Computer games are being used by 'seasoned citizens' in a study by the University of Miami. A friend who took part in phase one said that they use various simulations on the computer, like using an ATM, doing online shopping, online banking, ordering a ticket for a transit system (in some cities you have to use that system, cash is not accepted). And they haven't touched on other situations like check-in at the airport, ordering a video at those red box machines.
Check out the BrainHQ.com site for more info and to try out some free games.

Vivaldi is another browser that does not collect all the data that Chrome does.
And I have noticed with Firefox searches, it says, 'powered by Google' so you are not escaping Google there.

I have heard on the news there has been a spike of stabbings in London. What is needed is more knife-control; people need to be registered to use a knife before they chop up that vegetable.

I've never heard of David French except from a commentary by the Z-Man blog on his adoption of a child from Russia. That move was all about 'virtue-signalling' and a ridiculous move, if you just think of costs. If French really wanted to help the world, why not find a child in his own neck of the woods, because thousands are in foster care in every state, waiting to be adopted. Check the little house above this post to find the Zman blog.

I've heard one city stopped issuing tickets but still uses the cameras to 'patrol' the areas to be able to send police to the site when needed.
Of course, this city is not Philadelphia, that great City of Brotherly Love where the residents have such a great love of the police.

I think they missed adding the qualifiers in the headine, "IN England and Wales" because I am not sure this is true in the USA.
It would matter to me if we were having a huge influx of immigrants coming from England and Wales..I can just imagine their boats arriving, like the ones those Africans used that arrived along the East Coast a while back, and their illegal flights landing at old, abandoned airstrips in New England states. They could mix in so easily with the 'natives' except maybe in Portland, Maine, where they are dealing with a huge influx of African immigrants, so bad that the 'native poor folk' are complaining there is no money for them (true, but that has something to do with too much of a good thing, and with the Internet, it is easy to get the word out that Portland is the place to go if you want to live off of govt aid).
So I consider England, Wales a complete loss.

I think the President's previous comments about certain countries being 's--hole countries' have now come to apply to American cities!
Of course, if you look at Chicago, Detroit, or Baltimore, people are killing each other faster than it takes them to take a...well, you know what.

Stunned by the facts of the matter-that abortion kills babies? Doesn't everyone know this? Yes, but they can put it away from their mind when they immediately hear the 'other side' say 'women's right to choose' 'women's right to choose' or something similar.

Perhaps the best answer to this is for Christians to live their lives in accordance with the Bible. The secular world, just as the world of New Testament times with the Romans doing many immoral things, is very different. The problem for many Christians in the US is that they think they need to stand up for their country as if it were their church.
(Note, you don't see that stance in any other country)
Just look at I Timothy 5 as an example of what the Bible says just one sector of society, the Older Christian Woman, should live like, it gives clear instructions. If she is younger, she should marry again, and if older, either her family should take care of her, or the church (be put on the list), provided she has met certain 'work requirements.'
By the way, James also talks about 'real religion' involves 'taking care of the widows in their distress' and Isaiah 1:17 tells us to 'plead the cause of the widow.'
In the same way, the Bible is full of good advice for the church, for the family, and the individual. If we concentrate on them, we will have little time to worry about secular matters like whether a Christian can have a career selling videos about animated vegetables.

Very sad news about immorality among people who call themselves Christian. Are they really? Will they be like the guy in the news item who lost his faith?
And again, this story reminds everyone of the importance of the church in the family. Looking at the world with our Bible glasses, we see how I Timothy 5 applies to this. It deals mostly with widows, or as we could call it, "God's Plan for the Senior Christian Woman."
First it calls for families to take care of their widows, and for younger widows to marry again. It says the church can only aid widows that have met certain 'work requirements' like good works and 'washing the feet of the saints.'
As you can see, the church has a lot to do with families, because the family is God's plan for our lives.

Thanks for your input, "youth in asia"
I was wondering what you thought of the Japanese problem--how they are going extinct! Every year there are less and less of them around.

That sounds nice, but in reality, the crisis has been very easy to predict, ever since the lease the British had on the land expired. Anyone who watches movies would have noticed many Jackie Chan movies come out a few years ago, caused by his seeing this end and leaving. Also, anyone selling real estate in large cities along the West Coast would have seen this coming, and the flood of Hong Kong monies leaving.
But, the Real Bottom Line is that China now has developed other cities so they do not need the capital markets of Hong Kong.

Yes, Japan is a hard nut to crack. There are very few Christians there. The Catholics sent missionaries from Mexico (in Cuernavaca's Cathedral, there is a mural about them), converted some, but then they went 'underground' and I think I saw a TV program or movie some famous Hollywood director (Coppola? Scorsese?) made about these 'hidden Catholics.'
The loss of 3 million people in WW2 acts like a 'setback' for any population growth, just like the millions aborted in the US since Roe vs Wade has affected Social Security, federal taxes, etc.
Japan reminds me of the Shaker sect, very smart people, good furniture makers, but missing out on the basic Facts of Life.
All of this brings us back to what is the function of the church, as related by Paul in his first letter to Timothy, chapter 5, where he talks about the care of widows. Most churches might skip this as just a cultural point that they set aside. I think it demonstrates God's Will for Older Women. First, they are married and are part of a family. When their husband dies, they should be taken care of by that family. If that family cannot do it, then they must meet certain 'work requirements' before the church provides aid. It sounds harsh, but there it is. Paul calls it, 'before they are put on the list'

Thanks for the clarity in the headline; otherwise, it would be "One in Four Babies are Aborted" and cause many people to wonder, what is going on in the USA?
Of course, I wonder why we bother with any news from the UK. Do we have thousands of immigrants flooding into the US from boats arriving from the UK, or planes secretly entering our airspace and landing in northern states or Canada and sneaking across our border?
Better to focus in on Central America or Mexico or even Canada. I think the World Almanac says Canada is the main country where US residents move to when they leave the US, and the Social Security office reports that they send thousands of checks to Canada.
As to Christianity in the UK, well, that's a lost cause, a minority case when so many of the buildings formerly used for church activities are being turned into mosques, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, or private residences.

Another misleading headline. It should be titled, "In the UK,...." since few people in the UK are evangelical Christians who read this blog, and few churches in the UK are broadcasters here.
Maybe we should search the Jerusalem Post to find news articles there about life in Israel; at least, a few dispensationalists here would find them interesting.

Very ironic news! After losing more than 3 million people from World War 2, the end of which they are commemorating today August 15, you think they would be smart enough to know that a Major Policy Change would have to be enacted--to repopulate the country. Russia has noticed this and started giving more $$ to larger families. In Japan, they have many issues, but the bottom line is that each year there are less Japanese alive. Soon, they will get to the point where none of the women will be young enough to bear children.

Yes, "True.." it does make you wonder what do people mean when they say they are 'losing their faith'
Did they ever have 'faith'? Or did they always have a belief in themselves that finally rose up and threw off their religious wrappings?
Remember the woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment when he was passing by?
He did not command her to get well, he did nothing, but her faith healed her!
And remember the Roman centurion who told Jesus it was not necessary for him to go to his house to heal his servant? He had faith that Jesus had power over sickness, just as he had power over the 100 guys underneath him in the army. Jesus marveled at his 'faith' and said he had not found such 'faith' as this (uncircumcised, unclean, pagan)Roman had anywhere else. I wonder what the Pharisees thought of that!
And remember that Jesus, yes Jesus Christ himself, Son of God, could NOT do any miracles in his own hometown due to the people's Lack of Faith!
