John Y. - don't play dumb, winning the lottery is not of God. God wants us to depend and rely upon Him for our daily bread, not some hoax the state set up and others spend money on dreaming of riches. It is not about how much was given, it is about where the money originated from, it is 'tainted' because it is gambling. Of course, the RCC does not teach the evils of riches, so I can see why you lack discernment.

We cannot 'side' with everyone who claims Christianity. True born again believers will bear fruit, there will be evidence of a changed life. We are new creations in Christ. Repentance and surrendering to Christ is the initial key. We are not to follow church teaching over sound doctrine, nor are we to worship or idolize anyone or anything. There is a HUGE difference in what the bible teaches and what the RCC teaches. Scripture should be the SOLE AUTHORITY for living a godly life. The RCC teaches salvation by works, not understanding the grace of Almighty God, His free GIFT of salvation to all who repent of sin and submit to Christ as Lord and Savior in their lives. To 'line up' with all religions is dangerous. Study what they teach.

John Y. Is it really? "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the WORD OF GOD" Romans 10:17
Many use 'clever ways' to share the gospel, but the power of the gospel lies in speaking it according to His word, just as Christ did, "It is written".

John Y.- Is that honest? and you say you are a born again believer? Since when is deception acceptable to God? It doesn't matter how much money someone wants to donate, if that money is ill-gotten, then it is not acceptable in the eyes of a HOLY GOD. You fail to understand His Holiness, and you fail to understand we cannot condone any type of sin at any level or degree.

Micheal H, as always, it is a pleasure to read your postings. May the Lord bless you and strengthen all who belong to Him.
It would seem Wayne's inner rage is actually directed at Fox news, and he continually takes it out on those who bring to the forefront what Barack stands for. He doesn't seem to actually read any of the posts, and re-hashes the same old stuff.
There clearly is no worthy choice from either party. I don't think anyone here is endorsing either candidate, for they both say whatever tickles the ear of the American public to sway their vote. Maybe it would be advisable for Wayne to shoot an e-mail off to Fox news, and direct his anger where it needs to go.

Wayne,
why is it every time someone brings out what Obama supports, which goes against the Lord, you dance around it by throwing present or former presidents into the picture. NO ONE here is defending the Republican party; however, the article concerns Obama. That is what the posts should concern, the issues surrounding this man, not Bush, McCain, Reagan, or whoever else you want to drag into the picture. Again, no one here has stated the Rep. party is 'the party'.
Can you answer this, how do you defend anyone, whether it be O or M, when what they stand for goes against Almighty God? Who is your God? Who do you really worship and follow, Obama or Christ?

Bragging about one's 'education' certainly doesn't fit the bill of a true follower of Christ, where's the humility? The only 'wisdom' worth boasting about is that which comes from Almighty God Himself. I am quite sure almost everyone would agree that neither candidate is worthy of the evangelical vote, so let's not attack one another and hurl false accusations. We are not responsible for what the mainstream media puts out there, nor are we responsible for the 'racism' that is alive and well in ALL ethnic groups. If one truly belongs to Christ, then we are of only one race, the human race, descendants of Adam.

Micheal H., excellent post. We are to judge, using discernment. So many people are pointing a finger and screaming, 'you aren't supposed to judge!!' because of their own lack of discernment.

Dem. Cons.- are you over 18? Do your parents know about your childish rants, and that you are using the computer, apparently without their permission?

Any sensible adult is aware this election is pretty much a joke. BOTH candidates are NOT born again believers, so what makes one better than the other? Obviously, personal preference, for the issues they stand for certainly are not worth siding with either one over.

"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh" Genesis 2:24
I didn't find any plural in that verse, God didn't say 'wives'. This is just one more of the many, many attacks on God's word...'did God REALLY say'...

Lance, What in the former RCCr's comment justifies you saying 'he would like to think that, it would ease his conscience'? Are you that 'in love' with your church that you would DEFY the Holy Word of God, and defend perversion within your own church walls? Do you not know the greatest commandment given BY Jesus Christ Himself from Matthew 22:37 as He quotes Deuteronomy 6:5, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with ALL thy heart, with ALL thy soul, and with ALL thy mind". Yet, you love church 'tradition' over Christ's teachings. Do you not know if you do not stand firm in God's word, then you are guilty of condoning whatever you overlook, ignore, or cover up? In this case, homosexuality.

It seems that some of us think some sins are 'worse' than others. Let's get things cleared up, BOTH Obama and McCain are lost sinners in need of a Savior. This isn't about who tops who on the 'sin' list. We, the body of Christ, need to pray for this nation, NOT bicker over political parties. We spend way too much time backbiting, when we should be on our knees praying. I know I am guilty, and all who are just as guilty as I am, may we refocus and get back to doing what Christ called us to do.

