As we are soon to be great grandparents this was most heartbreaking to read..
"Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down"....

Much of what is being posted up in this news feed section is nothing more than click bait..
It's about as edifying as a piece of dry shoe leather found at the bottom of the bin.
A waste of time.

Dozie,
I would ask you in all Christian charity are you right with God?
For as a former RC I NEVER once heard the gospel of grace in any parish that we attended.
You identify yourself as a catholic, that is a religion, not a saving relationship with the living God through His Son The Lord Jesus Christ.
Do hope you will stick around so you can hear of this wonderful Saviour and His glorious Gospel .

Sister Dorcas, your quote from McCheyne was beneficial; yes, those who gaze/look upon/to Christ continually will greatly benefit from doing so. We are to meditate upon Him/His word, pondering who He is, what He has done, and His coming again, marveling at His works and person!
Bless you for sharing the quote
Thank-you dear one for your encouragement.

George Washington Carver was refused admission to a college because of his skin color.
Years later, when someone asked him the name of the college, he replied, "It doesn't matter."
Love forgives and doesn't hold grudges.

Not until we reach heaven and gaze on incarnate Love will we see with clearer vision and understand with keener intellect the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Hasten the day, O Blessed Lord Jesus.

Blessings to you sister.

Just for clarification:
When I put up the link concerning the Lords Supper, I only posted to show the differing views concerning wine and temperance.
One can accept or reject it...that is your right to private judgement.

Dave,
I quite understand your righteous anger.
Ths individual is a romanist troll, an enemy of the cross.
God abhors deceitful men (Psalm 5:6).
We are told in Scripture to expose, rebuke, and silence false teachers.
We are exhorted to do this so others will not be deceived.
Thanks for your comment.
Spot on..

There is nothing biblical about the Roman Catholic mass - https://carm.org/mass-and-sacrifice-christ
Whatever they erected along that highway was a stench in the nostrils of the living, eternal, thrice-holy Jehovah God.
May God grant you true eternal life John Y., for you are presently under wrath and your foot will slide in due time. You know nothing of the regenerating power of the Spirit of God, you rely on your own profession and 'work' to save your soul. You will perish in your sins unless God has mercy on you.
Ladybug,
Hoping to derail the romanist agitator.

Wanted to share with you that 2 members of our family who are life long RC are questioning much concerning that blasphemous religion and one has left and is attending a non- denominational congregation.
The other seems to be heading in that direction also.
Hoping and praying for them to be turned from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God.

Dorcas, though this is a given, by the reactions of some here it appears those granted the least liberty of conscience are them for abstinence! Yet, they are ones with our neighbour's best interest in mind due to value attached to the position in question.
Dear B.

Robert Murray McCheyne used to say,"A glance at Christ will save. but it is the gazing at Christ that sanctifies".
May we all spend time gazing at the Christ who is revealed in the Scriptures and long to be more like Him, the Holy Spirit effecting the progressive change.
May we all strive for spiritual maturity through dependence on the Holy Spirit and submission to the lordship of Christ.

My last post concerning this matter.

Good evening.

Sister Dorcas,
Your link was most beneficial, thank you for posting it. I read the 'scriptural elements' section and found it to be very informative. It's interesting that the heretic Finney was influential in substituting grape juice; I also found it interesting that Finney thought we become sinners through our environment. We see much of that thinking within 'Christendom' in our day as well. Also, this was interesting, "Sixth, It is objected that some have an inherent weakness for alcohol, and that, because of past sinful indulgence or genetic tendencies, such persons would be turned again to “alcoholism” through the use of wine at the Lord’s Table. In answer, the Scriptures never treat drunkenness as a “disease.” “Alcoholism” is not a disease per se, but the sin of drunkenness. It is a sin of intemperance, or loss of self–control". This was touched on earlier in an exchange I had. As I stated, genetics and demographics do not cause us to sin, the sin of drunkenness stems from out of our own hearts and the lust that lies within the heart.
Again, thank you for providing this very informative link
Dear One,
You are most welcome.
May all remember to allow full liberty of conscience unto the brethren.

No doubt you mean well but getting our marching orders from sermons and commentaries rather than the bible makes for lazy Christians. I could easily post links to sermons with an opposing view so how are we to know who to believe?
Best to stick with the bible which makes very clear drunkenness is sin. It doesn't teach abstinence nor does it teach moderation. God saw fit to leave those decisions to His people enabled to make wise decisions in such matters by the indwelling HS.
For those who imply that abstinence enhances personal holiness is to imply that we can add to the robe of Christ's righteousness which hides the mortal, corruptible filth underneath from the sight of God. It implies personal merit which is heresy. What's underneath is supposed to be DEAD so our soul's can live for God.
Now you listened to the sermon. Was any of that mentioned?

AMEN!

Some good points fom all posters.
We are not on FB.
As stated on the 'wine' thread we certainly do not make this a test of spirituality or fellowship with other Christians who are on FB, watch tv, go to sporting events, movies, celebrate holidays, hair length on women, beards on men, blah, blah.
Some Christians need to resign as the helper of the Holy Spirit..
As the Preacher wisely stated.."Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise"..Ecclesiastes 7:16.

Remember we don't throw out the Old Testament in the New Covenant, so the fact that they carried weapons for self-defense in Nehemiah is sufficient Scriptural backing.
You are not throwing out the 10 commandments because we are in the New Covenant. You do several things not "authorized" by Jesus and the Apostles. You are on a computer, you drive a car, you have a copy of the entire Bible in print, you use electricity and have running water. Obviously the list could be long.
Paul used government appointed methods for self-defense (Acts 22:24-29 and 23:12-24--this one even after the Lord had told him he would testify of Him in Rome). Here, in the states, we are given a right to own a gun as a government appointed means of self-defense, that is no different method than what Paul used in his day.
God bless.

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
