I have no problem with you throwing into the discussion. I will say this about Sampson, if you look at the pattern of his life it was a pattern of disregard. Disregard to God's laws, disregard to his parents rules... Sampson did what Sampson wanted to do. The fact is, God used that, just like he uses many other things to elicit a specific chain of events. Based on most of Samsons previous statements, as well as his final statement, I do not see him as suddenly turning to God with a "Oh hey, let me kill these people for you Lord." His final statement and was very specific…"...strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes..." (Judges 16:28)
I believe that Sampson had great faith, but I also believe that Sampson had a great flash, and gave himself over to it way too often… Including this final act which was out of anger. |