Jethro, the problem with postmodernism is this; You say some here think we know what the bible means, that we are only telling you what we think it means. But how can you know for certain what is true in the bible? You deny Sola Scriptura, as all postmodernists do. It's common to deny the concept of absolute meaning (Ken Silva, Apprising Ministries}.
This is from Dr. John MacArthur on the emerging church, "It's not that the bible isn't clear, no; rather, it's that they don't like what it clearly says".
The commments here pertain to the sin of homosexuality because that is the main theme of this story. Those who repent of this sin no longer indulge in this perversion. That is what being 'born again' or 'born from above' truly means. Only God can change you from the inside out. But, if you deny the validity and authority of His word, you will remain in your sins. ALL SEX outside the covenant of marriage is a sin against a Holy God {Hebrews 13:4}. This should be quite clear to those who truly belong to Jesus Christ.

We cannot control the way other people think, feel, and react. We who follow Christ must put His word first. When someone opposes God's word, then they are not worthy of our vote. Both candidates are more than questionable concerning the word of God. There is a news story at onenewsnow.com concerning Obama's stance on homosexual adoption, he states, 'We also have to do more to support and strengthen LGBT families, because equality in relationship, family, and adoption rights is not some abstract principle; it's about whether millions of LGBT Americans can finally live lives marked by dignity and freedom.' Again, I emphasize we must be obedient to the word of God, and choose, or possibly not choose a candidate who upholds Godly values and principles. To open the door to homosexual adoption and marriage is to shake a defiant fist at God and say 'I will follow my OWN rules'. Wayne, you really need to look past this race issue, most TRUE believers will not vote for Obama simply because of his stance for homosexuality and abortion. The same can also be said for McCain.

any sex outside the covenant of marriage is sin.- Hebrews 13:4, "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed UNDEFILED, but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge".
"Flee fornication, every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body." 1 Cor. 6:18
God instituted the covenant of marriage between a man and woman from the start {Genesis 2:24}, there is NO EXCEPTION. If there were, God would have said so. Homosexuality is wrong, and a sin. We are called to hate what God hates, He is holy, and He abhors ALL SIN. "Abhor that which is evil, cleave to that which is good." Romans 12:9
"But the fearful, the unbelieving, the abominable {God calls homosexuality an 'abomination' in Lev. 18:22}, murderers, sorcerers, whoremongers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death" Rev. 21:8
What part of that isn't clear??!!

Lance, again, 'this world in its present form is passing away' {1 Corinthians 7:31}, this present world is reserved for fire, and a new heaven and earth will be brought forth by God. This world has no bearing on salvation, we aren't saved to be masters of it. The fall of man cursed everything, and all that is sinful and cursed will be destroyed. God's wisdom far exceeds ours. Why would he save us to make us 'masters' of a sin-cursed world? He saves sinners so they can have eternal life with Him in a new heaven and new earth.

Lance, the sin Adam and Eve committed was disobedience to God's command, His word {Genesis 2:17}. The 'privilege' Adam and Eve were given, then lost, was communion with God, and eternal life. Because sin separates from God {Isaiah 59:2}, they too were separated as are all who do not confess and repent.
Is it obvious to an atheist that God created the world? How is God's creation relevant to salvation?

Lance, If the RCC doesn't make a stand against evolution, then are they for or against it? What does the RCC teach regarding creation? To be lukewarm in any of God's word is serious, read Revelation and see the warning from Christ...

Overcomer,
So, if I am diagnosed with an illness, should I not allow medical treatment and wait for God to heal me? I toss all common sense out the window and wait for a miracle?

Overcomer, thank you for your clarification in regards to an earlier post, I appreciate your thoughts and the kindness of your words. I agree, we shouldn't let society decide what is the 'limit' on the blessings God gives, however, I do feel in these hard economic times, God does expect us to use common sense as well. May the Lord grant wisdom to those who ask, and guidance to all as we take everything to Him in prayer. God bless you overcomer.

This statement by overcomer is unbiblical, 'we could reclaim this nation once again for Christ'. This is the latest fad sweeping Christianity, like God needs us to fight for Him. We are called to PREACH THE GOSPEL, I have yet to find a verse that states we should fight to retrieve this nation for Christ's sake. This is a fallen, sin-cursed world!
Jesus will rightfully claim what is His at His second coming. Why would anyone want to hold on to this sin-infested, cursed world? Do not forget, we should not love this world, or the things of it, and should be in high anticipation of a new heaven and earth that is forthcoming.
