Early on in his evil reign he quickly suppressed all religious youth and cultural organisations, in favour of the Hitler Youth for boys and the League of German Girls, (I can’t recall the exact name) for girls, banned all organised church activities outside the church building, and then cooked up a scheme with compromising Roman Catholic and Protestant clergymen, to bring the church completely under his control.

The Roman Catholic hierarchy largely supported him, with some notable exceptions, and the Protestant churches were more or less amalgamated under a single Reichs Bishop, as the German Protestant Church. A few Lutherans did refuse to cooperate, and paid the penalty.

The churches, Catholic and Protestant, hung swastikas inside and outside the building, observed Nazi state holidays, read out speeches from Hitler and his associates, and preached previously written and state approved sermons, using a “religious” monthly magazine printed by the Nazi state.

Yes, I can partly agree that much of what goes under the name of “evangelical” indeed is apostate or is fast going that way, but there ialways will be a true and faithful remnant.

With the power of prayer also, things can sometimes be reversed.

When Dr Peter Masters, a fairly young pastor came as newly appointed senior pastor to Metropolitan Tabernacle in London (C H Spurgeon’s church) in the late 1970’s, it was dying on its feet, with a few elderly “parishioners” in its huge building, a previous ecumenical pastor had joined it again to the very Baptist Union that Spurgeon had taken it out of in the Downgrade Controversy and doctrinally it was rather weak.

Within a few years, he had completely turned it round, got out of the Baptist Union, and established it as the foremost Reformed Baptist Church in the country, non-ecumenical, solid preaching, teaching and traditional congregational worship only, and the huge auditorium is packed every Sunday, and its theological seminary and annual School of Theology has had a tremendous influence.

However, the reputation of Harold Camping, and his date setting did get over here, and this amongst some other things is why the end times and the 2nd Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is not preached about very much in British evangelical pulpits, or if it is, it is all allegorised and spiritualised.

When you get however to Northern Nigeria, the Islamic fundamentalist majority part of Nigeria, where the official states have sharia law, and the unofficial Boko Haram and Fulani herdsman carry out their terrorist outrages against the local Christians, with virtually no interference from either state or federal police or troops, (and sometimes even with the tacit cooperation of the local authorities), these “prosperity churches” and health / wealth groups somehow are rather thin on the ground, and it appears that the majority of the evangelical churches seem to be really Bible based, strongly doctrinal, and very non-compromising.

Ironically, it was the very ancestors of these Saudi Arabians who assisted the British, under the famous maverick soldier Laurence of Arabia, in the First World War, between 1914 and 1918, to completely destroy the predecessor of this railway, known as the Hejaz Railway, in several guerrilla operations, against the Ottoman Imperial Turks who ruled what became Saudi Arabia at that time.

Some other major cities are also very good, but the country services in Britain are very poor, and trains and buses are very infrequent and expensive.

However, shockingly, far from from making a stand like these brave Chinese pastors and church leaders, our so-called evangelical pastors, church leaders and congregations here in the West, are lining up like ninepins to fall in with the political correctness of the day.

Sermons are self-censored to remove any idea of the 2nd Coming of the Lord, God’s righteousness, the solid doctrines of the Uniqueness and Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, Hell and judgment, holiness, the sufficiency of scripture, and so on.

Practicing LGBTQ and Transgender people are now to be accepted as full members, and even leaders of the church. A subtle and often not so subtle Universalism is being preached along with environmentalism, dialogue with other faiths, “social justice” aka “the social gospel”, combined with contemplative prayer, “Christian yoga”, and suchlike practices.

This is combined with rock style CCM, entertainment, sugary motivational messages, pragmatism, doctrine denying modern Bibles and so on.

Here we do not have churches being raided and even demolished, or thrown out of rented buildings because landlords are being pressurised by state authorities, crosses taken down by state order, pastors and church elders and even ordinary members being harassed, discriminated against, and forbidden even to travel due to low “social credit” as decided by the government.

We do not have Sunday schools being forcibly closed down, youth camps raided by police, Bibles and hymn books being seized and burnt by the authorities. We do not have the Internet being censored by the government, Bibles and books are freely available for sale and distribution, and services can be streamed live.

Such perversities are common these days. In Trafalgar Square in the heart of London, some of the pedestrian traffic lights do not show the expected red or green man, but red or green male / male, female / female and male / female symbol signs.

Likely as not his “new friends” in the LGBT and Transgender community, and the medical and legal professionals and activists whom no doubt are making money out of him are buoying him up, and using him for their own nefarious purposes.

Many years ago, when the Soviet Union, the USSR, was at its height, we had a very similar scandal, which was reported by some media outlets, but totally ignored by the authorities, until it was too late.

Some bright young men in the 1950’s and early 1960’s, I think it was, were recruited by Soviet agents while they were still at Cambridge University I think. One of them at least was homosexual, which was illegal at that time, and gave the Soviet agents a pressure handle if necessary.

I forget the names of all of them, except that one was surnamed Burgess, and another one eventually became the Art Adviser to the Queen. This last one was only unmasked posthumously, after his death. The other two went on to hold top jobs in the British Civil Service, and the Intelligence establishment, and were responsible for handing over hundreds of secrets to the Soviets, and also recruiting other people to be Soviet agents as well.
