Then it is a false religion. Jesus Christ said to the woman at the well of Samaria.."But the hour cometh, and now is,when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:for the Father seeketh such to worship him."John 4:23. God is a Spirit:and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and truth.John4:24. Don't miss that....it must be in truth!
It takes a sovereign work of God to open blind eyes and unstop deaf ears.My entire family as also my husbands is RC.both of my parents are very aged and refuse to discuss the Bible or talk about "religion". They are very devout RC and swallow the false teachings and idolatrous practices of Rome hook, line, and sinker and refuse to be shown by scripture that it is completely against God. So we pray....
@Christopher...the news article posted by SA was talking about various religious people being attacked by sectarian groups. The article is very misleading as most of the people are of the roman and coptic religion which is not Christian. Some were posting and commenting that they were fallen brethren...I objected and stated that I did not consider them so....they are both false idolatrous religions. Yes we will be lambasted for saying so by some on this forum who always throw out the old bone that we hate roman catholic people, when they refuse to see or hear we are talking and warning others about the system and hierarchy of the papacy. Hope that cleared up the confusion
Dolores...we are all a work in progress. Let's all pray one for another and be the best Christian witnesses and point others to the Lord and Saviour. God bless.
Penny...I hear what you are saying...just a few weeks ago an article appeared here on SA concerning the most persecuted brethren on earth (the NK) which drew little response from the forum. In case you all missed it they pray for us that we do not abandon God in our prosperity! And they pray for themselves to remain faithful in their persecutions! Like Shane remarked..makes one feel like the fatted calf here in America.
Penny.....although I sympathize with what is happening to them in this article I do not consider them "fallen brethren" they are followers of a false religion (romanists..coptics)
Dolores... To respect people of another faith is commendable ,but to respect religions or ways of salvation that blind people from the truth of Gods Word is deplorable. The wide road that leads to destruction is full of people who respect more than one way of salvation. A loving Christian will correct those who are in opposition to the truth in hopes God will grant them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth. 2 Timothy 2:25,26.
Dolores..Thank-you for your response. I was saved out of romananism by Gods grace and mercy. In my zeal as a young believer I pounded the gospel of grace and what was wrong in roman catholic doctrine to my family continually, since the official dogmas and teaching of the RC religion conceal and distort the only means by which sinful man can be reconciled to our Holy God.It is of utmost importance that we evangelicals point them to the narrow gate that leads to life.(Matthew 7:14) But with that said I have found that after they have all been told and pointed to the way, the truth and the life. The best way is to be on your knees lifting them up to the throne of grace day and night and living it out before them. If they are the Lords not one of them will be lost! Salvation is of the Lord. May God richly bless you and yours!
The denial today of Christs lordship in salvation is a result of an increasing man-centered emphasis in evengelism, both as to message and methodology. Another contributing cause had been the extreme dichotomy between law and grace as taught by many dispensationalists. The unsound convert takes Christ by halves. He wants the salvation of Christ, but he cares not for the sanctification.
@Neil.....true. Same experience in the local social clubs as you.Total sellouts to sloppy agape..ecumenism and the feel good mushy gospel. Better to be at home with a few faithful disciples and your Bible. The Lord Jesus Christ said it was a small flock!
@Shane....your comment made me think how true that statement of a fattened calf was to my life also. Another interesting observation...not many post to the articles that speak of the persecutions of our brethren in foreign lands.but plenty of hits when it comes to where they can pontificate on various subjects. Praying for dear brethren in the world that are hounded and martyred for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! Praying also for the Laodicean church that is prevelant in this country.
The shew of their countenance doth witness against them;and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not.Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves. Isaiah 3:9
