Anna: It's not so much that it's a luxury for a woman to stay home. It's that so many couples live beyond their means. It actually costs more for the woman to work outside the home, and countless households have proven it with their own budgets. I've heard men admit that the reason they like their wives working outside the home is for all their extra vehicles and electronic toys. The only purpose for the encouragement for women to leave the home is to tax the other half of the population. The woman is not to bear the man's curse to till the soil and no man should put her there. And no woman should take a job away from a man which he needs to support his wife and children.
A father's headship or marriage is the means of a woman's support unless she is over 60 years old, in which case if there are no children to care for her, the church supports her. These arrangements are discussed in I Tim 5:4-14.
If Palin were truly pro-life, she would be preserving her husband's life by being HIS helpmeet, not John McCain's. She would be preserving the life of her children by being in the home with them and nurturing them instead of being a mayor, governor and campaigning for VP. She would be preserving the life of her local church by washing the saints' feet. Pro-life means a whole lot more than being against women murdering their babies in the womb. It means the preserving of life and a woman living up to her place in God's created order as a life giver and a life preserver. I know the feminists here hate these biblical arguments, and believe differently, but their arguments are with the holy scriptures, not with us. These same evangelicals who complain about our words will soon be sweating and shouting "TESTIFY, SISTERGIRL!" to women preachers in their churches.
And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. ~ Gen 11:4
No, Mike. I'm just saying that with all the talk about unity in the Church, you would think there'd be more of a call to use a standard English Bible. Since that isn't important in most churches, IMO it calls into question if it's true John 17 unity that people want - or if they have a PC definition of unity rather than a biblcal one. I think with all too many Christians it's the former rather than the latter. Obviously there are exceptions, but they're few and far between.
True, Joseph - the use of all of these different versions is just one more way the church is divided. Bible studies and Sunday schools are so annoying because of the NIV, NKJV and ESV all at once. All this call for unity and all these different translations?
After years of being livingbibled, NIVed, Fill-In-The-Blank Devotionaled and ESVed to a pulp, I have to say that I just prefer the King James Bible. And it's not something I want to or even feel the need to argue about with others. I think reading it aloud when it's my turn in a bible study or Sunday School speaks louder than going on and on about why it's superior to other versions, personally. It's just beautiful to hear read. I've been studying with the 1611 KJV to the exclusion of any other versions and my love for the Lord and His Word and scripture memorization ability has increased so much. I've also learned more about the history of the English language.
Yes, he will definitely answer to God. The scary thing is though, there are a lot of men who are as effeminate as he is and a lot of them fill America's pulpits. Now that Ray Boltz has "come out of the closet" I wonder how many evangelicals and evangelical pastors are going to follow suit?
It's probably best to just merely cut down on meat and dairy rather than completely eliminating them. Too much dairy does interfere with iron absorption in women, and it can cause digestive difficulties in some people. Also, animal products need to be obtained from good, clean local farms where livestock are treated well. We love the Whole Foods Market.
God has given us animals for food, and no amount of scientific studies can refute the eternal truths of God's Word.
The only foods that are to be safely eliminated are refined sugar and flour. These also interfere with iron and B vitamin absorption.
Excellent posts, Alan H. I also voted no to both. The Bible in Isaiah 3:12 clearly calls women's rule a curse, that people under women's rule are caused to err and are destroyed.
Great Sermon! Good grief, Susan. Every seasoned theologian and pastor uses the phrase, The Second Adam. Second and Last are the same thing in this situation. Do you also dislike the word "second" for the second coming of Christ? It's also the last coming of Christ. Please don't waste this stellar preacher's time and comment space with your pettynonsense.
Yes, Jim you are correct! The bible is clear that God's wrath is on the wicked - not their sin. God sends sinners to hell, not sin. Hate the sin love the sinner is another saying in modern antinomian evangelicalism.
