. {it's God's gift, He gives it to whom He chooses, based on His mercy} NOT of works, lest any man should boast". The Greek Orthodox Church does not follow scripture alone, salvation is based on works,{performing the 7 sacraments in one's lifetime, these are the 'channels' to receive God's grace} with no eternal security. Again, NO ONE can earn their way to heaven, or work to receive grace. The Father gives His gift to whom it pleases Him to do so. Brawling would seem to indicate one's heart has NOT been changed by God. |

Let's start by asking, 'what is a born again believer?' One who has repented of their sins {Mat. 4;17, Luke 13:3, Acts 17:30}, been given a new heart and sealed with God's Holy Spirit {John 3:3, Eze. 11:19, John 14:23}and bears evidence of salvation in thought, word, and deed. Is such a person sinless, or perfect? No, which is where 1 John 1:9 comes into play. "Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness, sin is lawlessness. No one who abides in Him keeps on sinning, no one who keeps on sinning has either seen Him or known Him. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's Seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God" 1 John 3:4,6,8,9 Is one who practices violence 'born again'? The bible speaks against it. |
