Just reading the headlines posted, it's a dad state of affairs. Portland, OR, is a disaster zone crafted by Progressive politics and its militant arm, Antifa. Minneapolis is in free fall. Both with many others are spreading all kinds of fake information for the purpose of manipulating public opinion. Sad state of affairs. And they have the gall to complain about the President?
"Everything is in place for the cultural definition of marriage to continue evolving to suit society's personal desires and whims" is crowd-sourced morality and truth. In other words, the mob is trying to take the place of the Lord. But all they will create is anarchy, fear & destruction.
The Lord is He who made us and not we ourselves. We are the sheep of His pasture. Psalm 100 applies.
Amen, Mike. When one goes about making up his own truth on his way about life rather than relying on the infallible source, any wind of doctrine blows them wherever.
Tim, glad you are protected from the nonsense brought into the Pedimont from those carpet-bagging liberals. My mother graduated from a now gone high school in Wake County just after WWII. How things have changed. But even in those days, it had started. Wake will no longer want to lag the other Marxists in their pursuits.
Truth is inconvenient, particularly if one is trying to establish sometji g contrary to that truth. The world today does not acknowledge a common or absolute truth. If something challenges what someone wants to believe, the thing to do is to get rid of that opposing truth.
The problem with this inconvienent truth is that it flows from the source of all things, the Lord. And it begins to look like a Psalm 2 situation pretty rapidly. Those in opposition will do well to take Psalm 2's advice...
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, when his wrath shall suddenly burn. Blessed are all that trust in him. - Psalm 2:12
Bradford's famous diary, "Of Plimouth Planation," is titled what it is.
Having been there maybe twenty years ago, there is an effort to celebrate both the native people and the Non-conformists. Makes sense. If one actually reads Bradford's work, he will find that the "Pilgrims" were good friends and allies of the peoples that they encountered as long as they were met in peace. These are not Spanish colonies here...the Non-conformists were scared of them too. They discussed going to South America but the fear of the Spanish kept them in English claims.
Cultural Revolution 2.0 continues. This is not the first report of this kind of demands on Christians.
Amen, Brothers Frank and John UK. There is a battle for China right now. If the reports are correct, scores of people in the PRC have come to faith in Christ. The CCP sees this as a major competitor. Like the Roman emperiors, they will not accept any challenge to absolute loyalty. But the Lord has turned that kind of pride upside down on the prideful before, and my prayer is that He does so again for the sake of His church.
Whether or not church services as "essential," Jim, is not a question of politics but the Lord's decree. Moses told Pharoah that the Israelites had to go into the desert to worship the True and Living God. Pharoah would not.let them go. Everyone knows what ultimately happened to the Lord's glory and as a witness to the surrounding people so that the fear of the Israelites and their God went far and wide.
Amen, Doc Tim, and thanks for the reminders of history. Few things get me as upset as meeting black men who served during Vietnam. Not only were they disparaged for their service, they were also mistreated as men of color. This nation does not deserve their sacrifice, IMO.
But at the same time, I have nothing to give them of the Estates of my forebearers. What the War didn't destroy, back taxes did. My grandfather was born in rural NC in 1890. At that point, he explained, everyone was poor and it didn't matter your skin color.
Frank, I appreciate your honesty in addressing the President & have to agree. At best, he is a mixed bag. I do appreciate some of the decisions he has made. His behaviors...not so much.
Hey Yo, I'm with you as a Calvinist but looking for something more than what the OPC or PCA have become. There are not a lot of alternatives out there and it depends on the individual church. The PCA is rooted in the South and has been attempting to address racial reconciliation for some time. The OP came out of the Modernist-Fundamentalist debate but landed not quite so fundamentalist; and about half of the PCA did too thru a round about way. I appreciate our Baptist brethren as they sometimes display better discernment when addressing the world. Have you considered a Reformed Baptist church? We've received many recommendations to seek one out. They are few and far between in our neck of the woods.
Amen, J4J. It reminds me of when Christain was attacked by Appolyon in the Valley of Humility in Bunyan's "Pilgrims Progress." Appolyon's argument was that Christian was one of his subjects and would not let him go without a fight.
Relationships with the body of Christ are an important aspect. It could be that the disconnection from those relationships has kept attenders away. But Sunday worship isn't as much about those relationships as it is about our relationship with the Head of the Body, the Lord Jesus. Plenty of quality churches broadcast thru SA to choose from.
Is there a problem with Newsome lack of relation win the faith community or with the Lord Jesus? I'd say the latter leads to a problem with the former.
California would very much like to end Biblical Christianity within its borders. Perhaps it's time that the US ended California within our borders. Either respect and uphold the Constitution or leave the Union.
Reparations don't fix the problem. There is no one left alive who was involved in slavery or colonialism here in what is now the US. There are no victims of that era remaining. I myself am four generations separated from those who were adults in the 1860s when slavery ended.
There is a perception that people of color have not had the same opportunities despite how many years of equal opportunity protections? Perhaps it is time to point out the Progressives who have limited achievement through the tyrrany of low expectations, fatherlessness, and drug abuse that has plagued our inner cities.
As Christians, we have an clear mandate to treat our neighbors well. If we treat our n3ighbors well with respect and dignity as joint image bears of the Lord (Genesis 9), we can be part of a positive difference in this culture of racial tensions.
Therefore we faint not, but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed daily. For our light affliction which is but for a moment, causeth unto us a far most excellent and an eternal weight of glory: While we look not on the things which are seen, but on the things which are not seen for the things which are seen, are temporal: but the things which are not seen, are eternal. - 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
