We should expect nothing less from Sir Ian. I pity him in the light of the judgments pronounced by the Word of God.
(See Romans 1:18ff)

There's a bumper sticker that used to be popular here in the states that goes like this.

God said it.
I believe it. (This phrase is irrelevant.)
That settles it.

Sir Ian's actions are a bit like that middle phrase. It only needs to say.

God said it.
That settles it.

I would say to Sir Ian that the books out of which he will be judged on the Last Day will all have that page in them, and he'll have no say in the matter.

The comment that comes to mind after having read the article is this one from the first letter of John the Apostle.

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.(1Jn 2:19)

I don't know much about Greek Orthodox doctrine, but I do know that to do the hatchet job on his parents like Franky did is definitely an indication of bad fruit. Jesus did say that by their fruits shall ye know them.

God used Dr. and Mrs. Schaeffer, and, yes, Franky too (he produced the movies), to ground me in the faith through their "How Should We then Live" series.

To argue, as Franky does, that he renounces pro-life teaching because the divisions that it has caused is rediculous. Jesus' teachings caused division. Should He have kept his mouth shut. PRAISE GOD HE DIDN'T.

Tony quite correctly points out that racism is not just a "white" problem like the Politically Correct crowd would have you think.

When the U.S. Supreme Court forced me to go to a school not of my choice, I was beaten with a stick that first year, and in my senior year watched helplessly as one of my best friends and his buddies were beaten up in a gang fight, outnumbered 5 to 1.

We were white our attackers were black.

While I have forgiven the one who attacked me, I have no doubt that the Lord has already administared divine justice to him because He takes it very seriously when someone touches one of His children. (See Psalm 18.)

Racism is only one facet of a much broader problem of bigotry which can be sectional, religious, etc. It's a people problem and will be with us as long as there are sinners on the earth.

In the meantime, let us love our enemies and do good to them as the Master commands.

Thanks Tony for saying what needed to be said.

Jim,
I missed your comment on the 9th. Forgive me for the first paragraph of my comment on the 12th.

We have an honest disagreement on this issue. Miracles did not cease with the Apostolic Age but will continue until Jesus returns.

This is the implication of what 1 Corinthians 13:8,10 says:

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. (1 Co 13:8,10)

I agree with you that much of what passes for "miracles" in the modern day are in fact fraudulent. Nowhere in the NT do we see miracles done this way.

It appears, Jim, that you don't have an original thought to share but seem content to refer readers to articles that agree with your position.

The fact is that Pentacostals are believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and their theology concerning the major Christian doctrines is orthodox. THEY ARE YOUR BROTHERS & SISTERS IN CHRIST, like it or not.

And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
For he that is not against us is on our part. (Mar 9:38-40)

That some members of the congregation went to court to block this pastor's installation is also very telling. Christians aren't supposed to go to court against other Christians.
Go figure.

Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?
(1 Corinthians 6:1)

It's time for our English brethren to say with the Apostles.

Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:29)

Brothers, may the LORD defend you from your government.

Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: (Isa 59:1)

Just on the surface of it, this is telling.
The military of a nation that proclaims freedom of religion in the First Amendment to the Constitution destroying Bibles. AND THE CHAPLAINS ASSISTING?!
This scene took place 60+ years ago in Germany before WWII.
This does not look good, folks.

Where's John Knox when you need him?

What the editor of "Life & Work" does not tell his readers is that the Levitical prohibitions against homosexuality are renewed in the New Testament whereas the commandments concerning slavery, etc. are not. The article is as dishonest as it is incomplete.

I hope the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland considers church discipline against this individual.

To the editor of "Life & Work".

ICHABOD!

Now, friends! While the article doesn't give too many specifics, what is reported is Biblical.

Jesus sent the disciples into the streets to preach the gospel of the kingdom (Matthew 10-11).

What passes for Chrisianity in modern times practices what I've heard called "The Mae West" style of Chrisianity where we sit up in our beautiful chuch buildings and say to the unbeliever, "Why don't you come up and see us sometime."

Jesus didn't tell us to do it this way. He told us to go out and get them, "compel" them to come in.

On the surface, I like what this church is doing better than my way of "not doing it".

Such is the power of the Gospel.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16)

Pastor Mike forgets two things.

1. Parents are primarily responsible for their children's education.

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. (Deu 6:6-9)

2. This lady has the constitutional right to do what she's doing.

"Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

Unemployment during the Great Depression was 25%. About 7 out of 10 people were still working.

Today, the last time I checked, 9 out of 10 people are still employed.

Most people are still working.

This is why I've never paid much attention to the "Doom & Gloom" folks.

To those of you who are unemployed, I pray God's richest blessings on you as you look. God will provide. He did for me.

The guarantee of freedom of religion granted in our Bill of Rights has never extended to the commission of murder. The man that beheaded his wife should be executed.

Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. (Gen 9:6)

Those who beat their wives should be tried and convicted under applicable state and federal law.
