They are not seeking to silence christians because of their beliefs, they are trying to silence the truth, the God ordained truth about their existence, His commands, and what is required of them as created beings. Who cares what someone believes, it's subjective and fallible. God's,word is binding, authoritative, and when He speaks it is true and right because He said it, there is no other test it must pass.

I feel the caution for the reformed community lies in seeing so many false conversions and all the heresy going round that leads to false conversions, but of we follow our doctrine we must follow it all the way through; God's soverignty in salvation, and we should fasten on to hope in conversions as a result and not have a bitter sceptisism
What is wrong with christians and catholics getting together is very simple, A HOUSE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF CANNOT STAND. Anything else is way on down the list and when this alliance was they put,these secondary issues first. Why? I started to lament this stuff but I am starting to see how my heart is inclined to comfort. Persecution causes the true church to grow. I am weery of my stagnant life. And it really convicts me. Isa 66:18-22 is one on the most clear outlines of God's redemptive plan. Is my heart a part of this or is my ambition me and my comfort? Persecution will reveal that
I agree with you but he doesn't listen and so therefor he is not heeding the warnings of danger but rushing headlong. My point and I think you will agree is this; if he isn't willing to leave elementry things and go on to spiritual meat (he isn't drinking milk) but shouldn't we who affirm clear biblical doctrine? I am not entirely sure that this isn't a huge, huge deal. To worship directly the enemy of God, His true foe is significant. Understand to these people are desiring the basest evil and suffering upon their own heads! I mean seriously think about that. I view it to be the deepest of sadness to be so duped into wanting the most horrific evils to fall upon your own head. What else does the devil offer? And then to fall into the hands of God!
I am interested in your presentation. You take a clearly pragmatic situation, presented by a secularist (unsaved or anti christ defined by scripture) to prove the ineffectiveness of the reformed position to which you are clearly antagonistic to by saying "i agree"
Foundationally it is an unspoken rule the reformed position asks "does God have the right to speak and if so what does He say"? If that is the case and you agree, where is this position you have just presented, found in scripture where God speaks Matt 22:29-31.
I would also ad does anyone find any pastor they thoeoughly agree with on every issue? And when I am presented with that myself do I regard myself as the standard or should I consider an annoited man and that maybe I have something to learn from them?
I am sorry but you have inaccurately presented Dr MacArthur and his positions. Just this week I listened to 5 of his sermons that deal with the positions you just said he takes . Maybe you it would be wise to do your research thoroughly and allow the man himself to present his positions. Oh by the way when you sheppard a church for 40 years some will change ovee time. He is thoroughly reformed but I would say has become more convinced over time.
I do believe that some in the reformed camp take acception to pastors with big churches, they hold on too tightly to the notion the reformed tradition breeds small congregations. This may be true in some sense but it is not normative and is shameful considering those that do apply this to some would never apply it to say Spurgeon which is not consistant
One more note: Ken Silva of Apprising ministries snap shot his tweets regarding Strange Fire and you can read them. Driscoll was intentionally antagonistic and it really bothered me regarding the total lack of respect for Dr MacArthur, a man I fully believe to be annointed by God as a gift to this generation
Yes he was Jim. Pyromaniacs blog has the video. Driscoll claimed he was harrassed but the video shows he was intentionally stirring up controversy against Dr MacArthur and the staff was not confrontive like Driscoll claimed.
Driscoll runs his church with an iron fist. Wilkerson I believe may have been directly involved with the marketing controversy with Driscoll's Real Marriage book.
I bring this up to confront the notion Driscoll is reformed and should be lauded. We see him as part of Gospel Coalition and with Piper bur you need to dig deeper with this man. I believe he is a danger to the efficacy of the church and you need to thoroughly examine him before you bind yourself to him.
I think what I find so intriguing is I never see these modern parameters expressed in scripture. People look to what pleases themselves in a mate. Scripture teaches us to marry, carry out our duties to our spouses, have children and raise them to be a testimony to the world of God. I fall short in this because I have "needs". We need to grow up.
It is funny to me why so many post turn into RCC rants and why we even entertain the apostates.
I would address one thing Steve R said; regarding a re-baptism, I was baptized by an arminian apostate church when I became reformed and started going to a solid reformed church I learned the efficacy of the command as a grace of God and counsuled with them about getting baptised by them with a mature understanding of baptism.
