Not your pope wrote: ....1,000,000 devout Catholics at daily Mass who hear the Bible read cover-to-cover (all 73 books) every 3 years... I used to think the same thing - that the WHOLE bible was read to us if we went to mass seven days a week for three years - sadly - I was wrong (and sorry to say, you are too.)If you look at the readings over a given week - like this week for example you will see some of the readings do not include all of the verses. Today in the responsorial psalm they omit verse 4 and part of verse 5 that says: "he is to be feared above all gods. Psa 96:5 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens. Ps 96:1-2a, 2b-3, 5b-6 Odd how they omit something like that isn't it? The Gospel reading for this friday is Luke 2:22,39-40. If they skip verses 23-38 they do not make them up in another reading later on in the cycle - you just "miss it". The content of the missed verses is most interesting - Luk 2:24 - Mary, a sinner, offered a sin offering according to the law. ]]You are missing a lot of the Bible in Mass At best you get around 72% of the NT and much less of the OT - around 14% (not counting psalms) |

Fr. Michael Denk wrote: Read Matthew 19:11-12 And http://www.ewtn.com/library/papaldoc/jp2tb80.htm Mr. Denk - 1Co 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. To TPK - The answer is obvious - the schools, the women, the churches that bring them in - they are in error. Untold numbers won't ever make something right when God says its wrong or simply gives us the way something should be. Case in point - To obey is better than sacrifice. 1Sa 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 1Sa 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Just ask the RCC - they boast over a billion adherents and they are still wrong. According to 1Sam they are in rebellion - God compares this to witchcraft and being stubborn to idolatry. |

DYL wrote: Tra·di·tion (tr?-d?sh??n) n. 1. The passing down of elements of a culture from generation to generation, especially by oral communication. Thus isn't a person listening to a sermon (e.g., SA) in 100 years is hearing a tradition -- a tradition of a man. When Sola Scriptura teaches that it's by Scripture Alone, if one adds even a jot or tittle even via a sermon hasn't he violated this doctrine upon which the Church stands or falls? You might want to use the Websters 1800's dictionary: Tradition TRADI'TION, n. [L. traditio, from trado, to deliver.]3. That which is handed down from age to age by oral communication. The Jews pay great regard to tradition in matters of religion, as do the Romanists. Protestants reject the authority of tradition in sacred things, and rely only on the written word. Traditions may be good or bad, true or false. Stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word or our epistle. 2 Th 2. Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your traditions? Mat 15. You are right Street-Preacher - I am a Catholic - just not the Roman Papist variety. |
