Jim,
Thanks for that link to the article!

John Yurich,
Back in the 80's I was heavily involved in a church that employed altar calls when I came across a booklet by Iain Murray "The Invitation System" printed by Banner Of Truth Trust. I would highly suggest you read it and think about what he says. He confirmed many things I was troubled about concerning this system of evangelism which was popularized by Charles Finney and then Billy Graham. Not all Baptist nor evangelical churches follow this method and one of the dangers of this system is the churning out of false converts who are convinced they are saved because they went forward in a service and made a profession. Remember what Jesus will say in that day to many, "I never knew you." Examine yourself whether you are in the faith. Make your calling and election sure. Don't trust your salvation to man-made methods! Trust in the LORD!!!

John UK,
I was in no way denying the Lord can heal physical infirmities, but the verses surrounding that much-abused verse that I referred to speak of Him being "bruised for our iniquities" and nowhere in that passage does it speak of physical healing. It is referring to SIN. Can the LORD OF ALL LIFE apply His Word as He sees fit as in the verse in Matthew you cited? CERTAINLY! But that is not the same as the way charismatics such as Benny Hinn claim healing with that verse, "wearing" it as a talisman.

In the old testament it was required that there be two or three witnesses before a judgment could be rendered. No single verse of scripture stands alone, but should be seen in the context of the verses which preceed and follow it as well as the larger context of the whole of scripture. An example of misinterpretation based on not simply a single verse, but a partial verse, is the oft-quoted, "by his stripes you are healed." If read in context, it is obviously talking about spiritual healing, NOT physical.

penned,
I was in no way suggesting that the Republicans are without fault. I was merely expressing my observation based on his previous posts that have never to my knowledge admitted to the horrendous record of the current administration, but instead deflects attention away from it by bringing up others who are no longer in office. I do not hold to a partisan position based on party loyalties. I believe that is destructive to the Republic and is one of the big problems with the electorate as well as elected officials. That is why we see so little change in Washington's policy decisions regardless of which major party is in office. I believe in holding all government employees accountable to their oath of office which is fidelity to the Constitution, not to a particular party or individual.

John for JESUS,
Don't expect Jim to ever deal honestly with the travesty that is the Impostor from Kenya's presidency. All he cares to do is mock Republicans and blame them for everything. He apparantly reads off the same telepromptor as his idol in the White House.

Jim really should not repeat such liberal heresy and propaganda: "a judge who also ignored the Constitution." Judge Roy Moore was fully within the law of the State of Alabama as well as the U.S. Constitution. The well-worn phrase "separation of church and state" is constantly used by atheists and liberals to promote a distortion of history as to the intended meaning of the 1st Amendment. We need more godly judges like Roy Moore!

Is that the same "Christian faith" that allows Miley Cyrus to run around on stage practically naked while claiming to be a Christian?

Sermon:
The Atonement of Christ Debate
Joseph A. Pipa Jr.

“ Great Sermon! ”
I saw the video version of this debate years ago and I have to say that Joey Pipa blew Dave Hunt out of the water! As was said by another commentor on part 2 of this debate here on SermonAudio, It was a "Slam Dunk for Dr. Pipa." Pipa's arguments seem to come from an exegetical approach to Scripture while Dave's seem driven by emotion and maudlin sentimentalism.

Jim, I can't speak for the situation in Nebraska, but as someone who lives in Texas, born in Austin, I think I am able to say from my first-hand experience that the average person will have no problem with the English, even those born south of the border. While it is true that not all immigrants (especially illegal aliens) assimulate into the American culture and some are slow to learn English, this is only a small minority. Most immigrants learn English because it is essential in order to do business, live, work, etc. And even those illegals who don't know much English, their children and grandchildren are usually bilingual, so your concerns are largely unfounded. And even some of us bolillo gringos can habla espanol. My nextdoor neighbor is hispanic, many other families on my street are hispanic, and the lady who cuts my hair is hispanic. We have no problemo communicating (mostly in English).

Pat Robertson, as was said previously, has fallen for the lie just as Ankerberg, Ross, & company. These guys like to think of themselves as Biblical scholars, but I would venture to say that Ussher had more learning and Biblical scholarship than all of them put together. As was also previously said, if you don't believe Genesis as written, you might as well disbelieve the rest of God's Word. God doesn't give us the option to pick and choose. I think Pat Robertson is turning into one of those "geological formations." He needs to put his faith on the Solid Rock and reject the sinking sands of human reasoning. Soli Deo Gloria!!!

As someone of Scottish descent, I really hate to hear this, but it is the way most western countries are going. As the first commentor said, God has given up Scotland (and America, England, etc.) to their lusts. This is God's judgment on a nation and a people that forget God. Of course, this is NOT about rights, since rights come from God and He never gives anyone the right to commit evil. John Knox would be appalled!

In other words, Al Gore, like Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, is an elitist racist who wants to sterilize blacks so that they cannot reproduce. This is the expected outcome of Charles Darwin's view that non-whites are inferior. If only minorities and liberal whites could see the real legacy of abortion promoters and the theory(LIE) of evolution, they would not be so quick to extol the so-called virtues of choice. Ozone Al would not be taken seriously and would only be a danger to himself if it was not for the fact that some people in powerful places believe his nonsense.

Anyone who compares The New American magazine to the National Enquirer and says the latter is better obviously is the real "wacko bird". Why can't you admit the truth? The impostor from Kenya is a bigger liar than slick Willie ever was and just as criminal, if not more so. He should've been impeached in his first term, rather than re-elected to do more damage to the Republic. He is a godless socialist, an elitist, and an arrogant a__. His whole agenda has been to promote wickedness, child killing, and support sexual perversion. How can any true Christian support such a person?

I wonder if Satan was a Democrat if Jim would still bring up Republicans who have been out of office for 5 years in order to shift the blame from the current administration. Oh, wait a minute, I think Satan is a Democrat. That's why they were booing God at the Democrat Convention. Even some Democrats are starting to wake up to the unconstitutional and antichrist nature of the impostor from Kenya, but I think it may take another 5 years before some are willing to admit that this is the WORST president in U.S. history!

SteveR and Stevenr,
I think you are both right. Christopher shouldn't repair the rosary because he obviously has a check in his spirit about doing so and it would encourage her to continue an idolatrous practice. I should have seen that before I offered my thought, but I do think this would be a great opportunity for him to witness regarding the faith once delivered to the saints and discuss with her what constitutes effectual prayer as opposed to vain repetitious prayer warned about by our LORD.

AMEN, Randy and Stevenr. This kind of stuff goes on way to much. Too many want to continuously argue their pet doctrines rather than comment on the story at hand. And the personal attacks certainly don't exhibit the love for one another which Christ said would characterize His disciples.

John Yurich, I think it is commendable that you have control over sexual lust. That is not an easy task in our sex-saturated culture, but as someone else stated, it is possible according to Scripture. As for the nun, being in an institution that requires chastity and forbids marriage for someone in her situation, it was probably more than she could bear. God does not give everyone the gift of singleness and that is why Biblical Christianity allows marriage even for those in full-time ministry. The position of the Church of Rome is unscriptural and has probably led to more sexual failures than it has prevented. "It is better to marry than to burn."

Christopher000, I would never want to encourage someone to continue in what is a vain and superstitious practice, but you could look on the repair of the rosary as an act of kindness and an opportunity for witness. Just a thought.
