1] Then why did you ask such a ridiculous question? You obviously did not know the answer!

2] What?!! Can't bring yourself to believe the promise from the immediate context of Acts 2

3] Christ was circumcised as a baby. If circumcision and baptism are exact equivalents, why do you suppose he needed to be baptised as an adult?

1] If you try using an intelligent reading of these debates you may manage to find that the question was following my discussion with John.

2] God's Covenant of Grace is actually important in Scripture and to His elect children.

3] Simple! Christ changed the sign and seal of His Covenant with His people.
Previously it was circumcision. Christ changed the OT sign to Baptism.

a) Frenchie
b) A Christian denomination
Really John. Is this the best you can offer.

On denomination. If you can't understand why and where it emerged from
Why are you not a Papist? and
Why did the Baptist denom form itself on the basis of ONE sacrament?

1] Read 1 John. You might get a real challenge to your own profession of faith! By their fruits ye shall know them!

2] But the promise is "..Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost". Ever known a baby as a baby to repent?

1] I have read the entire Bible several times. It is the reason why I am a Calvinist and a Presbyterian. The Holy Spirit has guided me into the whole counsel of God by Grace.

2] The promise is the same promise throughout Scripture. It is the Covenant of Grace.

1] You want to baptise children of believers? Then how do you tell between true believers and false professors???????

2] And YOU reckon that a good Baptist or anabaptist cannot discern the difference between a worldling and a saint?

1] Question for you John. "How do you tell between the true and false believer in the Baptist church? I Know! Perhaps you ask them. Then get them to make a profession! Yes?

Well we baptise the children of "believers" - WHO, guess what, have made a profession and have been accepted members of our church, perhaps for years. Now are you implying that our parents are all liars?

# GOD'S Promise *IS* to Christians *AND* their children. God has declared so!
Please try and TRUST GOD, John. Just this once.

2] Try reading Matt 7:21-23. Or Rev 3:14-22. This will help may you grasp the simple truth that many call Christ "Lord, Lord" but certainly are NOT Elect.

1] Mar 1:10 And straightway coming up out of the water
Yes, it doesn't say how much water was used but how do you come out of water if you are sprinkled, washed, poured or dipped?

2] Why does the Covenant Presby. churches allow women to be ordained as pastors?

3] If your denom follows the whole counsel of God, then why doesn't it practice the doctrine of separation?

4] Why do you deny that the Holy Spirit convicts and leads an unregenerate, totally depraved sinner to conviction, salvation, faith and baptism?

1] If the pool of water used was only ankle deep then he could still say "straightway coming up out of the water" = This is NOT a proof of depth!

2] My Church is the FPC we do not allow women to break the rule of God at Gen 3:16, 1Tim 2:12.
On this subject do you believe 'every' Baptist church is precisely and correctly following Scripture?

3] "Free" Presbyterian Church.

4] Without the Holy Spirit working faith in our heart we are not Christians, and still in our natural estate. And we are certainly not in Covenant with God!

May I invite you to have a look at this article ]]Of Dipping Simply in curiosity as to where I'm coming from.

make up fairy stories about imaginary covenants.
Oh I see John;
According to YOUR denomination teaching God didn't make any Covenant with His people???? Hove you deleted the word "covenant" from your Bible then???

From a derivative of G911; to make whelmed (that is, fully wet); used only (in the New Testament) of ceremonial ablution
Hidemi;
Surely you have realised by now, that if you quote the Baptist theologian and translator - All I will do is quote the different results we get from Presbyterian theologians lexicons translators etc etc.

There is zero in Scripture to denote actually quantity of water applied in baptism. thats ZERO!!!
Baptists however require sufficient to submerge the entire body. This conclusion is not obtained from Scripture.

The term baptizw βαπτιζω/βαπτω in koine Greek is applied to sprinkle, pour, wash and dip or immerse. Your denom has decided it has only one meaning. The Greeks had other ideas about it.
