I think they missed adding the qualifiers in the headine, "IN England and Wales" because I am not sure this is true in the USA. It would matter to me if we were having a huge influx of immigrants coming from England and Wales..I can just imagine their boats arriving, like the ones those Africans used that arrived along the East Coast a while back, and their illegal flights landing at old, abandoned airstrips in New England states. They could mix in so easily with the 'natives' except maybe in Portland, Maine, where they are dealing with a huge influx of African immigrants, so bad that the 'native poor folk' are complaining there is no money for them (true, but that has something to do with too much of a good thing, and with the Internet, it is easy to get the word out that Portland is the place to go if you want to live off of govt aid). So I consider England, Wales a complete loss. |

Perhaps the best answer to this is for Christians to live their lives in accordance with the Bible. The secular world, just as the world of New Testament times with the Romans doing many immoral things, is very different. The problem for many Christians in the US is that they think they need to stand up for their country as if it were their church. (Note, you don't see that stance in any other country) Just look at I Timothy 5 as an example of what the Bible says just one sector of society, the Older Christian Woman, should live like, it gives clear instructions. If she is younger, she should marry again, and if older, either her family should take care of her, or the church (be put on the list), provided she has met certain 'work requirements.' By the way, James also talks about 'real religion' involves 'taking care of the widows in their distress' and Isaiah 1:17 tells us to 'plead the cause of the widow.' In the same way, the Bible is full of good advice for the church, for the family, and the individual. If we concentrate on them, we will have little time to worry about secular matters like whether a Christian can have a career selling videos about animated vegetables. |

Yes, Japan is a hard nut to crack. There are very few Christians there. The Catholics sent missionaries from Mexico (in Cuernavaca's Cathedral, there is a mural about them), converted some, but then they went 'underground' and I think I saw a TV program or movie some famous Hollywood director (Coppola? Scorsese?) made about these 'hidden Catholics.' The loss of 3 million people in WW2 acts like a 'setback' for any population growth, just like the millions aborted in the US since Roe vs Wade has affected Social Security, federal taxes, etc. Japan reminds me of the Shaker sect, very smart people, good furniture makers, but missing out on the basic Facts of Life. All of this brings us back to what is the function of the church, as related by Paul in his first letter to Timothy, chapter 5, where he talks about the care of widows. Most churches might skip this as just a cultural point that they set aside. I think it demonstrates God's Will for Older Women. First, they are married and are part of a family. When their husband dies, they should be taken care of by that family. If that family cannot do it, then they must meet certain 'work requirements' before the church provides aid. It sounds harsh, but there it is. Paul calls it, 'before they are put on the list' |

Thanks for the clarity in the headline; otherwise, it would be "One in Four Babies are Aborted" and cause many people to wonder, what is going on in the USA? Of course, I wonder why we bother with any news from the UK. Do we have thousands of immigrants flooding into the US from boats arriving from the UK, or planes secretly entering our airspace and landing in northern states or Canada and sneaking across our border? Better to focus in on Central America or Mexico or even Canada. I think the World Almanac says Canada is the main country where US residents move to when they leave the US, and the Social Security office reports that they send thousands of checks to Canada. As to Christianity in the UK, well, that's a lost cause, a minority case when so many of the buildings formerly used for church activities are being turned into mosques, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, or private residences. |
