excellent commentary R.K. Jesus was not talking about the Lord's supper when He spoke those words- Scripture says in Heb. "But this man, after He had offered ONE sacrifice for sins FOREVER, sat down at the right hand of God"..and this.. "For by ONE offering He hath perfected FOREVER them that are sanctified". When it is understood that salvation does not come through communion, then these scriptures make sense.
Para 1380-the church and the world have a great need for eucharistic worship...
Isaiah 42:8 "I am the Lord; that is my name; and my glory will I NOT give to another, neither my praise to graven images"

Mike, I must disagree, I don't boast humility, but I do say God's choosing of me produces not only a humble, thankful heart, but a grateful heart. There is nothing wrong with saying so, for God receives all praise, glory, and honor. PLease read my post again, I said 'it is extremely humbling, and produces a grateful heart in me'...I did not say, 'look at me,I am humble'. There is a substantial difference in the wording.

I find it amazing that sarcasm flows so freely from those who think they chose God. How sad for you, a prideful heart is still lost in sin. I don't quite understand the verses you throw out in mid-air sir, but I suppose they somehow relate to the topic in your mind. I rest my case, I oppose your view and you lash out.
Mike, why does the word humility bother you so much? I do not feel 'forced' to testify what God has done, and as with all who are saved, humility is a must. The proud, arrogant heart must be shattered and brought to Godly repentance, only God can bring low what is prideful.

"We would be 'amening' one another right now and slapping one another on the back".
Not at all sir, to understand God chose me before the foundation of the world to be saved is extremely humbling, and produces a grateful heart in me. I would never be so arrogant as to think I had a part in God's plan of salvation, and I praise Him for this.

If Barak Obama is a Christian, then I must ask, what is the definition of 'Christian'? He supports abortion, same sex unions, and is one of the most liberal senators there has ever been. What does Meeks and this Baptist Church have to do with Obama? We will not gain entrance into heaven based on the church we attend. Obama believes all roads lead to God. It truly is hard to unscramble AVA's ramblings, but what I do get from them is this, AVA-[ a Dem. Cons.]- is proclaiming Barak Obama is Christian. So I must ask, what is the basis of this claim? Has he claimed repentance? Is he producing fruit in keeping with repentance? If so, how so?
I must clarify, I in no way support McCain either, nor would I classify either McCain or Obama as 'Christian'.

Good point Jim, maybe there are some who are part of the ecumenical movement that is rapidly progressing worldwide; such a person would lack discernment concerning the erroneous doctrines of the RCC, word-faith, new age, and emerging movement. No, not all roads lead to Christ, only one...and it is narrow. I appreciate Ingrid at sliceoflaodicea.com, as well as apprising.org. These folks expose much of what is going on in Christianity today, and they back it with scripture.

GG- you are picking and choosing what you want to believe, PreacherJon hit it on the head, read on..."It is the SPIRIT that quickeneth {Makes alive} the flesh profiteth nothing". Christ expects you to read all scripture, and pray and ask HIM for it's meaning, not the rcc. That's where you are in error, you depend on man's interpretation. The verse PreacherJon gave really opens up the whole meaning of what Christ was actually saying. He is speaking in the spiritual sense, just like you feed your physical hunger daily, so must you feed your spiritual hunger daily, feasting upon the word of God and following Christ. {Deut. 8:3b} Again, how can one chew on the flesh of Christ when God is Spirit? Those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. Christ was speaking allegorically, not literally.

GG, do you know what it means to speak allegorically? do you really think Christ was saying we should be cannibals and eat flesh and drink blood? the bible condemns drinking sacrificial blood, it is only shed for the purpose of cleansing sin. Christ would not go against scripture by literally commanding the eating of flesh and drinking of blood. besides, He is at the right hand of the Father, so it is impossible to eat His flesh, no amount of magic can change a wafer and wine into the Lord Jesus. Roger Clark made an excellent point, Christ also refers to Himself as a vine, gate, etc. Does that mean He is a literal vine, or gate?

