Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Executing wrath upon him that doeth evil seems to justify the death penalty to me.

Jim Lincoln writes:
This means a lot of Christians should be voting for Democrats this year

Why should Christians be voting for a blatant humanistic party like the Democrats? Not that the Republican party is much better. Im not even gonna vote, as I dont feel like voting for the shiniest of turds.

All the Bereans here can clearly see you are just trolling about.

Which part of the verse I quoted says blessed is the man or woman who takes what John UK, Michael Hranek, Lurker, Troll Spotter, Myself, Dolores, Dorcas, pennned or Ladybug state as an infallible direct revelation from God?

No one here believes such a thing, nor would any of the above mentioned espouse such a fanciful idea. Quit spamming the board with nonsense.

Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Just another verse to add:

The most rampant seems to be Semi Pelagianism, as two out of three believe they obtain peace with God by seeking him first, and then God responds with grace.

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. 6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

I have mixed feelings concerning SteveR, for me he is something of an enigma.

On one hand, I wholeheartedly disagree with him concerning the RCC, and find his incorrigible attitude towards those he disagrees with unbecoming of a Christian.

On the other hand, when he is not reviling those he disagrees with, or defending the RCC, I find I agree with much of what he has to say, and find him to be very knowlegeable of the scriptures. I dont think he is a jesuit troll like others, I think he is either very passionate about his beliefs and lets his passion get the best of him, or he is indeed lost and the darkness inside cant help but be made manifest in his posts. At the moment, I hold to the former, perhaps out of a naive hope that he is saved and just needs to get a handle on the old man, idk.

Either way, I will continue to pray for him.

Mike,

May I ask what you mean by scripture being spiritualized away? Are you referring to Amillennialism?

I disagree with Franklin Graham. I think Obama does know the truth about Islam, only political correctness dictates that he doesnt speak the truth about it, so as not to offend muslims.

John Y,

I dont have a problem with the death penalty, that was never the issue. It is your personal desire to electrocute criminals, and goad them as they fry that appalls me. But methinks you dont really want electocute anybody, and that you are simply being a troll to stir thing up.

Its not the death penalty I find troubling, its your demented desire to personally fry murderers.

I read the book about six years ago, before I was even saved. Id have to read it again now that I have the Holy Spirit to help me discern truth from error to give you a better assessment. But, since we are promised to be saved from hell, I have a hard time believing God would make one of his elect experience it, just to warn others. Especially since scripture teaches that if they will not hear Moses and the prophets, they wont be persuaded by someone who experienced it first hand.
