Php 1:15-18 (15) Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: (16) The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: (17) But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. (18) What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
Jim Lincoln wrote: Mike, with Enron, there was obvious criminal activity. So, naturally there were trials. Stupidity, bad judgment, and ignorance are not criminal activities (though that's still not to say all business people and politicians should be required to classes in ethics, so even if the classes probably wouldn't do any good for non-Christians, at least they couldn't say they didn't know the ethical thing to do), if they these conditions were actionable, Bush would have been impeached. Another person who complained about the liberal press, and again something to remember, Judge Obama on Performance Alone[/URL].
I presume that you're trying to tell us to judge Obama on his actions alone.
Jesus tells us that we CAN judge people by what they say. You judge people by what they do. In fact, you do both.
All one has to do is to examine the text of Obama's speeches, executive orders, and his cabinet appointments to see where this government is headed.
You have no evidence to show that President Bush conspired with Enron's leaders.
Finally, that "nincompoop" protected you for 8 years against from more attacks.
Wise, to piggy-back on your comment, as lives are transformed by the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, the institutions to which they belongs or had influence over, also changed.
Wise wrote: It is not about freedom of religion but knowing God. My point is those who think prayer in schools will some how translate into a better society is wrong. Christian's should be transforming lives not institutions. Jesus nor Paul overturned the governments of their times. But they converted citizens of that government. Was it great when as a nation we all had a healthy fear of the LORD YES. But as we see currently as a whole the nation has turned it back on GOD. They elected a president which I pray for daily who's beliefs border on insanity when held up to biblical scrunity.
“One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day [alike]. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth [it] unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard [it]. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.” (Romans 14:5-6)
To celebrate or not to celebrate is a matter of one's own conscience.
“Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. But those [that] seek my soul, to destroy [it], shall go into the lower parts of the earth. They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes. But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.” (Psalm 63:7-11)
God bless these brothers and sisters in their stand.
This man needs to realize that it's not a matter of how he feels, it's what the Word of God says.
When a man in his position as a pastor starts makeing statement like this, he needs to beware.
“My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.” (James 3:1)
He's putting himself in the position of being one who wearies the LORD. The LORD will only put up with that for just so long.
“Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied [him]? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil [is] good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where [is] the God of judgment?” (Malachi 2:17)
Instead he needs to use his pulpit to proclaim God's Law concerning homosexuality & then to proclaim God's grace as the one and only remedy.
Castanet wrote: Psalm 12:8 "The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted." If society is going to teach them that evil is good them what can they expect? But it is not new.... Mal 2:17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?
Castanet, you hit the nail right on the head. Thanks!