John Y.- anyone that preaches a gospel different to sound doctrine that leads people away from the true Christ is an anti-Christ; which all popes would be considered. If you are truly regenerated, why do you stay in a church that teaches false, man-made doctrines, and question those who know what all popes truly are- anti-Christs? Remembrance-call to mind, recollection
"This is my body"- this is the price He paid for our sin
"This is my blood"- The blood He shed that cleanses us from sin

The wafer given and the wine served is not His actual body and blood, but is only symbolic of the finished work on the cross. Christ never condoned cannibalism! We bring to mind the price Christ paid whenever we have the Lord's supper. Where in scripture does Christ command anyone to take a wafer and wine and turn it into His flesh and blood? Doesn't that sound like magic, or hocus pocus, 'watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat' trickery... which God forbids? {Read Deut. concerning spells, witchcraft, soothsaying, fortune-telling, etc.}

Lance, there is no need to repeat the work of the cross through any man made tradition, the bible does not teach this.
What is the definition of remembrance?

So the finished work of Christ on the cross wasn't good enough for the RCC? This superficial 'sacrifice' must take place over and over, because Christ failed to do the job??!! What does 'do this in REMEMBRANCE of me' mean to the RCC? How is this verse from God's holy word twisted to fit your 'sacred tradition'? What if the priest, who consecrates the bread and wine, is a homosexual, as so many within the RCC are? How is it a mortal, sinful man 'makes holy' bread and wine when he himself is riddled with sin? How do you dance around this one?

The problem exists with the message itself that is being spewed out from pulpits everywhere, it is relevant, non-offensive, candy-coated. Changing dress, style, buildings, music, etc. is not the solution. Sadly, what most churches lack are men of backbone, willing to stand firm in God's truth, preaching the word in season and out of season. Most are afraid they will offend, it would be too risky to preach on repentance, sin, wrath, and judgment.
Let us all remember to always pray for our preachers, deacons, worship leaders, Sunday school teachers, etc. Complacency has overtaken so many; remember the warning to the lukewarm church of Laodicea.

Lance, why don't you read Foxe's book for yourself? It verifies the blood of the saints that was spilled by the powers that be of the RCC. It reminds me of another strange faith, 'believe our way or else'; any ideas as to the name of that faith?

It is good to see the 'class' of the rcc followers!
Foxe's book of Martyrs is a must read for any true blood bought born again believer who stands SOLELY on God's word, seeing it as the ONLY authority in a believer's life. When I read Foxe's book, it encourages me, for I know persecution of this nature will come to America; I pray for the strength God granted men such as Wycliffe, Huss, and others to be given to all who will face the same persecution for standing firm in the faith, this true saving faith only regenerate hearts know. Thanks Jim for bringing this book to the attention of all who visit this site.

Lance, you are in error. There is no building with the Lord's name on it founded by God to direct His people. Your misunderstanding of Peter, the rock, etc. stemming from RCC heresy is why you are blinded to the meaning of the 'church'.Those He draws and saves are sealed with His Holy Spirit; people coming from all walks of life. They are what make up the church {called out ones}, the body of Christ. This body of born-again believers deny self and serve Christ daily, they gather every Sunday at various churches {both denominational and non-denominational} across the globe to worship, when they leave the building, God leaves with them.

How will they disappear Lance? Will the RCC martyr them again??!! BTW, God doesn't reside in a 'church', He resides in the hearts of every born again believer.

Jim, Thanks for the link, 'how we got our bible'. GG, Lance, and others would do well to read this, however, we know, only God can open their spiritual eyes and ears to understand. I would like to point out one of the many flaws of the Apocryphal books, Tobit 12:9 teaches salvation by works, something the bible strongly teaches against {see Romans 4-5, Gal. 3:11}. If these 'books' were of God, they would NOT contradict the rest of scripture. Again, thank you.

Lance, Can you show us from scripture where God states the Roman Catholic Church as the ONLY true church? Not a roundabout answer, but a direct quote from holy word of God as proof to back up your claim. I am not asking for proof from man-made doctrine, because ALL man-made doctrine is subject to error. Please use passages from God's holy word that SPECIFICALLY state the RCC as the ONLY true church.
