DJC49 wrote: That entire Siberian "drilling to hell" story was proven to be a fraud. Another point to consider is that, before the Last Judgment, it is only the souls of the damned that are in hell, not their bodies. Disembodied souls cannot make any sound. |

savedbygrace wrote: John Yurich, Surely, the bishop of this states capitols diocese would have rebuked the editor! One might hope so, but there are plenty of bad bishops in the RCC, whose objective, it would appear, is to undermine the Catholic Church from within. (More effective than doing it from without.)We have several like that in Australia. Administratively, it's hard for the Church to do anything about them; but occasionally something is done, as in the case of a dissident French bishop who was transferred to a diocese, existing in name only, somewhere in the Algerian desert. Mostly everyone just hangs on till they retire, in the hope of getting a better one next time. |

lyn wrote: Lance, where is the office of pope explained in scripture? Where is papacy identified and described in God's word? I am not referring to a roundabout backdoor explanation. What's the point, Lyn? You know it's Matt 16:18–19. But of course, you reject it, just as your co-religionists have for the last 500 years, with all sorts of attempts to explain it away. |

GK wrote: hey Lance....tell me this.Cast your mind way back to the time when there were 2 people calling themselves "pope" at the same time which one was "infallible",and which was the actual head of your "church"? and also, what about the time a woman was holding the position? Somebody call my name?Actually, at one stage there were even three rivals claiming to be pope. But in fact, there has only ever been one true pope at any one time. Even today, you'll find a few "antipopes" claiming to be the real one. As for Pope Joan, I thought it was a Protestant, writing several centuries ago, who proved that such a person never existed. Regarding the current fuss about the Pope's mention of condoms, and the furious condemnations in the secular press, it may be a good thing. It may alert people to the fact that those countries that have the biggest promotion of condoms are the very ones with the biggest incidence of AIDS. Compare Thailand (condoms) and the Philippines (faithfulness to one partner). It's the former that has the AIDS epidemic. |

Jim Lincoln wrote: 'A lighted fagot was now laid at Dr. Ridley's feet, which caused Mr. Latimer to say: "Be of good cheer, Ridley; and play the man. We shall this day, by God's grace, light up such a candle in England, as I trust, will never be put out."' You've quoted that before, Jim. And as I pointed out last time, the candle went out long ago.On this particular occasion, God declined to bestow his grace. |
