Very Interesting! As a non-American interested in this topic, this message is one I have found most valuable.
Thank you, Mr Weaver, particularly for the points made on the difference in theology between a largely Unitarian North and the "Bible Belt" South. The implication being well that there is far more to this gigantic struggle than is commonly taught.
Hope this message will be widely heard by any interested in American history and its implications for that society today.
Great Sermon! Thank you, Rev Brown, for this word on the most excellent text of Romans 8 v 31. In times of plenty and in times of tribulation, this word from God has stood sure and steadfast in my small life even as it did for the giants of the faith such as that gentle man Philip Melanchthon and the others you mention.
Praise Him who is faithful above all. Amen.
Lance Attached is a message from Rev Ian Brown clearly showing the glaring dichotomy between RC dogma and the teaching of the Bible. The interesting thing is this sermon quotes extensively from an RC Bible.
The Plain Truth This sermon raises the Lord Jesus to the rightful place of pre-eminence. As one that He has saved from Roman Catholicism, I can say that Rev Brown's message will be helpful to any in that system who may be baffled by its many inconsistencies. The use of the RC Bible shows that RC church dogma stands in glaring opposition to God's plain and obvious word.
Great Sermon! An excellent and timely reminder of God's gracious and sure provision to His children, especially to those like my wife and I whom He has saved from the darkness of Rome. As we witness the preaching of vague and unbiblical mishmash in many of the western churches, which profits none of their hearers, this message and mini-series serves as a balm to the soul. May the Lord use this word to His glory and the saving of souls out of Satan's grip.
A Clear Word This preacher here gives a full explanation from God's infallible Word on the meaning of "tongues". Many today are taken up with the meaningless babble of charismatic assemblies behind which is a spirit of confusion. Dear listener, if you know any such, this message will be one to send to them that not only clarifies and edifies, but also gives glory to God.
John Yurich wrote: You have got some nerve stating that I am lost. Are you able to see into my heart like Christ can to state categorically that I am lost? I have stated here on numerous occasions that I received Jesus as my Savior and Lord during an Altar Call at my brother's Non Denominational Church. But of course you and the rest of the Evangelical/Fundamentalist Protestants on here believe that unless someone who has received Jesus as their Savior joins a Evangelical/Fundamentalist Protestant Church that they are not saved. Why do you guys believe that Born Again Christians must leave the Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church and Mainline Protestant Churches and join some type of Fundamentalist Protestant Church?
Praise The Glory Of His Grace Friend, are you saved? This message will provide you great material for reflection on the unsearcheable riches of God's grace. This is not a message that makes God's purposes conformable to or even explicable by human reason, yet it gives expression to that great love wherewith He loves us.
This scholarly preacher's exposition of the adoption of sinful man by a thrice holy God contradicts proud humanistic theories, causing the listener to be not highminded, but fear There is great cause here to give the glory where it belongs, to God and to praise the glory of His grace.
Great Sermon! Rev Brown's sermon asks the listener the question -- which has the Lord put in your heart, devotion to a decaying corpse or to the Living Saviour?
I hope this and others in the series will be heard by many and the Lord would draw them from the blasphemies of Rome unto Himself.

MurrayA In a visit to these columns (aka "The Bear Pit"), I came across your recommendations to Preacher. Being somewhat familiar with several, I have ordered the others and would like to post a brief word of thanks to you for these recomends; and the same for your posts refuting the Arminian/Dispy fantasy so beloved in the land of CI Scofield, CG Finney, Billy Graham, Benny Hinn et al. Am I alone in thinking that trying to order a book from Amazon is akin to attempting to hack into the CIA?
A Word Of Warning A word of warning to those who show partiality in terms of worldly possessions or attributes is well given here by Mr Hamilton. How foolish when God "hath chosen us" not because of our attributes but despite them. Well worth hearing and meditating on by all who claim Christ.
As a small aside, I'm glad to hear Mr Hamilton rightly ascribe the authorship of Hebrews to Paul.
Christ Is Life An inspirational message from Mr Greer on the nature of life. How far broader is the scope of the biblical view compared to that of the materialist! This sermon is packed with reasons for the saved to glorify God and to meditate yet further on points the preacher raises. It is also an excellent one to send to those who are yet without Christ, who is the Way, Truth and Life. May the Lord bless the outreach in Cullybacky for His glory.
A Debtor to Mercy Alone As one who in years gone by wandered extensively in Bypath Meadow, I can attest to the veracity of these words about David as expounded by Mr Patterson. My only testimony is of how the LORD saved me, even despite a worldly lifestyle, and brought me out of it to Him whose name is great.
Perhaps, dear listener, you may know of someone who is backslidden and who would benefit from this message?
"and thous shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matthew 1 v 21.
A Witness To Sovereign Grace. Thank you, Rev Fitzpatrick, for this reading of the Confession of Patrick.I was principally reminded in this humble man's account of how it was that God saved him, how His mark was upon him. Surely a powerful rebuke to proud Arminians in this sad day, or even those who imagine that a church can save them. Thank you also for your ministry in the land of our fathers, so much needed.
America's seemingly unconditional love affair with secular Israel, based on the false system of dispensationalism, is the road to ruin in more ways than one for a once mighty nation. I for one am glad to see a reputable and respected American theologian (as opposed to the false prophets named in the preamble to this essay) speaking out on the biblical position, and I hope there will be many in the US with ears to hear.
This is a good point. The argument does appear viable from the viewpoint of humanistic reason. It seems very reasonable, plausible and tolerant. It is liberal and "multiculturalist". It will perhaps persuade those who may be invited to the vicar's tea party. It speaks volumes about the C of E and the direction it has been going in for the last half century at least.
Well, guys, it looks like the presidential race is all over bar the shouting.
We just heard on the news that Barrack Hussein Obama has been declared an Irishman (really...) from the ancient Tipperary O'Bama clan. It is fully expected that the Bishops of Boston will soon declare indulgences for all who vote for him, so youse in Americay will just have to get used to the idea.
A Cry For Mercy If you, like my wife and I, are concerned about our nation and our people in this dark and evil day, I urge you to hear this word and to forward it to all you know who are similarly concerned about the rampant godlessness in western nations today.
This message is about Great Britain but will apply to wherever you live. It is no accident that the man of whose legacy this is preached has become a Roman Catholic -- "by their fruits..."
Discerning Believer wrote: Michael, This is what Brother John Greer from Ballymena Free Presbyterian Church has posted on their site. http://www.ballymenafpc.org/ Scrol down to where it says: "How Long Have I to Live ?" It is very direct and to the point. There is no arm twisting, no high pressure sales gimmicks. I wouldn't mind using it in presenting the gospel myself. What do you think?
DB and any others interested in this excellent piece on the Ballymena FPC website --
It is available as a tract entitled "How Long Have I To Live" in the exact words you have read. I have a small stock of this and other tracts which I obtained from my local FPC. You should be able to do likewise. In case of difficulty, the tract is printed by -- Lifeline Publication 1600 Neilson Rd Scarborough Ontario Canada M1X 1S3
May the Lord bless your outreach to the lost, for His glory alone.
Solid, Encouraging Word For those in the midst of discouraging times and circumstances, here is a word on the encouragement of a Friend, even the greater Jonathan. For those who may be in the situation of offering comfort to the afflicted, here is a reminder that emotion won't cut it, but only the word of God to His children. Lots more to meditate on in this sermon and series.
